Like title says I have the us cellular galaxy s4 mini SCH-R890 model and I need help rooting it because I cant find anything about it. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

nah man, i cant find jack about it anywhere.
use safroot method tested on 4.2.2
I have used towelroot on my SCH-R890 and it roots it just fine.
Then you just need to install SuperSU from the Play Store.
I am still on the R890TYUBNE4 firmware.
However it may no longer work if you have taken the January 2015 update from Samsung.
It would be nice to know if it still works for anyone on the R890TYUBNK1 firmware.

Do you think it would work on a R890TYUBPD2? of the Galaxy S4 Mini? The last update was 2016-5-1 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if u have the galaxy prevail 2, then u can use Framaroot 1.5.1.apk. use the gandolf option and it should root it. it worked for me:fingers-crossed:

Framaroot 1.5.1.APK made my Prevail 2 stop responding a few seconds after start up. I recommend not using that to root a Prevail 2. I also have no idea how to fix this, so I guess I am going to have to go to the troubleshooting and fixing forums.

Giving suggestions to root without knowing what software / Build Version of the device is a bad idea.
OP - please look in Settings / About Phone / Build Version and let us know so we can give you an informed suggestion for the safest route to take.

I recently rooted my Verizon Galaxy s4 on 4.2 and just noticed today 4.3 pushed down on my phone as available. If I update will I brick my phone or should it work?
You will get an error message because your phone is modified. No update for you, you will have to flash back to stock unrooted.

I accidentally hit update and it did successfully go through but it's not 4.3 (that is available now) but I did lose my root

I'm glad somebody here is willing to help you, but it's important to note that you're posting in the wrong forum. Not sure what the code 7 is, but the ATT i527 has no recovery. No recovery....no flashy.
If you are looking for root and you are still on JB 4.2, www.kingoapp.com will root your phone.
If you are upgraded to 4.4 then we have lost rooting capabilities for now.

OP: You're out of luck. There's no method to unlock that phone, nor any US Cellular phone that I've seen.
