Hey XDA community
I was searching methods for rooting my Android device but none of them worked. So I decided to join this forum.
I need to know how to root a WonderMedia WM8850-mid tablet running Android 4.0.3.
Here are some other details.
Kernel version : 3.0.8
Compilation : 4.0.3 ICS Ver1.5.2-20121127.041249
Camera : Top right corner
If there was an APK like z4root by RyanZA, that'd be great. I have no USB cable that allows me to connect my tablet to my PC.

I purchased a generic Tablet running Android for my wife about 4 months ago. She hated it and we were able to get an HP TouchPad cheap, so she is using that and I got the Android Tablet.
It runs slowly and I would like to do some modifications to it. I have searched for hours trying to figure out what I have and where I can go for advice, ROM's, etc, but I can't find anything specific to the device. It's one of those Chinese "knock offs". I do have the following info:
Model #: Android for Telechips TCC8900 Evaluation Board
Android Version: 2.3.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-tcc [email protected]#12
Build #: full_m57te-eng2.3.1 GRH778 20110414.162501 test-keys
Also, it shows as a "haipad" in windows explorer when I set it up as USB connected to my windows XP computer.
I'm looking to root it, and then possibly a new ROM & Kernel so I can overclock it (it's really slow @ 800Mhz).
If anyone can point me to the correct site/post, I would be VERY grateful.
Hi,
I have a Chinese Tablet (works nice by the way), but I want to root it, so I can install WhatsApp on it.
Specs :
Modelnumber : J-Q8B

KernelVersion : 3.0.8+
BuildNumber : JSA_twd_J-Q8B_20121108_V1

Does anyone knows how to root this device ? (or an other way to install WhatsApp whitout rooting)
Thanks,

Hi there fellow "noob"! It seems we have the same Android tab (it's 7 inches right? and the camera is in the front? and it only has two buttons --the power button and volume buttons? right?)
Ok, just a couple of questions:
1. Did you happen to find a Windows "driver" for this device? (I think this is pretty much needed to link it and run an ADB Android Debug Bridge you can download at Android Developers site (just Google it coz Im not allowed yet to post outside links)
2. How do you go into the recovery mode? What buttons do you push? Since it only has 2 and with no "Home" button to press Im pretty new at this but I think for any rooting to happen one has to go apply a CWD process

Hi,
I Need root for MSI Enjoy 71 Android 4.1.1
I tried UnlockRoot , but didn't support (only support MSI Enjoy 71 Android 4.0.4)
Also I tried [How-To] Root AML8726-MX Generic Devices , but didn't work as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146226
MSI Enjoy 71 Android 4.1.1 firmware link : http://www.msi.com/service/download/firmware-20677.html
Thanks in advance,
MSI Enjoy 71 Android 4.1.1
Hello
Just got my hands on the Enjoy 71, so lets find a way to root it
Have been searching around but did not find any information about root or ROM's
Hope some of the dev's can find time to have a look at it and or give some suggestions.
spec: Dual Core AML8726-MX 1.5GHz
Regards
PT
Has anyone tried this method so far?
I'm also a MSI 71 owner and got my hands on it, I tried updating to the latest official msi rom and it's a bit buggy for example it won't recognize sdcards, the tablet is amazing but needs some polish over details.
EDIT: Tried Impactor and it only says Device not found, I can't seem to find the windpad 71 debug drivers for windows.
Good news, I installed this universal adb drivers http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi found on Koushik Dutta's google+ profile (https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/BQ5iYJEaaEH).
After installing those Impactor ran without a problem and I had rooted device (Although I am on Android 4.0.4 not sure if that might change something).
PS: Before doing that I did install Helium app and desktop to backup things, I'm not sure if that might have changed something.
Confirmed, work on 4.1.1

I made a [guide] thread over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393977
If you could post your experience it would be great in case other users find it and are willing to try it, also where you using the 4.0.4 version of Android?
EDIT: Just read it says 4.1.1, cheers!
Rooting MSI Primo 73

I'm looking for some advice about rooting my android device. I'd like su permission, so I can remove protected bloatware, use apps such as Root Explorer, etc.
The device is listed on Amazon as an Allwinner A13 (correct, I think) with Android 4.0. However, on my "tablet information" screen, the Android version is given as 4.1.1.
Here's all the info from the "about tablet" tab on the settings screen:
Model number: Q88.
Android version: 4.1.1
Baseband version: v0.4rc3
Kernel version: 3.0.8+ [email protected] #284
Build number: nuclear_evb-eng 4.1.1 JRO03C 20130531 test-keys
The device arrived with no clear documentation, and it's a bit hit-and-miss what you end up with, with these - my friend ordered the same item and ended up with a device with different apps installed, and his device was already rooted when he took it out of the box!
Is there a way to root without using a computer? (I don't have ready access to a PC right now.) I've tried Poot and a couple of other apps, but no luck so far.
Thanks in advance for any help; I'll be eternally grateful.

Ah, someone in the same boat. Have you found any more info on rooting these, since your post? They obviously can be rooted - as I said, I know someone with the same model, Q88, that already had full root access, straight out of the box.
Let me know if you find anything out; I'm still looking.
With the poot/ministro method, I'm just getting an error message about a "daemon has materialised". It hasn't harmed my device, but neither am I any closer to su permission.
[rant]We really shouldn't have to jump through any hoops to get control over our own devices. Imagine if you bought a PC, and you didn't have admin access to Windows. If you ask why, you're told: "well, you might delete your system files, and we can't trust you not to!"[/rant]

My tablet is a allwinner a13 too. And this process worked flawlessly. But you have to use a computer.

Cheers, I'll have to work on getting hold of a PC to use, to try that method. Thanks for the post.

Hi there,
I am looking for an out-of-box Android tablet of version 5.0.1 or later, that has built-in kernel module for the USB Serial. The Android tablet also needs to be rooted.
Has anyone used similar tablet in the development project? If so I would really appreciate if you could shed some light on the tablet details.
Thanks in advance
