Anyway to get a soft button navbar? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there a mod or a work around to put a soft navbar on a rooted MJ7 device? I have xposed and Wanam frameworks installed. Would I be able to use one of those to help me achieve this? I did see a mod for this in a SGS3 xda forum but was unsure as to if it would work with the s4?
Here is the thread.

I don't want to use a third party launcher is the only situation. I am currently using the 4.4 KitKat launcher from the s4 GPE that was put up. Any other ideas out in the xdaverse?

3minit. Look for it on Google play..... but you'd have to flash the appropriate framework, and I don't know how to do that with safestrap or anything
Sent from your mom's smartphone

3minit will not work with mj7 as there is no custom recovery. Unless you know something I don't.

Safestrap? I dunno, I'm on MDK

The only way I've ever seen it done on a TW rom is using 3minit, which of course requires a custom recovery to flash the framework. You can't do it with Wanam & I haven't seen anyone put out an Xposed module for soft-buttons. I've tried editing the build.prop like it says to in the link, but it's never worked for me on any rom on this phone or the Note 2.

Have you considered just using Pie or Glove Box? I know it isn't the same as soft keys but it beats having to push and hold a button just to open recent apps.

[MOD] disable/enable capacitive buttons

very simple mod very simple op
*** THIS IS FOR THE CAP BUTTONS - Menu - Home - Back - Search - not for nav bar ***
since the new cm rebase kernel was pushed some things have changed.
my old enable/disable no longer works on the new rebase so here is the new zips
should work on all cm/aosp based 4.2.2 and 4.3 roms
disable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/13402-disable-capacitive-buttons-new-jd81
enable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/13403-enable-capacitive-buttons-new-jd81
for 4.1.2 roms use
disable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/639-disable-capacitive-buttons-jd81-zip
enable: http://www.blownco.com/index.php/doc_download/640-enable-capacitive-buttons-jd81-zip
just flash in recovery and reboot *put both zip's on your phone* flash disable and reboot, if you dont like it then flash enable and go on with your day
if this zip doesnt work for you *ie buttons still work after reboot* well then you dont have the proper rom,
either go on with your day or
-open a file manager
-go to /system/usr/keylayout
-delete the file sec_touchkey.kl
-reboot and go on with your day
Nice! Thanks Jamie, will definitely come in handy for me Pie/Nav bar addition!

it should, there was no change from 4.2.2 to 4.3 in the touch drivers like there was with 4.1.2 to 4.2.2
Wasn't sure if it did once I knew I wanted to share with others.

Hello, first off, well done with this, its working perfectly for my note on PAC JB rom, but was wondering if there is anyway to disable the lights for the buttons, they don't work, but still light up, just wondering, have been searching for a bit and will continue to, but thought I would ask here too, thanks again for all the work you do, have a good one!

Thought I'd share this for anyone who wants to disable the capacitive button lights. Credit goes to the original post I found at..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210765
To turn off capacitive button lights:
1. Download a file manager with root access. I used Root Browser.
2. Go to system/lib/hw
3. Find the file named 'lights.msm8660.so'
4. Rename it to anything such as "lights.msm8660.so.old"
5. Reboot.

Removing 'Small Apps' dock area

Hey chaps. As the title suggests, I would really like to get rid of the small apps area in the notification bar. I know I could root and install a custom ROM, but I'm trying to see if I can stay with stock for a while. Any thoughts?

When I got the XTZ I was hoping that replacing the stock launcher with Nova would do the trick. But unfortunately it did not. Perhaps there are other launchers that can help out?
This izs not something that can be done by replacing the launcher. This is a framework feature and would require modification of the framework via decompiling the apk. This isn't something easily done. If you dont want this, you will have to flash a custom Rom for the time being.

What the hell did Samsung do???

Samsung really messed up right now, they're trying to replace Google services with their BS! First they removed Google TTS (which I had to manually put back through root). Holding down the menu button brings up Sfinder instead of Google now, they don't let you OTA if you've rooted. Wtf is going on! I'd personally like the option to choose to open Google apps instead of having to use Sfinder and svoice. Is anyone else feeling kind of pissed about this stuff

personally why would you want to OTA with root? Chances are you will lose root. They do that for safety, less problems. I remember phones bricking all the time when you did OTA, just do the updates from xda. And personally... I'd never compare samsung to apple. That is just a horrible thing to do man.:silly:

well Id recommend waiting. It might be harder to root again if u go back to stock
Now I'm stock with root and I'm up to date on the latest firmware. It took a while though because of the whole device status blocking an OTA but I got it. Now I'm just gonna wait for more custom roms to release

[Q] Jelly bomb question

I installed jelly bomb last night and everything works super amazing! Thank you josh beach!! I just have one problem, when I turn my phone off then back on I get a little message on top saying "kernel is not seandroid enforcing", "set warranty bit: kernel". I just would like to know if that's normal? If not, what can I do to fix this? It's my first android phone so an explanation in depth would be preferred please. Thanks
I experience this as well. It is nothing to worry about. Getting rid of it would be nice though.

Oh okay thanks a lot!! I just thought I might have missed a step in process.
I'm very new to this and I was wondering if you could tell me if I did the right steps to flash everything I need?
I rooted my phone, installed twrp, made a back up of all my apps, wiped my phone and then flashed jelly bomb and hot spot mod.
Anything I'm missing?

If you're not satisfied with the look and feel, want some more customization, then make sure to set up Xposed Installer and Wanam Xposed.
(From a post I made in the JellyBomb thread)
Learning how to use the Xposed Installer and Wanam Exposed is essential in customizing JellyBomb Domination, once set up all sorts of customization options become available.
For anyone who wants to change the look and feel of, for example; Notifications Panel "background" or add a "Call Recording button" to the Phone app...
1. Run your Xposed Installer, select Framework and Install/Update. Reboot.
2. Ensure that Wanam Xposed is checked in the Xposed Installer "Modules" tab.
3. Run Wanam Xposed and start customizing!
There are all sorts of Xposed modules available for download if you need something Wanam Xposed doesn't offer.
The Battery Icon can be customized several ways with these Mods, as well as through options available in Wanam Xposed.
Exposed is the shizz mos def
Also I have that same message on my phone and I don't believe it is a problem

[Q] tablet UI for mega 6.3 i527 at&t or softkeys such as lg g2

I am not unfamiliar with the xda and searching for answers but I have yet to find anything on what I would like to do. I have tried an array of apps and tweaks from "softkey enabler" to "wanam settings". where as I have had success in customizing a great deal of this awesome Mega. yet everytime I enable the soft keys or set to a different UI I get the "unfortanately systemui has stopped working. I understand the not being able to have a custom rom or recovery at this time. all I am asking if any one has a clue to what can be done or attempted just so I can enable softkeys or get the tablet UI working. thanks

True DAT!!! I knew there was a way through Xposed and some system settings download. I remember there were 3 items to change the settings on that had to do with changing dpi to 220, but I am smart not too much sometimes and cant remember. Sorry, but maybe if you could come up with certain phrasing and run a search. There was a how to in the Note forums.

I have reworded as much as I can (or as far as my intelligence will allow me) and have yet to uncover which settings need to be configured. I do understand that it maybe as simple as a quick tweak but I am a bit discouraged when venturing to deep. I am in no way a dev and would like to consider myself very slightly above a noob. I will continue my search. thanks for the replies and if i do stumble upon my answer. could I post my success here or just post where I found it.

I have used "pie" before on my original note. and although i did like the concept "swiping" to bring it out is not particularly what I want on this Mega. I had used a custom rom that allowed me to switch my note from phone /tablet /phablet. and truely enjoyed the look of the "tablet" UI. so what i am looking for is to make my Mega look like my Note 10.1 as far as the softkeys and navigation bar are concerned. but until some brilliant dev figures out the work around for this "i527" and can allow us to flash such a rom. I must continue my search for what ever comes close.
