Anyone else having severe space problems after the update? I am rooted and s-off and I just installed one of the zipped updates and I went from over 3 GB free space to being unable to install apps due to less than 400MB free. I wiped the phone before install and I only copied my pictures back over. Storage is showing "Other" as 13.22GB.
I found the issue. It appears that /sdcard now links to /data/media/0 rather than /data/media. I thought the files in the sdcard directory were all deleted during the flash but they were not, so there are still copies of my data and clockworkmod backups.
I believe this is creating another problem: I am trying to install apps and I am receiving the message "Couldn't Install On USB Storage Or SD Card." Is there any way to change the link for /sdcard/ back to data/media?

My S2 has just got a really big problem for 2 days. I can access the internal storage (which is 11Gb) and see or copy all the files to my laptop's HDD. But the problem is that I can't edit any of those files (by using apps in the phone).
When I tried to delete some files, it told me those files is deleted but they're still there, unchanged. When I tried to create a new folder, it said "Creation Failed". The same things just happened on every file manager apps I've ever used. :crying:
Moreover, I can't access gallery now, it said "Not enough space. Delete unnecessary items..." although I have 6 free Gb in my internal storage.
I'm pretty frustrated now. Any ideas would be highly appreciated
There is really no helps
Rooted?
Rom?
Maybe install/flash again
Hello! I just rooted and installed last stable cm-7 ROM on my Legend using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26735943&postcount=3
I thought all my problems were over but unfortunetley I was wrong.
After I downloaded & installed some apps, I noticed that my internal phone storage space is keeping gettig
low, even when I move every app to SDcard after installing it. Setting the sdcard as install location by
"adb shell" was not helpful either.
I guess some data is still saved on the internal storage, no matter if I moved it to sdcard.
I tried to create a partition on my SD so it can be used as internal storage, using this tutorial:
http://forum.hackmyandroid.com/showthread.php?t=220&page=1
But after I created the partition, my Legend couldn't identify my SD at all.
Lucky, somehow I managed to do something so my Legend could recognize my SD again, but I remained with
some less space on my SDcard. In other words, I couldn't delete the partition properly. Weird...
Is there any solution for this issue? I don't mind getting a new Micro-SD but how I cause my internal storage
stop getting full?
Any ideas?
OK, so I tried to create a partition with ROM Manger, but I after it's done and device is rebooted, Link2SD still says "2nd partition not found"....
So, I created the 2nd partition.. all setted up... even get a notification from Link2SD after an app is installed says "appname linked to SD"
BUT, still internal phone storage is getting low... I'm helpless.. any ideas please...
Hey guys, I don't know how much available storage I had prior, however it was easily a GB free at LEAST as I put most of my media on my external sd-card.
I went to make a cwm backup before I flashed the latest CM nightly but stupidly forgot to tell it to backup to external storage.
Lo and behold, the backup failed and when I rebooted the phone I got notifications telling me that my storage is very low.
http://imgur.com/zjMiyGc - this screenshot shows that despite there being around 1/4 memory free (or otherwise uncategorised), I only have 229MB available.
I've looked in the clockworkmod folder and there's nothing there, but I can't figure out where all this memory has been taken up from?!
Is there any way I can locate the files/folder taking up the most storage on my device or has anyone encountered this issue before and know a fix?
I can't even download any new apps atm as they won't be installed due to low memory

what is in /data root folder. it looks like a lot of duplicates files, is it safe to clear that folder?
Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with my VZW GS4. All of my storage seems to be utilized by "phantom" files. I was updating my playstore apps yesterday and I got a memory almost full error. I only have 1 GB pictures, .5 GB music, and .3 GB applications used. I know the system is using almost half of the my memory off the bat, but looking at the files above, it did not make sense that I would only have 300 MB left out of 9GB or so available to me.
My device was rooted, but was still on the VRUAMDK Kernel flashed after rooting. I had Titanium backup installed but did not actually do any backups. I had CWM manager installed and had one recovery that took up a small amount of memory, so I wasn't sure what would be taking up all my memory.
I decided I wanted to do a wipe on the phone after backing up my pics/music to see if i could wipe the memory and start clean. I wiped the device using the stock recovery app and the phone still only has 4.2GB free. I guess a wipe/factory reset does not clean EVERYTHING off the SD card. When I go into the Device Memory section in settings, it appears I have half of memory free, but it still lists 4.2GB available. I did a file usage analysis and it does not listed Could something I had done in CWM Rom Manager created some hidden files that wouldn't get wiped? Does the GS4 auto software update download to a hidden folder before being installed? The phone recently download the new ME7 firmware which I did not install yet.
Using an android file browser i've looked around the SD card system folders but I would have no idea what would be taking up so much room. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Can I wipe the non-system partition of the SD card somehow? I am just not familiar with this and I wouldn't want to mess up the OS somehow.

Looks like a CWM recovery was sitting in root/data/media. I found this solution in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218
I'm running the latest CM snapshot. I've been getting the infamous "Insufficient Storage Available" error for a while not, usually with chrome. There are various solutions. The "delete /data/app-lib/<app>/lib" solution was working ok for me but I can no longer find chrome in there anymore for some reason. I've already moved every app that can be moved to the "internal" SD card. All the "solutions" are really just workarounds trying to clear space.
Is it possible to increase the size of the partition by re partitioning the internal storage?

I know that apps can be moved to the SD card. That isnt a solution nor my question.
I'm asking of the internal storage can be repartitioned
I'm having the same issue. I desperately need to reparation my phone.
i'm running viper rom with the sdcard swap mode.
i'm now back to getting insufficient memory messages when trying to update apps or sometimes run apps. it shows i still have plenty of free memory... i have been moving apps to sd card and that works for a little while.

You need to look at internal storage, not SD card storage.
So I did system dump today to explore the files on my computer see what's hogging all of my space.
Background: I have only have 13 apps installed.
What I found is that my data/data is 346 MB and my data/delvik-cache is 452 MB.
So the files installed by CM are getting more numerous and of greater size. Not sure what to do to solve this problem.

same issue here. davlik cache is similar to a cache of your applications so they start faster. So it doesnt matter if you move apps to SD, you'll still have davlik.
Also, many apps will still store data in internal memory eventhough the app itself is on SD. I wish there were a way to move the data.
Or as I initially suggested, re-partitioning.

well, there isn't ANY easy re-partitioning tool for android out in the wild that i KNOW of ... but, (at least to let you know) ... I'm currently still trying to _hack_ something together similar to the internal storage-partition upgrades that the other HTC One devices with MSM8960 recieved ... where they officially unified the /user partition with the internal /sd-card (fat) partition! ... it might take a few weeks until i have something to show around (as work keeps me very busy throughout the week), but i'm working on it.
just as a quick question so CM currently DOES put it's dalvik to the /user partition??? i thought they put it to /cache??? (at least on CM10.1 and CM10.2) ................ so feedback would be highly welcome
