Hey guys,
I'm Jeroenvk94, in the Galaxy S Advance Forum I'm known for some of my themes and a ROM I've made for the phone.
Today I got the Lumia 920 with my new contract, and I got to say,it really pleases me.
I'm new to WP, so I've got questions.if they're noobish please go easy on me.
I look forward to having a great time with this forum and this phone.
PS: is there any way to disable the screen rotation. It really annoys me...

you must get GDR3 preview for developers update to have screen rotation settings... if you dont have developer account and dont want pay developer annual subscription to Microsoft, use this instructions for free solution:
1. Register for the Windows Phone App Studio. The Windows Phone App Studio is a free tool for developing Windows Phone Apps, it doesn’t have as many features as the full software development kit, but it’s simple and easy to use and most importantly it includes the ability to developer unlock one Windows Phone so that you can install your own apps to it for testing. You’ll want to register using the same Microsoft ID that you use with your Windows Phone.
2. You must install the security certificate that is emailed to you after you sign up for the Windows Phone App Studio program above. Find the email on your phone, download the attached security certificate and tap the install button when prompted.
3. Install the Preview for Developers App on your Windows Phone. After the install completes, launch the apps, and follow the instructions to enable your phone for the preview program.
4. Go to Settings > Phone Update and check for updates. After a while of “checking for updates”, your phone should find the GDR3 install files and from there you’ll be able to download and install them. The phone will reboot, show some gears animations for a while, then reboot again and perform a data migration step. After that you should be running the latest built of Windows Phone 8.0 GDR3!

This update does delete all my stuff or not? All my apps, sms, call logs, photos and videos will remain on the phone or it will be all deleted?

I remember from Android that an update indeed only replaces your system files, and therefore doesn't wipe user data.

$9 unlock? CWP7 UNLOCK?
May be home brew apps?
That's all for now. Or Marketplace. Wait for Interop unlock and you can customise even further, we don't have interop yet, but people are trying hard.
Turn off the sound enhancer. It will perform much better.
Buy an extra battery made for the Amaze or EVO 3D to get a little better life.
Download some apps from the marketplace
Help figure out how to Interop onlock it.

The phone is locked in 3 ways to prevent various security etc issues.
First one is developer unlock - which lets you load apps that are not in market. Same as installing non-market .apk or pirated .apk for android phones.
Second one is interop unlock - similar to root access where you can write and edit registry
Third one is full unlock - which is 'go wild' with your phone unlock.
1st and 3rd are easy. But to get 3rd one, we need 2nd one. Like any new android devices, it's hard to unroot at first. So at the moment there are efforts to root/interop unlock HTC Titan.
But by officially unlocking the phone we can add many apps from XDA which cannot be submitted to market because they are too cool

Thought this might help you understand the locks better than what I did there.

Just to make a correction, official unlock allows a max of 10 sideloaded apps (3 if you do the Student-based official unlock). Once you interop unlock, you can have an almost limitless number of sideloaded apps.

There are some apps you really should download such as
1)Cool tools is a great app which has some necessary tools such as convertors/stop watch etc.
2)Mehdoh/Seesmic/rowi (all are twitter apps and all are good)
3)Toggle(a great app for making live tiles of Wifi/Bluetooth/Signal etc.)
4)Storm Glass(an excellent weather app with live tile support)
5)Skydrive(w/25GB of free storage for music/apps)
6)Qloud Media(it's like air video for iOS which lets you view your videos that are stored in your PC with your phone)

Are you sure ? because at first they said it's getting no updates and will be out of marketplace but later they said that they've reached an agreement or something with MS and metrotube will stay in market place(read it in wpcentral.com IIRC)

I am not sure about the agreement. The latest I read was, they will pull it from marketplace but those of us who have it won't lose it due to remote wipe from Microsoft. However, there won't be any updates. I thought we din't need much updates anyway with that app so I am still holding on to the app. However, I hope you are right!

I just ordered my Titan last night so I'm out of luck when it comes to METROTUBE. My question is, why is METROTUBE special? Is there something wrong with the HTC YouTube app that comes on the Titan?

Youtube app from HTC for me - does the job so I never complain but people who are out there to bash and compare WP7.5 with iOS5 will always say it's not an app.
Metrotube was better looking UI-wise - the metro UI used very well! Does exactly same as HTC's youtube too in terms of function. Oh, some sharing features were different if I am not wrong.
GoToMyMic a web-based interface for Windows Phone 8. Using any modern web browser, you can record from your Windows Phone microphone and listen to your records on your Computer Desktop.

hi guys
1. i want to install Ubuntu touch when I'm back from my holidays. I saw lots of videos showing a nexus 4 running it and it was EXTREMLY smooth. But I only have a Galaxy Nexus. Does it run as smooth as on the nexus 4? Because I'd love that!
2. can someone give me a list or a link on what is currently working and what isn't? I could just find an individual error-list on the ubuntu-website, but not a full list. Because Ubuntu Touch looks very nice to me and I don't want to uninstall it after an hour of using it. I want to keep it on my Galaxy Nexus for a longer time. I use Ubuntu every day on my laptop and I can use the terminal to get the things i want
3. how do you get updates for ubuntu touch? can you download them via terminal or do you have to download a new zip and install it via cwm?
4. is the software center ready or is it still in development?
thanks for answering my questions and helping me! I hope i'm in the right section

1. I don't have a Galaxy Nexus, but I've heard the performance is still very good on it.
2. What ships mostly works, network, camera, audio, etc. We have a growing number of apps available to install via PPA too.
3. You can get most updates via apt-get upgrade on the terminal, though that will soon change when we go to a read-only system partition and Click packages. You will still need to phablet-flash to get updates to the Android parts.
4. There won't be a separate Software Center app for Ubuntu Touch, instead you will have app discovery, purchasing and installation from the Unity Dash itself via the Apps lens. This is waiting on the arrival of Click packages and the associated Scopes.

Thank you very much! It makes me happy to read that. I was fascinated by how far they came in such a short time and how fast the system grows to a perfect OS. I'll give it a try when I'm back
2. Network? 3G-Data too? I heard it doesn't work yet.
3. Read-only system partition? Does this mean i can't do EVERYTHING i want with the terminal like i can on my laptop? But maybe it's better.
I imagine a guy buying an Ubuntu-Phone, playing around with the terminal and deleting everything with a single command
4. So this means: If I have internet-connection, i can simply search for the app i want and it will find it? like in the dash on the desktop? that's a nice idea! I just expected a software-center because I saw a guy on youtube developing it.
But I found some more questions for you :
I heard, that the twitter-app was cancelled because of twitter. Can I still download it somewhere or do I have to wait until they make a new one?
Do some Apps like GMail work?
And the most important question:
Where can I follow the development-process? I already joined "Ubuntu App Developers"-Community on G+, but they only post about apps.
Thank you very much for answering my questions!

2. mobile data works on the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4, I don't know about any other phones.
3. Read-only system partition will be the default, Click packages will install into a read-write user space. Enabling developer mode will set the system partition to read-write as well and give you apt again.
4. Yup, whether it's installed or not, on the phone or on the desktop, you can always find your apps in the Dash.
5. I don't think there was ever any code written for the twitter app, but you can bzr branch lp:ubuntu-twitter-app (same with lp:ubuntu-facebook-app). We still ship the Twitter webapp in the default device image, and that's the one Twitter wanted people to use.
6. The GMail webapp works, yes.
7. Come hang out in #ubuntu-app-devel and #ubuntu-touch on Freenode IRC. Last week, this week and next week we're picking one app per day to focus on with new contributors, so it's a great time to get involved: http://developer.ubuntu.com/2013/07/announcing-the-ubuntu-core-apps-hack-days/

LockDown - XPOSED
LockDown is a security module for Xposed.
It allows you to add multiple PINs to unlock your phone. Every PIN is a profile and you can restrict certain apps from launching when using a certain profile. You can even choose to hide the apps from the drawer completely so the user will not know if they are locked out.
There is a free version for testing before you purchase the full module. Please verify it works before making a purchase.
Features
Add PINs that can unlock your device
Lock apps from launching depending on PIN entered
Hide apps from the phone completely while profile is active
Compatibility
Works with most ROMs that are similar to AOSP. Will NOT work with the following:
Heavily modified ROMs
Any lockscreen with quick unlock enabled
Troubleshooting
How do I launch the app?
To launch Lock Down for the first time call *#*#54321 from your phone app. This is the default launch key. It is recommended you change this key after opening Lock Down.
Dialing the PIN won't launch the app
Make sure you have a PIN set in your system settings already. LockDown can only be launched when the phone has been unlocked via the system PIN.
Reinstall the module and reboot your phone.
If you are still unable to launch the app please post your xposed log and a detailed summary of exactly what you did to try to launch the app.
The free version works but the paid version does not.
This is due to Android putting paid apps in /mnt/asec/ instead of /data/app/ where xposed can properly load them. Until there is an official fix for this you can install XMOD which will move apps from /mnt/asec/ to /data/app/. To use it, simply install the XMOD and then install LockDown. XMOD can be removed after LockDown has been installed.

I plan on adding Gingerbread support soon. Only reason that it is not in this release is because I don't know where xposed for GB currently stands. If it is stable enough I will gladly add support for it!
Now just to get a phone that runs GB.....
Any ideas for troubleshooting other than the ones you have listed on the play store page? I made sure all my lockscreen settings were back to default and rebooted but dialing *12345 just takes me to voicemail still.

That is very strange. I have tested it myself on a Nexus 4 running KitKat and it works. Try this:
1. Disable all xposed modules including lockdown
2. Make sure you have a PIN set via system settings
3. Restart phone
4. Enable lockdown
5. Restart phone
6. Unlock phone using the PIN you set in the system settings
7. Dial *#*#54321 and call it

Thanks for this MOD and especially for integrating Tasker support. I imagine it would be even more awesome to set different PINs/profiles based on the particular WiFi that the phone is connected to by MAC address

Can you please make the app accessible by a normal icon? The dialer doesn't seem to be working for me... im on SlimKat 3.0 gs3 VZW. I could see that you made it accessible through the dialer so another user can't change the settings but we can always just restrict the lockdown app from opening in a profile if it is accessible by a normal icon

Hi everyone!
This morning I was greeted with this message:
"The Messenger app for Windows Phone is no longer available. Please use Messenger by going to www facebook com/messages in your mobile browser."
So I was wondering if there's an alternative 3rd party app for Messenger?
PS: please spare me of the "w10m is dead just switch already" etc. comments. I love the platform and want to stick with is for as long as possible.
My messenger don't open! And I can't understand what a problem?))
What version of Messenger do you use? For me the version "99.701.24366.0" still works.

That I don't know. The app doesn't let me in and I tried reinstalling it but now I can't even download it from the store (Error 0x80073D01)

Microsoft had it's own facebook and messenger app before facebook made their crap, but they removed it from the store. I don't really care about the facebook, but not having messenger scks.

How to bring all my friend to use signal only to chat with me ?
A good option is to find the old version of this program in packaged form, download it from your computer to your phone as an app file and unzip it from your phone. Next, prevent this program from updating, this should help

How can this be done? I got no clue
a) where to find programs in packaged form
b) transfer it to the phone (where to)?
c) unzip to where when on the phone
A more in detail explaination would be great
