dropbox not syncing android to dropbox - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I opened a file from my dropbox using the app.
Made an edit and then saved the file with a different name.
It showed it saved this file in /sdcard/Android/data/com.dropbox.android/files/scratch
But if I now go to db app the file is not shown.
If I go to that folder using es file explorer it is there.
So why has dropbox not updated showing this new file?

ok some help understnading apk files

please help this windows guy/android noob figure this out. ok i'm thinking an apk file is equivalent to an msi file.
i download an app from the android store...
it downloads as apk file to /data/app...
ok so is that the final home for the apk file or does this extract and "install" files and folder in other locations on the internal memory or sdcard?
does the app run from this location? when uninstalled, is it removed entirely or are there orphan files that can be left behind? where is the data associated with that app saved? same folder /data/app/?
when titantium backs up an app, does it just copy the apk files from /data/app?
thanks

I was in a hurry when I posted the link and that was the best I could do at the time.
apk is more like a java jar file (in fact you can sign your apk with jarsigner in java) or self extracting zip. Don't quote me on it, but you need both the files in /data/app and /data/data to run the application. Some gets left inside the container, and files that get modified a lot are extracted to /data/data (along with data that personalizes the app for you, such as settings and profiles).
The xml manifest file in the apk tells it what permissions to ask for and what systems it can run on and such. If you get this http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/ you can reverse the apk so you can make sense of the files inside of it.
Titanium backup takes both the app and the data and stores them on the sdcard (unless you only tell it to backup the app, then it only takes from /data/app). The files located under /data/app are the entire application itself though and that will run if you give it to someone else as if you downloaded it from the market.
thanks for the great response.

[q] [other] how to move a picture through folders?

Hi chaps,
I was wondering how do I move a picture from a folder to another. I sent myself a pic through bluetooth and now when I got to gallery there's a folder called Bluetooth - I want to delete this folder and send the picture to a different folder.
Any thoughts?
DFN
using my file or file explorer or what ever your app is named.
copy and paste the picture to the folder you want.
delete folder you do not want.
I meant these folders (see attached)
you should still be able to deete subfolders from the pictures or image folder file using my files.

Extract files from an encrypted app

"Aplus centre"
_however, this app contains some pdf files that I really need
_those pdfs are downloaded every time i open the app and deleted after closing it
_I need help to get those pdf as files so i can print them
_app name: "Aplus centre"
_app link on play store: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=application.acenter.alisaleh.gsoftcompany
hope an expert sees my question
peace
Use file explorer
Open the app so that the PDF files are downloaded. Then keep the app open, don't close it.
Go to your Android file explorer and go to Android>data.
In this look for the app name. Must be something like com. followed by app name or app developer or something related. Check in that folder.

Navigate to data/misc/wifi and you will find a file named wpa_supplicant.conf. Using a file explorer such as ES File Explorer you can open wpa_supplicant.conf and use the in-built HTML or text viewer/editor to view the saved WiFi passwords in this folder.

Samsung File Browser... open .txt and .log files with a text file editor

If I click to open a .txt file or .log file in Samsung File Browser (or any file management app)... the Android OS says that there are no apps associated with these files extensions; and, opens Google Play store; which is not useful.
What do I need to do in order to automatically open an app of my choice, such as QuickEdit+ when I click on a .txt or .log file in File management apps such as Samsung File Browser?
On Windows OS, its very easy, I can tell what apps to automatically open when clicking on a file type. I just want to be able to do the same.
Thanks in advance!
i can usually just select the text file and then select open with then select the editor. most times that choice is kept for all text files but at times it might ask which app or if for one time or always.
