question.. for example if my handset region is Vietnam, can i use a firmware from Philippines?

If you have i9300 then you can use any firmware, irrespective of country. Baseband is a different matter, some won't work at all in some countries.

thank you for your response ... what firmware region can you suggest for me... since i do not know what is the original firmware of my device... im in the philippines.. i try some firmware but if i upgraded to a higher version thats the error i got... even if im using the philippine firmware.. the only works perfectly is the firmware from europe GT-I9300MBDDBT.

I can't, as I'm not from the Philippines, try the latest full stock rom for your region at sammobile. If your keys stop working after then you have a hardware fault.

Go to sammobile .com or samsung-updates .com and chose your region ,or read the thread that deals with Philippines in General section .

thank the honest answer... last one thing...it is a hardware failure even if firmware 4.0.4 is working great in my device? the only problem is that when i upgrade buttons are not working so i downgrade it again... but anyway thank you for your time...:good:

4.0.4 is a bad firmware that will cause SDS, it's more likely you made an error, didn't wipe properly or had a bad download.

What is the original stock firmware my phone came with before flashing?

A simple question but i couldn't find the answer. I flashed my i9300 but i have no idea weather it came with UK, Dutch or Dutch Vodafone firmware. Is there any way to find this out?
Als is there any way a service center can look it up through your serial number or imei?
A similar thread about this for the I9100 / SII went unanswered.

If you dont know then outside of asking Samsung all you can do is guess .
Some say Kies will give original firmware .Tools Firmware upgrade and initialization .
jje
Why don't you flash one that's for your country? It doesn't matter for Samsung warranty if that's the case because once it's their software they don't ask questions.
Mine came with a Dutch firmware, it's a 32 GB and I flash Cyanogenmod over it.
Try http://androidfirmwares.net and look for Galaxy S3 Roms.

After i rooted and then updated through Kies, it did reset the Device status from modified to normal, but let's not confuse that with getting the firmware of the original locale/provider. Kies update didn't change the firmware. So either i already had the original firmware, or it just updates.

That's very reassuring and just what i wanted to hear
The reason i'm not sure what the original firmware is, is that in the past, two of my preordered android phones had UK firmware (probably because the UK shipped a few weeks earlier). On top of that this is my first phone with a contract (subsidized) but from a website (gsmweb) rather than the provider. So the firmware could be UK, Dutch or Dutch Vodafone afaik...
Either i have the right firmware, or Kies just reads the current firmware, not the origingal. If i ever flash another firmware, i'll check if Kies still says this (Dutch, unbranded) is my original firmware.

LH1 is a recent firmware so if your phone is older than a few months its not the original .
((Some say Kies will give original firmware ))
like i said some say that .
But i have no evidence that they are not getting a Kies report based on the HDSWVER in the windows registry .I could test as i know my original firmware but KIES is not a product i use .

[Q] Going back to stock

I need some help. I'm trying to go back to stock on my GS3. It is unbranded and I flashed this ROM: United Kingdom 2012 August 4.0.4 I9300XXBLG8 I9300OXABLG8
Whenever I connect to Kies it says that this device firmware is not upgradeable through Kies. Then I put this code in my dialer, *2767*4387264636# to check the product code and nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong here? FYI, this device was bought from someone who was given this device when they were sent to the olympics as a Samsung blogger.
Thanks for any help that y'all can provide.
I am a newbie to ..
But i think just download the stock rom for s3 on update.samsung.c*m or so ..
Find your regional ..
And download odin for window / mac
Just flash it ..
And wipe cache and factory reset
I think just those.. i do it once and succses .. lol

I thought so. I'm not really wanting to update to another firmware per se. The message in Kies is throwing me off. When I google the message I find most of the info says that the product code and rom do not match.

Two points really Kies may have no update and product codes may not match firmware on the server . Thats due to you changing them in part .

Yes, the firmware seems to be the last official update from samsung,
JB hasnt been released for UK afaik, so the message.

Anyone Flashed Sweeden or Singapore Non carrier firmware onto their i9305?

http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9305&pcode=0&os=1&type=1
Seems to be a few new firmwares up, Singapore and Sweeden dont appear to be carrier dependant.
Id love to get rid of the telstra firmware so that updates are direct from samsung instead of telstra.
I know a search could find it but seeing ive made the thread ill ask, is there a good set of instructions for first time locked device users (nexus was easy to flash) on how to flash another countrys firmware on a locked down galaxy or do you just use odin for stock firmwares?
I have this on my telstra phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935570
Latest release with no carrier software at all.
Doubt you can use samwungs servers to update though. I have a feeli g it doesnt work once you have a non original rom install. Could be wrong.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
its not completly stock firmware so i doubt the sammy servers will update it, that being said a untouched version of hte international firmware like sweeden may not suffer the same fate.
I updated my Singapore (Singtel) set to the non-carrier latest Singapore firmware:
I9305XXALI9_I9305OLBALI8_MM1.zip
Works great for me without the bloat

I just flashed It, after flashing it doesn't automatically do a factory reset so I did that manually, I've noted that the optus branding is removed from boot animation, and the homescreen quick bar icons are now customizable.
no FM radio module though...

well... either I didn't notice it or after reboots and or rooting I saw some M1 apps showing up, have done this reset to XSP CSC thing now to see how that goes, it did wipe data btw.
EDIT: ok it seems that the M1 apps re appeared after the post-wipe reboot, i'm reflashing and seeing if they had appeared before I rooted.

yes you can. but sometimes you may face modem problems like "you can't call or text people!" like in XXEMG4. i suggest you to backup efs and then flash any f/w you'd like to.
:good:
Just make sure that the firmware you are flashing is for the I9300 branch. Flashing other firmwares not suitable for the I9300 will well... brick the device.

[Q] Can i flash a Rom from another country ?

Hello,
long time no see!
Just want to confirm if it's still the same case or anything changed.
I have a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 ( I9300XXUGMK6 "4.3 Android" ) from Germany. Now i want to flash a firmware from another country for example "I9300XXUGML3" 4.3 Android for GT-I9300 from Singapore. Is it possible or has SAMSUNG changed anything in their policies that makes it impossible? Used to be possible with Odin.
thanks mates !

yes.. but the radio.img/baseband version are different for other country. just reflash your baseband after rom installed.
* u can try which baseband work well with u, try in error wt your local provider connection
At first, its the wrong section. This must go in Q/A section.
Second, Yes you can!!

I am from Portugal and here, like other counties, the updates have a delay... So, I always download the latest European Firmware available when it comes out in other country!!
The only noticable difference is the CSC version, each country has a different CSC and thus different bloatware, but that doesn't mean you can't flash another country's firmware that will work except with different preloaded software.
Apart from that try to pay attention to the "Changelist" number which is the build number (So higher means newer). When Samsung releases a firmware for a specific device some countries get a new build number while the others won't. So flash a firmware which has the highest "Changelist" number.
How can I check the "Changelist" number of the firmware?
