Baseus S-View cover problems - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Received the Baseus S View flip cover last Friday. And its good but I have started having problems. When you flip the cover closed sometimes the s-view functions will not work at all. Could someone tell me why that is?

because its an imitation of the original so its supposed to not work more well than the ori??

I have one of these too and find it is working very well. Is the cover closing completely? If the magnet isn't engaging it won't trigger the s-view. My cover arrived where it didn't close very well so I used a hair dryer to gently heat it up and stretch it a little so it would close better. I took the phone out when I did it.

It's a bit strange. Because sometimes when you flip the case closed the s-view functions work and then some other times it doesn't work. Very annoying, How should I check the magnet?

I would find a magnet and touch the lower left of the phone. If it always switches to s-view then its the cover. If it doesn't consistently switch then its the phone.

Magnetic or Snap closure on hip holster

So I am looking at getting a leater hip holster. I know the style I want, but I see there are ones that have snap closures and magnetic closures. The magnetic seem better from the idea of not having to put pressure on the phone to close it, but on the other hand it seems like I'd rather have have the snap in terms of security (meaning, the snaps are theoretically less likely to pop open when shaken, bumped, or caught. I am sort of active and in a little more rough setting than your normal office.
Anyone have any comments/thoughts? Is this even a worry with magnetic closures?
The magnets will most likely cause the 'keyboard open' and 'stylus out' switches in the phone to read incorrectly when it is removed from a case with a magnetic closure. It doesn't do any harm, and the keyboard switch can be remedied by a registry edit.
See this thread for more details.

I have magnetic closure, and it works fine for me. The last several cases have used this technology. I have never had the case open unless I did it.
Right now I am using a holster case with a magnetic snap. the magnet can make the phone behave as the other poster described but I simply face the front of the phone to the back of the case. Just put it in backwards, all works the same anyway.
I would like a case though that might flap over to protect the front but allow the keyboard to slide out etc so the phone can stay in the holster if that makes any sense. Dont know if such a thing exists.
im using a magnetic case and have no problems with any odd behavior (i also put it in screen inwards)
i used to use a snap, but i didnt like putting the pressure on the phone either, and oddly the snap case was the one that was constantly popping open, probably because the snap has a larger profile than the magnetic clasp, and also once the snap pops open its open, with the magnet it usually settles back in closed position even when it does pop open
I've seen that odd behavior with the case I have now. Sometimes my phone just unlocks itself just by placing the phone into the case or taking t out. It has a very strong magnet though. The original HTC that comes with the T7373 has a much milder magnet which doesn't cause any of the problems.

S-view cover on the note 3 problem!!!

HEY guys i just bought a g note 3 yesterday along with the official s-view cover.
The cover functions in the way as described, but when i fold the cover full towards the back for example i fold it when i text the phones goes in to the s-view mode (like when the cover is closed) note: the cover is still open and folded towards the back of the device.
I would like to know whether this problem is caused by the cover or the phones connectivity with the cover?
Thanks for your help in advance

I used to have a similar problem when I used that case. Instead of going into S-view mode like yours does, mine would do the opposite. When I closed the cover it would show my Home screen through the cover. It sorted itself out eventually. Not sure what causes this though. Sorry I can't really be of any help other than just wait it out, it will probably start working correctly eventually. Your not the only one who has had this kind of issue though.
You should send your cover back under warranty. It is a problem with a magnet on the bottom side of the flip, which in your case is probably too strong.
Don't hesitate, This is a known manufacture problem of a few exemplars, and does not happen in working ones.
Cheers,
K
My s view cover doens't stay shut in most cases. I close it and it opens again - in particular once I opened it completely. Is this normal or are the magnets not strong enough and I should have it exchanged?

Mine does this, too. Not exactly what I expected for that price. But it always closed enough so that s-view was active.

Their are no magnets to keep the case closed. The magnets are there to tell the phone when to enter/exit S-View mode. Case is a good idea, but with it not closing all the way, I took mine back. Waiting on the Spigen S-View case which has a clasp to keep the cover closed. Was just announced and has a shipment date of around the 1st of the year.

View Cover thinks it's closed although it's flipped all the way to the back

Hey guys,
I got myself a View Cover for my Note 3.
Now I've got a problem:
When completely opening the cover, so that the front view is on the back of my phone, the phone goes into the "cover is closed-mode", i got that square view and can go to camera and action-memos...
But i just wanted to use my phone normally,
Is it just me with that problem or has anyone the same problems?
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's actually closed
phone is in normal mode when cover is opened
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's flipped back completely
Thanks in advance!

I've got the same problem. I stopped using the s-view case because of it.
Some people say there were some defective batches where this was an issue (magnet too strong?), and others say they don't have the issue at all.
If you have the option, try exchanging it for a different one and see if you get better results.
I had the same thing happen as well. I let the company know and they gave me a new case. Hasn't happened since.
Are you guys talking about genuine S-View covers?
Because I get that sometimes on my cover, but it is a cheap chinese knock-off, so I don't mind it at all - it rarely happens anyway.
But I wouldn't accept that on a genuine Samsung cover.
I've tried another cover, too but the problem remained. I aswell am using some chinese knockoff, although it says samsung... But yeah, can someone tell me if the original view-cover got that problems?
Thanks for your replies!

Genuine Samsung s-view cover doesn't have this issue
I've got a genuine cover and I don't have this problem at all.
If its a knock off, good chance the magnet in the front of the case is too strong. I've noticed if I put a magnet up to the bottom left of the phone, this will trick it into thinking the cover is closed. Similarly if its done from the back of the phone, if the magnet is too strong it will trigger the same. not sure if theres something you can place in the back cover of the case to shield it?

First, thanks for your reply!
I will check if I can protect the back somehow.
But anyways, I am thinking of buying another view-cover because my phone won't recognize mine from time to time... Have to reattach it to get it back working.

Fingerprint sensor friendly case

Hello all. I had bought my v10 last week and got my third party case from eBay a couple of days ago and that's when I learned of the sensor issue. On mine, just like others, the sensor is nearly useless.
So I did some scouting and found the UAG case. I contacted the company in regards to this case and they claim the case works 100% with the fingerprint sensor. Has anyone here used the Urban Armor Gear case? Its a pretty pricey investment and don't want to flush more $$ on cases that just won't work.
Easy Fingerprint / Case fix
Just keep the case you like.
Cut a thin (~1") strip of aluminum foil long enough to connect both metal side rails (~3").
Lay it across the back of your phone so that it covers the bottom volume button and touches each metal side rail.
Then put the case on.
As long as your finger can brush up against the foil when you try to unlock, it works every time.
They'll eventually roll out an update that will address this, so don't worry about "cases that work", they're probably lying anyway unless they have a metal strip built in.

Hmmm. I'll try the aluminium strip thing.
I tried sending you a pic of mine, but this account is too new. Best of luck

Here is what I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64016697&postcount=12. It works fine for me just remember to smooth out the edges so they are completely flat else you have a chance of scratching the metal rails.

Hmm neat. That doesn't look too bad.
Alright. I added my foil as well. It works! Pretty dang ugly though. I didn't get mine as pretty. But hell, so far the sensor works!

All that really matters right? The pics I linked you were my second attempt the first wasn't as nice but then again I wasn't trying, it was more proof of concept. Good luck if you try it again.

Yep, just make it work. When I put the strip in, I didn't even cut around the hole like in your pics. It actually turned out pretty clean, the aluminum forms itself to the bottom button and looks kind of like a silver half-moon. I could see where yours could work better from some angles, but I never have problems, and am lazy. You can see it on imgur if you paste in mqJXBDY after the slash.

I actually didn't cut that part out I used the excess and rolled it up to line the edge of the cutout so when I touch the FPS my finger would still be in contact with foil without covering up the button. Pretty much my cuts of foil are the red lines with the arrows showing where the pieces were rolled to line the edge.
That is pretty slick.

Roxfit cover

It's been a while since I've posted on XDA... Found this ROXFIT PRO TOUCH case.... Premium Quality... I just checked the link and it's currently out of stock... Keep checking and get this case! You'll love it!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XD52Z7G/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ROXFIT Cover is back on Amazon with limited stock, hurry and order yours. I have to be honest tho, you'll love the look but it'll take ya a couple of weeks to get use to the case but I promise once you get use to the case, you'll love it! Hit the Thanks button if this helps.
Bought this case 2 weeks ago. Very good build quality. The semi-transparent, touch sensitive cover doubles up as a brilliant privacy filter/anti glare filter. When viewing messages or other text through the cover, you can only see what it says if your face is within 2-3 feet of the screen and *directly* in front of it. Any other angle or distance and it's super blurry. It's also very good if you need to view a notification or the time late at night during sleep hours, as it doesn't emit a glare.
Downside is that the proximity sensor doesn't always detect the cover because of the semi transparency, and as a result sometimes the screen is still on during a phonecall and buttons can be pushed accidentally. I have already gotten comfortable with this though and with unnoticed adjustment I now no longer have any issues with this particular problem.
One last thing, the plastic on the back is a fingerprint magnet. If you pride in your phones current shimmer/shineyness, this case quickly turns it into an intrinsic artwork of pinky marks.
Seems fragile
I just recived mine and I am very disapointed about the quality, I want to be optimistic, but I fear the front "semi-transparent" part will be very fragile (as in the HTC dot view of the One M9).
So does anyone who had it for a longer time could reassure me on the quality of the product, or tell me right away if it's of poor quality ?
Thank you for your answers :good:
PS : is it dangerous to turn the front part all the way to the back ? will it tear the plastic junction down or is it possible ?

Can we set the phone to do different things when opening the flap ? Like on the official case for the xz? and what about the automatic brightness? does the sensor turn the brightness down when you close the flap?

yes kinda
So, is there any kind of feature that keeps the transparent flap closed (as opposed to letting it flap around freely)? The huge problem with the official XZ style cover was that the flap was flapping freely. If one kept the phone magnetically attached to car's dashboard, the flap would constantly flap open and closed as the car accelerated and decelerated. That effectively made that cover unusable. Is this problem fixed in Roxfit cover?
