Hi all. I was here some months back, trying to root the device (which I had upgraded to firmware 4.03 r1a) and I tried all the scripts, the allinone and other ADB commands. Multiple times. Got this device in China, and didn't have any luck rooting it.
Now after not using the device for months, I turn it on and notice r5a is available. I thought.. hmm, maybe upgrading it will make it harder once again to root it, so I better check online to see if there's a root available now or not. I've been looking around and can't find any real answers on this.
So, just wanted to ask: Is the Sony Tablet S 4.03 r1a rootable now?
Thanks!

Hi and thanks for reply
I did follow the instructions on this page but that was probably last January. I couldn't find any specifics about a Chinese firmware with 4.03 r1a, so was just wondering if this guide was valid for it.
I suppose I'll try it again, and see if anything's changed.
Thanks.

Rooting your phone won't magically make it update past 2.3.5.
Regarding how to root your phone, there are stickies in these forums with all the information you need.
thank you, I understand everything now (at least I hope so.)
well, I allready got my xperia mini pro rooted but with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.42 and android 2.3.4 GB. It's a brand free new phone, I haven't even inserted a SIM since I received it yesterday, I'm still waiting for my SIM. I've only downgraded the firmware & rooted the SO, nothing else (the only new change is the adition of superuser after rooting)
I'd like to know the steps I have to follow from this point to install a rooted android 4 ICS , if there is any good guide to lead me..
Thanks
EDIT: finished...simpler than I thought

I¡ve been looking around, but most tutorials are obsolete.
which guide should I follow?
Thanks

You have to downgrade to a rootable version using Flashtool, then root it using DooMLoRD's method. THIS tutorial is absolutely not obsolete... and it's sticked in the first page of the forum
I got confused
thanks for your reply
I saw it before, but I was confused in beginning, it seems there's a msitake:
when it says "NOTE: If you have newer firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62 or 4.0.2.A.0.69), check tutorial 3 first to downgrade your firmware"
should say "...check tutorial 4" That silly thing made me think that the whole tutorial was wrong or obsolete, cause both points have nothing to do with each other.
Thanks for your help, I'm gonna try it
PD: do I need a SIM card in any step of the whole prcess?
No. I don't think you'll need a sim

Hello!
I'm using tablet Asus Zenpad C7.0. Model Number P01Y, Android version 5.0.2.
I want to root this device. I have tried two different ways: Kingo Root software and Dingdong but all failed.
Please everyone help me!
Thank you so much.
Regards.
Danny.
Please help me .
Thanks.
Actually really interested in the topic as well, using p01z, really want to root it to get rid of the bloat and possibly if there is a way get an ozon or cay. to run on it, spent several days on the net and have tried several methods including the above mentioned everything failed. Surprisingly there is no info on P01Z anywhere... like zenpad does not exist lol
Waiting for this also
Should we assume this just isn't going to happen? I don't know enough to figure it out myself.
same here just tried without luck
I have no experience at rooting at all, but I tried using the adb debugger and figured out a way to monitor the tablets' data.
Although it didn't help me, I'm still looking for a way to root my new ZenPad C7.0.
So this really isn't going to happen?
I'd really like to root this device but I'm having no luck in doing so..
I tried the method described here but with almost all combination, it still does not work. I get a fastboot remote unknown command.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
So my conclusion is that there is no known method exist now. Some of the hits one got from searching the internet are bluff and fake.
Any Luck? Asus ZenPad C 7.0 P01Z
Anyone in this thread alive? Or is it dead??
I recently purchased the Asus ZenPad C 7.0 P01Z and am looking to root. I tried "Kingo ROOT" and got no luck. Did a little bit of investigating and it looks like it may be the Bootloader that is preventing it from properly working. Trying to "Unlock the bootloader" and running again. Not sure if it will work, but figured id ask anyone here.....
Please let me know if anyone here has any luck.... I really need to get this thing to perform better. Overclocking is my goal... any other advice on how to improve performance is welcome as well! Feel free to message me here or email me (best way to reach me) at either:
[email protected]
and/or

Thanks everyone!!!

That guide is for both kingo root and ding dong which the OP lists as non fuctional. I have also tried king root (both PC & APK versions without success).
I believe this unit cannot be rooted anytime soon. Better to find another device that is rootable.

Well, i don't really understand Russian but by the video what we can assume is that he's factory resetting it. In the second part of the video at least, we can see that he is using Kingroot to root the tablet.
Hey good news I've officially working on the root,
I will be using the sdk manual method.
I will also upload the files on XDA.
I will also need time to do this because I don't want to brick my tablet.
*MORE NEWS ABOUT THE ROOT WILL APPEAR ON XDA-DEVELOPER.COM*

Agreed, thanks so much Kibs. Really appreciated; I picked up this tab the other day in the sales and the battery life is pretty poor thanks to all of the crapware and such. I cannot wait to load up Titanium and remove it all! Thanks again buddy.

hi guys still trying to do everything I can
it is harder than I expected
I tried to use the method for ASUS Zen pad 8.0 because its root has been released.
But when I tried it wouldn't work
so wish me luck again
*IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN THE FUN IM GOING TO UPLOAD THE ROOT METHOD WHICH IS USED FOR ZENPAD 8.0*
F.Y.I
THIS METHOD WON'T BRICK YOUR DEVICE
YOU CAN FIND THE INSTRUCTIONS ON GOOGLE FOR ROOTING ZENPAD 8.0
IF YOU DO THE METHOD YOUR DEVICE WILL GO TO BOOTLOADER MODE SO TO SWITCH TO NORMAL MODE
PRESS THE VOLUME DOWN BUTTON AND POWER BUTTON TOGETHER. THE DEVICE WILL BOOT TO NORMAL MODE.
Kibs, did you manage to get into recovery? The triggers I am using does not seem to be working. "unknown oem command".
Also, I'm stuck on what is presumably Fastboot (green background with the Android). Pressing power down + power doesn't allow me to boot into normal mode.
Hello,
I've been using these forums for years to root all my devices so thanks to all for the hard work.
I just want to know how I can root my Xperia Tablet Z SGP321. It's currently on Lollipop 5.0.2 (10.6.a.0.454).
I've looked everywhere and I can't find anything to simply root it, all I can find is for previous firmware and for other models.
Can someone please send me a link? My bootloader is is currently locked but an unlock is allowed so I can do that if required (did it with my Z2 and my Z3 so I know how).
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you

Strange that you found nothing.
This firmware can be rooted with rootkitXperia | KingRoot or Vroot apps. I recommend the first one, as two other are chinese.

Thank you so much, I'll give this a go tomorrow.
I've never rooted a tablet before, only phones so I just wanted to make 100% sure about the build and stuff.
Just one more thing, the page says it's for 5.0, will it be ok on 5.0.2 or does the 0.2 not matter?
Edit: Ok, so I ran the rootkit and everything succeeded but now it still says there is no root access when I use Root Check and I can't run SuperSU as there is apparently no binary installed for it.
Any idea what the problem might be?
Edit 2: Ok nevermind, I finally managed to get it sorted. I followed the guide located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...ide-how-to-root-xperia-tablet-z-lp-5-t3253178 and all is well.
Thanks for the help
Okay, I admit, this website indimidates the hell out of me. I'm tech savy and not afraid to mess with things, but the level of new terminology here is staggering.
Anyway, now that you know I'm a wimp: I have a SGP561 Xperia Tablet Z2 from Verizon with Lollipo 5.0.2. I want to root it in order to install custom fonts on Photoshop Touch as I'm living abroad and using my tablet as my main computer while the beast lives back home.
I tried to use the Easy Root Tool but it failed. I assume this is because my firmware is too new and not exploitable as of yet, which means I have to downgrade I believe. I have found some files for flashing (?) but they aren't for the SGP561 specifically - does that matter? All I found were these for Xperia Z2 (not the tablet Z2?)
So, in the easiest language possible, can someone please give a step by step on how to downgrade my SGP561 to a rootable firmware and then flash (?) back to the latest firmware and keep root?
Please, please, please, and thank you.
Bump?
This site is frustrating as hell. Mods are quick to lock noob threads without offering help, and you're not allowed to ask questions in the areas where anyone who knows the friggin answer would ever be anyway! I have a rooted z3V running lollipop, etc, so I'm sort of familiar with the process. But developments had been made where rooting became easier.
I've been wading through endless threads filed with outdated crap trying to figure out how the hell to root my z2 tablet for 3 weeks. None of the way this stuff has been written makes ANY sense.
I'm on 5.02, and want root and dual recovery. Should be simple, right?
I don't even know where to ask the damned question anymore. I've downloaded virus filed $#!+ on my computer, thoroughly screwing it up, TWICE now, only to find I probably didn't even need that file. -Or do I? Download links are so old they don't go anywhere. Can't tell what's what here.
Even this thread ; a WEEK OLD, and no help.

I followed those steps in that link. It didn't work for me.
I could not downgrade to 17.1.D.0.437. The device was either in reboot cycle or in the status of in-completed flashed after I flashed the firmware ftf file provided in that post. I had to flash the latest firmware to restore the tablet. I was glad I didn't bricked my tablet.
