[Q] Unable to change Google+ notification sound - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi, I am unable to change the Google+ app's notification sound. When I go into Google+ Settings -> My Account Settings -> Notifications -> Ringtone, I get the dropdown selector for the different sounds, but when I choose one and hit "OK", the dropdown closes and the setting doesn't change. I have no idea if this is a fault in the Google+ app itself or something else, like a failure with the dropdown menu system.
Has anyone else experienced something like this and/or can think of a fix?
My setup:
- Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4
- MI1 firmware, rooted with RDLV
- Using Safestrap and running Google Edition 4.2.2
- Using XPosed Framework with GravityBox, XBlast Tools, and XPrivacy
- XPrivacy is NOT restricting Google+ nor any Google apps or System apps at all
Thanks for any help!

Hope someone knows of a solution as this has been annoying me for a couple of weeks now. No matter what I do the notification tone will not change.
I have seen one other guy mention it on Google+ as well but nobody had a solution.

Same issue

I have the same issue. It is stuck on"Tethys". I previously had it set to "None" forever. This must have happened with the latest update to Google+, which it says was Nov 15th, but it seems like it started a few days ago. I was still on 4.4 when it started. Now I am at 4.4.2 and it is still happening.

The Google+ update I downloaded today fixed the issue.

Are You Experiencing This?

I have discovered an issue with the latest Gmail update and am curious if anyone else is too.
I have been having issues with my MoPho going into "Silent Mode" for no valid reason. Everything works fine then all volume voes silent including ringers, notifications, dialer key sounds, etc. The only way to get sounds working was by restart. I have traced it to the Gmail app notifications. When a new email arrives I get the status bar and audible notices, then the sounds go dead. Since un-installing the latest update to Gmail everything seems fine again.
This makes the second google app update I've had to revert from. There has also been reported issues with google search causing com.process.motorola.home to FC when opening from the app drawer.
Anyone else experience this?
FWIW I'm running rooted stock 2.3.4.
I'm a MoPho-er
I haven't seen that... it seems pretty unlikely that the Gmail app could cause Silent Mode to be enabled, but I guess stranger things have happened.
It's not "turning silent mode on". When I get the notification and read the email sound no longer works after exiting Gmail. Don't understand it, either. The volume is up all the way, but you can't hear anything. I wound up having to revert back with Gmail AND YouTube (I discovered this after testing) and now I don't have anymore no sound issues. I guess I should reinstall them, make it happen (I can reproduce it at will) and get the logcat and see if it gives any useful info.
I have also had to revert back with google search, too. If I install the update and try to use google search from within the app drawer I get a FC in com.process.motorola.home. Removing the update gets rid of the FC.

I have tested these apps many times and never experienced this issue, are you loading any other apps at the same time?
Not doing anything differently than I have in the past. The issue showed up the day they updated and stopped the day I reverted back. Not loading any other apps at the same time or anything unusual.

@FernBch
it happens to me, but nothing linked to Gmail..
this is what i do when i dont hear anything when i get a text message: go into settings > sound > notification tone
I try changing it to another sound. if i hear nothing, i stop all running apps (because usually the stock media player is open for some reason.)
if there's no sound after checking again. i use my file explorer to play a mp3 via stock media player, once it plays fine, the notification sound works...
its a messy thing i have to go through when it happens.. but i dont know why...

Problem with push notifications

I searched XDA, Google and the official site of LeEco. I have found similar problems with push notification(Whatsapp, Email.) But no direct solution for the leEco max 2.
I've tried different roms, chinese and india, because of the EUI layout that i like.
I tried all the settings that are mentioned: Priority notification on, no battery saving, no clearing of tasks, installing Push notification fixer, reinstalled from scratch, and now on stock indian 5.8.19S.
But still no push notification when the phone is in sleep mode. After 30 minutes no use. Only after manualy activation of the phone.:crying:
Has anybody a solution for the EUI Rom? Or is the only option to try CM on the phone?
I appreciate all the help. Big Thanx in advance.:fingers-crossed:
In addition to what you have mentioned, you should put these apps in auto launch mode+app protection from phone manager.
Make sure that you have also enabled auto-sync data from account management.
Whatsapp and messenger notifications are working fine with these settings on indian rom 19s. However, I faced problems with Gmail notifications in other customs roms.
Autolaunch and app protection usually solves it

Settings plus, did it for me.
The Enable background resource control in the hidden menu.........I switched it off............no problem anymore for me with notifications. Whatsapp, Gmail, etc..... @sdevaux Thanx for the useful tip. @lukam01 and @anameeeen for helping out
This looks like a global sync issue that I've been trying to solve for almost a month now. Coming from the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, I've been experiencing the same exact auto sync problems on both the Note Pro, and the Le Max 2. Gmail and Yahoo mail (or any other email client that I've tried) won't sync and give notifications unless I open the apps manually and refresh. I tried pretty much everything I could find on the internet to no success. Whatsapp works most of the time, but every once in a while it start's doing the same.
Power management is off, the apps involved have all the required permissions, they're set to auto launch, global sync is enabled (tried turning it off and on again to no effect), and of course, sync is also enabled in each individual app. Background resource control is off (hidden menu).
I have removed my accounts from both devices countless times, cleared the cache, data, uninstalled/reinstalled the apps, re-added the accounts individually...
I don't know what's going on, but I'm talking about 2 different devices and 2-3 different roms on both (the devices were set up as new every single time, not restored with Ti Backup), so I'm pretty sure it's a global issue.
Same issues here. In addition, some apps just plain don't work if the phone is asleep. I prefer using Google Clock for my alarms, and textra for my text messages. However, if the phone is asleep, the alarm will NEVER sound and I will NOT get text messages. I'm not just talking about not getting notifications for text messages, I'm talking that if someone sends me a text message I will not EVER get it. They only way to fix is to use the STOCK clock and text apps. Crazy.

I'm very curious, did you try the hidden settings and deactivate the background Resource control?

Yes, but this did NOT help fix the Google Clock app. I have read other threads with people having the same issue with some google apps. The theory seems to be that perhaps the way gapps is added by LeEco into their roms breaks something having to do with notification system.
Maybe try an indian base rom, like Revolution 19s. Inadian roms have google apps natively installed

But I believe the Indian Roms also encrypt your phone by default, CN roms don't. Don't want any encryption slowing down my phone.
Stock Indian roms encrypt data, but in revolution version the encrypition is removed by rom developer

I have the same problem, I try all roms, the only rom that works and enable notifications even in sleep mode it is cuoco92 5.8.015S
It's a big problem for Leeco, notification doesn't work correctly
It's a Rom issue. Works perfect for me with Mokee
can you guys confirm that in mokee and cuoco all notifications work well. i tried everything from forums and this thread, whatsapp is fixed, but i simply cant force gmail notifications to come properly. huge disappointment in this phone because of it. so i just want this to work with stable custom rom and that camera works as in stock rom...any recommendations?thanks
anyone,please?
Use lucky patcher and move your Gmail/inbox to system app. Works for me.
I have same issue after a while notifications stop to work, resetting Google play services helps but issue occurs after few hours again. Trying to install different versions to see if it helps. For now also stopped Android Wear...
Using cuoco92 Rom S20v65
Make apps can launch automatically, work for me

Same here. I'm on tiny eui which is hard on 20s and I have done all the power and app settings. Every app works and I get notifications but alarms through alarm clock extreme will not go off when the phone is in deep sleep. I cannot figure it out.

You can't unless your the developer of the app and write the code. If your not then the developer who codes the apps needs to fix that.
Google searching the error shows stuff like this (to give you an example why it's a code issue)

Thanks for replying.
I am geting this error message when i open the facebook or google chrome app. I am from austria and noticed this error when i was opening the app named quando. My friend has also the Galaxy s9 and he is not getting this error messages.
Does it has somthing to do with the development tools option that i activated on my phone?

No, enabling developer options should not do this. If your wanting to find out for sure then just simply turn off developer options.
Taking the time to read the link I posted should help fill in what is going on. But it is a bit techy so I will try to summarize as best as I can. Android notifications have to be associated with a channel. If no channel is specified (or doesn't exist if it was) then the notification can't go anywhere and gets stuck in "null" space (pardon the sci-fi term).
As an example... Facebook wants to let you know something important, so it sends a Facebook notification via the Facebook notification channel. Up pops a notification that lets you know what Facebook had to tell you.
Now this example deals with the error your seeing. Using Facebook as an example again for this... Facebook wants to let you know something important. Facebook tries to send you a notification but when it tries to open the notification channel it can not. Because the software encountered a problem it lets you know that the notification couldn't because it couldn't find the channel to use for sending it.
Now I know you said your friend has the same phone and about the only difference(s) I can think of that would cause an issue like this is your running an older (or beta build) android OS. If your using a custom rom then you should get in touch with the people who created the rom and see what they can do to help.
Still even if none of those apply the developer of the software your using would have to resolve the issue. At the very least they are the best people to contact over your issue since they know more about the software they made
Wrong
I have this problem when I open messenger or when I chat with someone shows me this ""developer warning for package com.facebook.katana failed to post notification on channel null"" how can I solves this

The answer given is not wrong, feel free to Google search the error cuz it tells you the same thing I did. I even posted a link detailing the issue.
You have 4 options really
1. Get a hold of Facebook and have them fix the problem with the Facebook messenger software
2. Check if "show notification channel warnings" is toggled under developer options (if you have it enabled). If it is try toggling it off and see if that helps. if it doesn't then you have to go with option 1
3. If your using a custom rom (or modification to stock rom) contact the people who made the rom (or modification) and see if they have any ideas. When you guys ask for you don't indicate if your using stock, custom or modified OS's on your phone.. so this option might not apply, but its here as a "just in case it does".
4. Using a modified/custom apk? Did you get the apk from another source other then Google play? Did you do anything to the phone? You can try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it from Google play. If you did anything to the phone you can try factory resetting it, which would remove all your apps and reset the phone to its default settings. A factory reset would be a last resort IMHO because this means you have to set everything back up from scratch. If you do end up factory resetting the phone install messenger first and see if you get the same error. If this option doesn't apply then you gonna have to go with option 1.
Under normal circumstances you shouldn't be seeing this error, especially with a major brand like facebook. So I would start with what with (or on) your phone might be causing the problem. If the issue happens with Facebook messenger only then I suggest you contact Facebook for help.

Notifications of android on OnePlus 6 are not coming through.

So lately while installing new apps on my OnePlus 6 I do not get any notifications from those apps. I have checked all settings but cannot find anything. Some apps give notifications, but apps that are newly installed dont.
It is quite annoying since I want to install a habit tracker that reminds me of habbits. The notifications I am setting up are not coming to the phone. So setting a notification at 8am. when its 8.01 am I still dont see anything pop up.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Thanks!

No notifications after Android 10 Update?

I updated my 7.2 to Android 10 yesterday.
Since then i had some problems with third party apps (like WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat) that aren't getting notifications.
For example:
I have WhatsApp open in the background all the time. But i don't get notifications when i haven't opened it for a moment (30min?).
I close Snapchat in the background once I'm done with it. I never get notifications. Not even after hours of waiting.
Instagram is a similar thing. I close it once I'm done with it. Sometimes i get notifications with a delay of like 30min, sometimes I don't get any notifications.
Things i tried to fix it:
- I restarted the Phone.
- I deactivated adaptive battery.
- I checked to be sure that battery optimization is turned off for those apps.
- I checked that all notifications are allowed.
- I checked that datasaver is turned off.
- I deleted the cache of these apps.
- I reinstalled these apps.
- I changed the Heartbeat Interval with the PNF App.
Nothing helped so far.
Is this a bug in Android 10 on the 7.2? Is there anyone experiencing the same problem?

It seems to be an ongoing issue with some phones. There is an online document where everyone can sign up who as similar issues to have Nokia fix the bug. The docuement can be found on Openpetition.
