My fiance can't access the play store on her P769. I forget what the error is, but she used to be able to access it. Her date and time is correct. It's rooted, but with the stock rom and kernel (I think the software version is P76920H).
Any ideas? Thanks!

Try to erase play store cache in settings. If it wouldn't help try to delete google account, and login again.

Rooted?
Go to Root Browser and navigate to System -> Etc, and find the "hosts" file. Delete it and reboot. That should fix it. You're welcome.

I haven't spent any time with her phone over the past month, but I'm working on it today. Since I first wrote, it lost it's ability to access data over the cell network, and won't connect to many wifi networks, either. I cleared data for Play Store and Play Services. I get a notification that it needs to update Play Services, but when I click on that, it goes to Play Store and says "No connection - Retry".
I want to wipe the phone and start new with a fresh ROM, but I can't remember how to reboot to Recovery. Holding volume-down while it powers up doesn't get me into Recovery. I'm not having much luck with Google on that, either.

Might have to do a factory reset and reroot it. I forgot the method on doing a factory reset. Something about holding a lot of buttons down.. check around, someone will tell you.

Just in case you haven't got it figured out yet. Power off phone. Turn back on and wait for the Lg logo to come on and when the bottom back lights start blinking hold the - volume button and it will go to recovery

Thanks! I didn't figure that out, but I managed to fix her phone (including wi-fi/data and Play Store) by re-flashing the stock ROM with the LGST tool. I remembered holding volume-down when powering up the phone from my HTC phones, but I guess you hold volume-down at a different point in the boot process with LG phones.

I really hope this isnt a wide spread thing. I use Google talk heavily. I cant afford for it to disconnect upon my screen timing out. I havent used it since I activated my phone to test though.
Maybe check under the power saver option in settings. There is an option to turn off background data when the screen turns off. Maybe that's it?

Is anyone else having an issue where google talk won't load for them? I touch the icon and it looks like it loads for a second then flashes back to the app drawer. I tried clearing the application data, didn't help, and of course I can't uninstall/reinstall

Yup, I have to restart the phone to get it working. I also notice that Restart does NOT restart the phone for me. It powers it down.

I have both of those exact same problems. Hopefully, the next software update will fix these issues.
How do I perform a complete factory reset....All data wiped? Is it possible? I've searched and can't find the answer.
I should add...I'm having a helluva time with random reboots and I'm trying everything before returning the phone. (I have a zagg installed)
The factory reset under Settings -> SD & phone storage doesn't wipe the data?
If not, you can totally power off the phone (pull the battery), and hold volume- while you power it back on, that should get you the recovery menu. There is a factory reset option in there. If you want to totally restore to stock, you can download the original SD card contents in the development section here and then format the sd card and put the original content back on.
Open up your dialer, hit ##786#, then put your msl in, then select menu, then select restore. Then it will reboot.. This will completely restore everything, including data, settings, it will wipe everything.

I go right into Hboot to factory reset. (Phone off)Hold Vol down & press Power. You'll see the option. Use your volume key to select & press power. BOOM!
Or you can use the above suggestions
Thanks guys...I tried the hboot method 1 time b4 and my data remained....all downloaded w/w and everything. But this time it worked perfectly. Let's see if this solves my rebooting problem. I just installed that 20 dollar damned zagg screen protector. I really appreciate all of the quick responses.

When setting up your phone, uncheck allow Google to back up your data. Also, go into settings>privacy>uncheck back up my settings.
I used to use this app on my old phone (Rooted/ROM'd LG Ally). Would there be any issues with it on my new X2? I'm running Eclipse 0.1 with the custom recovery installed. I've hit the "Reboot" button and that works fine. I'm afraid to hit the "Recovery" button.
Why not try it and see? I don't think booting into recovery is going to harm you phone at all. It may just reboot and not enter recovery if that command is intended for CMR or it may enter Bootstrap Recovery. It's really hard to say because I have not used the program myself. No harm in trying. If something does go wrong just pull your battery.
yea you can use it. i use it all the time. if you download the app and go into settings, you can choose wich boots you can choose. by this i mean you can opt to take out the recovery option from the menu when you open the app.
Tried it out and it boots it to stock recovery but not the custom one. Thanks for the responses.

If you are in the UK, update your modem to LH1 , I had this and lh1 was released to address this problem
Still haven't found a solution. Back to stock rom now and back to samsung for repair i guess.
I have the same issue (stock, unrooted, factory unlocked) and I have the LG8 modem. Only started after the latest OTA update which took me to LG8. It's not my router because I can make a 20 minute Skype call on my wife's iPhone and on this phone it cuts out after a minute or so, every time. Even as I'm typing this, I see the message on my screen telling me I'm reconnecting to my router every couple of minutes. Very frustrating.

Did WORK with ARHD 3.0!!! THX Mine problem solved!!!
I'm still trying to fix mine.
When i'm near my router/modem it can connect and download at slow speed. When I move away I lose connection.
And after a reboot or just when trying to connect from a further distance I get: authentication error occurred.
Even with my open network.
I think it started happening after the installation from the first OTA JB.
Maybe installing this one again could help?

You must be deodexed for this to work and on the most current ROM which is "AMDL" I suggest using Nottach's PRom found here.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258904
I have personally tested this on 3 different units all running the PRom with no issues at all...
If you are running a Rogers device and want this then PM me a copy of your deodexed android.policy.jar file and I will take a look at it. I only need one so I will delete this once I receive it....
Here is a quick mod I put together....It will give you the long menu press to kill feature as well as the extended reboot menu. You must have CWM or TWRP in order to install..Just go to recovery and install the zip...
Based on feedback below this mod doesn't seem to work with Rogers.. I will look into it and see what's up.
Flash at your own risk....
This has been tested on an att S4 with twrp/loki...
I also found this which works for increasing your volume..Just install the zip from recovery..this really increases the volume may be to loud for some..

So if you open an app and once opened you hold the menu button down the app should close and a little message is displayed saying killed:appname.
If you press the power button to turnoff or restart phone and you hit restart a new menu should pop up..this doesnt happen either????

Anyways you can add a Version that just had the four way reboot and not the long press menu? Or even better make long press back button to kill app rather than menu. I used long press menu for search alot
Works great for me. Thanks for a great mod. :good:
I am on AT&T odex'd with CWM auto loki.. Gonna flash again after back up! Really just want for reboot but kill button would be nice too. Also gonna try manually replacing policy.jar file.. Will update with results.
