I updated to N900VVRUBMJE last night and woke up this morning to a SIM NOT INSTALLED (or similar message, I didn't save it). I fixed it by simply rebooting. I'll keep an eye out to see if it happens again. I've never had that happen on this phone (I've had the note 3 since the day it was released).
MJE wifi connectivity problems "staying connected"
I feel ya. I'm having problems with my home wifi. Works fine as long as i have at least 1 bar of service. I live about 1/2 mile from a cell tower but i think my home is in a dead spot because i can only manage to get 1 bar, if i go into my bedroom i loose signal all together but have full wifi bars but even with full wifi service in my room it still constantly drops wifi, i can only seem to manage to stay connected as long as i have 1 bar of service. I have already went into wifi settings and made sure the wifi auto switch was unchecked. I also opened root explorer went to efs, carrier opened hidden menu with texted editor turned the ON switch to OFF. Still no luck. So i changed it back after about a day. Im starting to wish i would had gotten the HTC Max.

Changing the Hidden Menu text from off to on only gives you access to the hidden menu...it does not do anything to change wifi or any other settings. Once you've set the hidden menu from off to on, you then have to go into the hidden menu by dialing *#27663368378# and then at the ServiceMode screen, press the hard menu button, then select Wifi, then press the button under WIFI POWER SAVE MODE to turn it off.
See the full thread here!
I did notice a decrease in LTE signal strength after updating to MJE and I have since flashed back the MJ7 modem and everything is back to normal.

I also noticed a tremendous decrease in LTE strength, but flashing the MJ7 modem didn't fix it for me unfortunately. I'm going to install SS, root, and flash CleanROM to see if it gets fixed somehow.
Overall, can those of you have that already installed the JE update provide any input as to how has the performance of the update has affected the performance of the phone?
I'm running Beans B4 right now, and would like to update to B5, but have to take the JE update in order for the ROM to work.
Any further feedback would be appreciated. :highfive:

I didn't notice any change in performance...either positive or negative. My initial OTA update did break video recording for some reason and it just didn't 'feel' right. So, I did an "emergency firmware recovery" via Kies and everything worked great after that, so I guess something just went wrong with the original OTA update. I didn't have any volume/sound issues to begin with, so I don't see any major difference...but I've seen lots of reports that people who were having issues are pleased with the results.
I did however notice that my LTE signal strength was terrible. I went to our local mall, where I usually have one or two bars, but can always make and receive calls. I kept getting 'no signal' & '1x' indicators. I got home and my wife said she called me six times...I didn't get a single one. I checked my signal strength while sitting in my bed & it was 106dBm. I then flashed the MJ7 modem that night & afterwards my signal was at 97dBm sitting it the same spot. The next day I went back to the mall and called my wife with no problem. I had her call me at five minute intervals as I moved throughout the mall and I received every call. That might not be scientific results...but I won't go back to the MJE modem. The good news is that you can update to MJE and still use the MJ7 modem like I did.
Hope that helps!
My experiences have been positive so far. My LTE Speeds have increased quite a bit. The only thing I've noticed....one of my Apps, Camera2, will NOT open, it simply crashes,

try going turning on the wifi switch and then hitting the wlan button in the comm manager
Of course, that doesnt help, it still goes off, if i do as u say anyway I can see its off by going to "Advanced" tab under wireless lan and it says under status Wireless Lan off
I am clicking to turn it on, its just now staying on
so is it working ??
its not working on mine either
Mine is not working either. If I go to comm manager (with switch on), it appears to turn on and then off within a second or two. A search for networks in my area returns nothiing (I am sitting one room away from an access point).

I've had an issue ever since I switched to Sprint and this phone.
Every once and a while the phone seems to loose connection to the network, but not tell me. My bars remain 3-5 and sometimes stay blue (sometimes they go gray). HOWEVER, all my Emails and Texts get backed up. They don't come through.
The first time I noticed I restarted the phone in the morning, and a ton of texts came through. Now that I've noticed I restart the radio ever so often if my phone goes a long time without any emails/texts and half the time stuff starts coming through again.
I think its the phone not the network though, any ideas?

I also have the same problem. I've updated my profile several times through the system updates on the phone itself and still the same?

I turn airplane mode on/off. Not sure if that's really "restarting" it but it fixes it faster than restarting the phone.
If I call tech support and ask them to update it they'll know what I mean right away?
EDIT: Also, what's the deal with this? Never experienced having to update my profile when I was with Verizon.
In the settings menu there are settings to disable the data connection, etc while the phone sleeps (screen off).. Verify that you have yours set the way you want it before calling tech support

All of those types of settings are OK. No battery saving stuff. I called and the woman said she was "refreshing" something to my phone. We'll see if it works.
I am on a rooted i777 and have been having signal issues pretty much for the two months I've had this phone. I've done some searching to see what the problem may be but have not come across much.
What happens is that when I have a strong cell signal I am able to send messages and make calls but about 60% of the time when I try to load a web page, update an app's content, or open the market (access the internet in general) I am unable to and left with an "unable to connect" message. During these times only the outgoing arrow of the two beneath the H+ is active. In such situations I switch to wifi but I would rather not have to, especially with an unlimited data plan. So my question is why is this happening and what can I do to fix it. I've nearly thrown the POS over this. It is very odd to say the least. It should be noted that I replaced my AT&T sim card a few weeks ago to no avail. Thank you
I've had similar issues. At various times throughout the day, my phone will be completely without signal or with signal but unable to get any data. I also changed the SIM card to no avail. I don't believe it's the phone but either AT&T or the settings.
Is it possible your reception is dropping off at these times? Does your phone switch to EDGE or GPRS?
Try changing your APN with one of the apps in the market. That tripled my speeds and once I get a new APN to stick, I suspect it will fix the loss of a data connection.
If that doesn't work, return it to bone stock and do a warranty exchange.

I had no data connection tonight and almost nothing worked. In the end, I turned Airplane Mode on and off. That returned my data connection.
I think once it loses signal, it only checks every x minutes. Mine would go a while with no signal, but pick it up immediately if I toggled airplane mode, as you found.
I am running up-to-date stock fw on my Droid Inc 4G LTE. I was out of the USA for a week and didn't bother getting a SIM for the country I was in so I just worked off WiFi the whole time with mobile network disabled. At some point, I was playing around with settings and found the high power setting that improves reception at the expense of battery life. I enabled it and worked with it for a few days without issue, it actually worked pretty nicely. I did notice a couple of reboots happen but it didn't seem associated with that setting (yet).
On my way back I was at the airport, and I started off with the setting disabled but couldn't get good signal, so I enabled it. I then looked at the list of detected networks and was about to select one to connect to, when suddenly my phone rebooted. Great, I thought, now I have to wait for this to boot. Except, once it hit the "droid eye" screen where it's loading the OS, it rebooted again. Then it basically kept doing that ad infinitum.
I booted into rescue mode (Vol Down + Pwr) and the only options I really had were to try booting again (still looping) or to reflash stock firmware, which was an awful thing to have to do at an airport with no recent backup, but I did it. It worked fine after that, but I lost all my text messages, app settings, a bunch of downloaded podcasts and audiobooks, had to spend an hour or so reinstalling every app and another hour setting everything up again. Not cool.
But yeah, pretty sure this was related to the high power wifi setting (perhaps in conjunction with having mobile network disabled). I can't really substantiate that with much evidence and don't have the time to try to reproduce it, but I'm just throwing this out there as a report.
Quick question - I did a manual install of B330 last weekend, and everything seemed OK, until I was looking at web page on the way to work. When my phone is on 4G (switching the phone to 3G mode seems to stop the issue) it seems to be blocking mobile data so just to be on the safe side, I did a factory reset.
Anyway - still doing this (as I checked on the way home tonight). What seems to be happening is that Chrome is ending up in the Power Usage Firewall list as a power intensive app, and getting blocked. If I untick it in the firewall page it's fine, until I look at the next web page.
My question is how do I stop power intensive apps getting added to the firewall?
Update - my phone just doesn't seem to like 4G connections at all - any app that uses data just doesn't seem to want to work, unless I switch the phone to 3G/2G mode. Nobody else having this issue? Should also have mentioned that I'm on 3 UK.

Check your settings. I don´t have such a thing on mine. Power usage is just a warning at notifications panel.
As for Three 4G, check your coverage. I've read the indoors coverage is a bit disappointing.

I've looked through all the settings I can find, and nothing is immediately obvious to change - Three 4G doesn't exist in my home town, but has a strong signal inside and out at my workplace. Plus this worked perfectly in B180. (and colleagues in the same office use 4G on 3 without issue on other makes of handset)
As for where to see the firewall stuff - Phone Manager - Battery Manager - Power Usage Firewall.

The list is populated, but the apps are only blocked if you select them to be so.
Even touching the app from the firewall list (not touching the check mark), you may choose if the app still runs in background after screen goes off.
You may have something wrong at the mobile network settings. Have you enabled "Mobile data always on"?

Yes - as I mentioned before, the phone works perfectly in 3G mode, which would also require the "Mobile data always on" option. It's only when I enable the 4G option that the issues show up - 4G performance is so bad most of the time it times out, and on the odd occasion it does work (rare) - it is slower than 3G.
It's frustrating as this was never an issue on B180.
Have you tried with other SIM? My experience is that reception is as good as B180 with 2 different networks, one being Vodafone UK.

Signal strength is fine - there are colleagues in the same room also on Three who have no issues with 4G, suggesting the network itself is OK.
Try Activity Launcher e browse around the options, specially the settings. There are hidden options, not available through Emui skin.

I'll give a try next week - not likely to be in a 4G area again until then.
Thanks for the suggestions so far though.
Strangely enough, I ended up in a 4G area yesterday, but a different part of the city. Phone worked flawlessly on 4G. Back in the same city, at work - nothing on 4G. 3G is fine.
Hopefully, final update - was playing around with the settings on the phone and tried changing it from smart power plan to performance, and 4G now works fine in the city centre. Don't understand why it needs performance in the city centre, and works OK on smart a couple of miles away, but I can live with the couple of hours shorter battery life I get.
Thanks again for the suggestions though.
