Hi all
I have my new 925 and could do with some help!
How do I switch off the live tile for People?
Why do I need a Nokia account?
How do I switch off the dimmed clock on the lock screen?
How do you switch off in-call notifications for messages etc.?
Can I set the default search provider (for the magnifying glass icon) to Google instead of Bing?
Any help would be great!

You dont need Nokia account... except for Nokia Mix Radio (switch to US account on Nokia web account page) if your region not supported
to turn off clock go to settings - glance
for most of your question check http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8
Thanks.
I'll note my solutions here for others.
How do I switch off the live tile for People?
You can't. But making the tile 1x4 rather than 4x4 stops the live aspect of it.
Why do I need a Nokia account?
Unnecessary completely.
How do I switch off the dimmed clock on the lock screen?
Settings --> Glance
How do you switch off in-call notifications for messages etc.?
So far this is the biggest flaw as it can't be turned off.
Can I set the default search provider (for the magnifying glass icon) to Google instead of Bing?
Yes. Settings --> Applications --> Internet Explorer
Then Settings --> Language+Region --> Search language --> Bashkir
Hit the search button, login to your Google account
Reboot
Set language back to English

Hi,
I have been trying to disable the automatic toggling of the "sync" switch when the "Wi-Fi" switch is turned on or off in the power management widget. I am running CyanogenMod 7.1 on an HTC Desire (Bravo) GSM with Go Launcher Ex.
Please, see the attached screenshot. The topmost widget is the one I'm talking about.
I remember that the automatic switching of "sync" to match the state of the "Wi-Fi" switch is something that I did myself (because I went to a foreign country and I didn't want to have a huge mobile data bill). Now I can't seem to find the right option to untie the two switches and allow them to have distinct states.
Can someone guide me? Thanks.
Is there a way to remove the Facebook icon from the contacts live tile in WP8? I'm not using Facebook at all, and nothing is synced with facebook - so the icon is a pain in the eye (not meant in any offencive way for all of you who are using FB).
That's not a Nokia issue -- it's a Windows Phone issue. It's in WP7, too.

Thanks for your effort. I have no such option though. I only have the option to filter "Hotmail" and "Nokia Account". I filteret the Nokia account and ticked the "Hide posts from the contacts I've filtered". Didn't help. Even tried to unload the tile and then load the person tile Again. Didn't help eighter. Also tried to filter out the Hotmail - unload and load the persons tile Again. This gives me alot of red and redish tiles + the facebook tile. This indicates that the f-icon is build into the system.
Guess I have to accept it - even when it seems stragne that such an icon is enforced on my device.

you don't have a facebook account, but you still get the big F logo? that's odd. Sounds like a bug. Oddly enough if you did set one up and then hid it, I think you won't see the logo in the rotation. Alternately you could turn people hub into a small tile to get rid of all animation.
login to www.live.com with your acct n check your people hub setting on website
Hello
I'm seeking to get notifications (such as gmail subject, or a new sms) on my lock screen.
So I installed HeadsUp Notification which is said to be compatible with Android 4.2 and lower, and I cannot activate the service in the android options.
I mean, there is a "service" option, I click on it, and I find a screen where there is only a text, and no checkbox or anything
Do you know how to activate the service? Or to get another application that may display my notifications on my lock screen? (even if it replaces my actual lockscreen).
Thanks

This thread may help you to activate the service:

I am also looking for a notifications app, see my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oma.../looking-notification-app-standalone-t2925247
I will try HeadsUp Notification.
Hello guys, I bought the Huawei Honor 7 last week and I just received the official flip cover.
The problem is that when someone call me and the flip cover is closed, the phone allow me to answer or to cancel the call, but it does not show me the name of the caller.
Is there some settings where I can set to show the caller name?
Generally speaking are there other settings to change? It seems quite limited the behavior and interaction with this flip cover.
Thank you in advance for the help
Maybe try going to -
-Settings
-Screen lock & Passwords
-Allow show detailed notifications.
???

Hello all,
I am trying to disable the current weather condition notification. Going into the Google app - Customize - more preferences - notifications - "current weather condition" turned off.
I go back and right into the notifications area again and it is still on "on"
Why would it not save that setting. I dont think I need that in the notifications when I have a weather widget on the home screen.
Using current MIUI on MIX 2S
I came across your post whilst trying to solve the same issue.
I think I've found the solution:
- Open the Google app
- go to the hamburger menu
- choose 'Customise' (not settings)
- toggle the settings on and off
Make sure you go into 'View all settings', there are extra toggles within
Hope this helps.
