[Q] Whatsapp stuck (again) on Initializing - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
Due to some problems in my Smartphone (Android 4.0.3), I had to uninstall Whatsapp Messenger and reinstall it.
It was working perfectly before I uninstalled it.
But now, there is no way to have it working again. I should say I already have an active account till April 2014. So, I installed it both downloading from the Play Store and downloading from Whatsapp website. The result is the same:
1.- Once re-installed and being sure I have both phone line and wifi network, I start whatsapp.
2.- I accept the terms.
3.- Whatsapp ask me for my phone number. I introduce the same I always have: +34 abc de fx yz and OK
4.- Whatsapp discover the old databases and ask me if I want to recover messages from them. I answer yes, whatsapp tell me that 3.189 msgs are recovered.
5.- Whatsapp ask me for the profile details, photo and name. And the strange things start here:
5a.- It seems not having recognized my phone number, as it ask for my profile, that I feel it had to be known
5b.- In the name field, there is a number too similar to the one I introduced in 3.-, but NOT the same, no country code and the last 2 digits are zeroes: abcdefx00
5c.- By this time, no message, no phone call is received
5d.- No question about verify code is received.
6.- Anyway, I put my name in the profile name field and press NEXT
7.- Whatsapp goes to “Initializing, wait a moment ….” And nothing more…. It stay stuck there…. Non ending. Hours later, the only way to resume my phone is restarting the phone.
I already tried all the suggestions of the different forums: go without recover messages, download 2.8 and then reinstall with the most recent versión, download from market and then reinstall with the most recent from whatsapp website, erase the old databases.... Same result.
I found that last year there were similar problems that seemed to be due to whatsapp servers problems, and week ago also the verification server had also troubles... Could again be this the problem?
I am planning to do a "Factory reset" of my pone (HTC Sensation), but I would like to explore any solution before that one.
Any help, please?
Thanks and kind regards

[Q] Process com.android.acore Has Stopped Unexpectedly

I am running Cyanogenmod 6.1.0-beta4-harmony on a Viewsonic G Tablet since December 2010 and have generally found it to be stable.
However, I have twice over the past month been greeted by the above error when booting the device. After some research after the first time, I used adb on a Windows maching to log in and delete the entire database folder in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts since it did contain the journal file mentioned in one posting. That did resolve the problem, my contacts database was resynchronized from Google although I have may have lost a few of my over 3,000 contacts.
Today, this happened to me again and I did the very same thing and I am now waiting while the contact database is being rebuilt on the tablet.
I find this to be very troublesome, however, since I may not have access to a machine set up with the android development environment and being able to log onto my tablet to fix the problem. Further, since the error prevents me from doing anything on the tablet (it greets my when the tablet is booting) the tablet is useless until this can be fixed.
My questions are: (1) have others seen this on the G Tablet (yes, I know it is seen on other hardware), (2) are there other reasons for the error, and (3) is there some way I can fix this if I were to boot the tablet into recovery mode which does work?
Thanks.
Your contacts have been corrupted. You can either go to settings>applications and clear them there, or if you have titanium backup, wipe the data that way.
My advice moving forward is turn automatic syncing of contacts off by going to Accounts/Sync settings, clicking on your Google account, and unchecking "Sync Contacts".

[Q] Whatsapp Stuck on Initializing after Crash and Reinstall

So I had some sort of crash on my HTC Sensation where the phone rebooted, and all my whatsapp messages were gone. Whatsapp automatically backs up your messages every 24 hours, so I reinstalled to enable the backup.
1. After installation, when inputting information (after restoring your messages) and getting into profile info, I am stuck on an "Initializing: Please wait a moment..." box
2. This goes on forever
3. I have force closed, cleared cash, cleared data and tried again with no luck
4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (and reboot the phone) with no luck
5. I have uninstalled and installed the latest version from the whatsapp website (which has a different file size than the play store one) with no luck
6. I have redone this WITHOUT recovering my messages with no luck (even deleting the back up messages folder)
7. I can actually receive notifications from whatsapp, showing messages from groups / people, though clicking it takes me back to "Initializing"
8. Sometimes I get an "android.process.acore is not responding. Would you like to tell HTC?". This may be a separate issue as it still continues to "Initialize" no matter what I press
I can see 28 messages from notifications, some which are very important and urgent. Hopefully someone can help
Edit: I am using an unrooted HTC Sensation with ICS
Thanks
Update: Tried reinstalling using safe mode. Same problem happens, though instead of being stuck on initialization, Whatsapp force closes and stops working after about 2 minutes

I have the same problem. Stuck on "Initializing".
I tried to follow your steps, but they are not very clear.
Can you kindly elaborate the steps?
Thanks

Did the steps, but still stuck at initializing.
If your phone is rooted, try clearing dalvik cache. Other than that, I fear the only thing that you could possibly do is wait for an update.
I'm currently having (had) the same issue. I reinstalled a couple of times and suddenly it started working. I wonder if it was a problem on WhatsApp's end, because I didn't do a thing - suddenly everything was fine.

Did this:
- Uninstalled already downloaded version from Market on the cell phone.
- Downloaded Whatsapp from my pc, from their official website
- Transferred the APK to the cell phone, installed it.
- Left it a bit (a minute) at "initializing". Worked.
got it solved...

on 1st start of whatsaap it gave me msg about having custom rom can create problem as it does not support whats app..

3.installed whatsapp 2.8 which was backup earlier
4.clicked "Agree and continue" then entered my mobile no. but,it told me that whatsapp new version must be installed.
5.i then upgraded whats app from play store.
6.After installation was complete i opened it and it was started from same step of application of entering mobile no.
7. i entered no. , restored data from old backup of whatssapp, all messages were restored.
now my Display Picture , Name got appeared.
8.clicked next, shortcut of whatsapp was created. in 1 sec it got initialized, n continue button got appeared.

Been getting this error since this morning. Reinstalled whatsapp. Still didn't work. Then I reflashed my ROM completely. Still having this error. Any ideas? Getting android.process.acore has stopped as soon as I open Whatsapp.
Running the Revolutionary S5 mod on my S3.
same problem
I'm having the same problem. As soon as I open whatsapp it gets stuck for a bit in the initializing screen, then crashes and shows "android.acore.process has stopped". This happens in the XRom, Smartdroid rom and S5 revolutionary rom for s3. Any fix for this? :/

I had the same problem with Revolutionary S5 V3
what did the trick for me was installing an older version which i downloaded somewhere(but not too old cause whatsapp wont accept it) and use it to activate and initialize. Then i updated through google play and everthing seems fine.
As for the android.process.acore follow these steps:
First of all switch off the internet
- tap on setting and navigate to applications
- tap on all options and search for "google services framework" from the list
- tap on it and hit force stop to forcibly stop the application
- now hit force stop for the following apps
-> contacts
-> gmail
-> facebook
-> whatsapp
- reboot your system.
Cheers
WhatsApp slow initializing due to contacts problem. Confirm!

remote functions denying everything??

hello to all, and please pardon me for my bad english.
i bought this i9100 (i9100GSMH) from ebay, from a guy who said "i was unable to find lockscreen sequence".
i was incredibly lucky, found it after some 30-40 attempts, but this is where real problems started.
The device is fully functional, 2.3.3 stock Gingerbread, branded O2, simlocked and contains all the first owner put in, more than 400 images, music, family videos and so on.
Some 7 accounts, like hotmails, two google accounts and, this is fundamental, one samsung account.
it has a valid IMEI and appears not been stolen (i contacted the girl some 10 days ago, still waiting for a reply)
well it contains also two emails from two guys who evidently bought this device and wrote to her trying to obtain samsung account's password
well, long story short: if i try to uncheck "remote functions" it prompts me with a password request (that samsung account)
the same password it ask me if i try "factory data reset". i tried subscribing another samsung account (success) but can't put in the phone (it says there is already one)
examples: i delete all images and music, accounts, various apps (some 7 gigabytes) and reboot: everythings returns in his place!
every file i put in the cell disappears if i reboot or if i "format USB storage"
in recovery mode i can't select sd-ext (to install firmware from ext-sd), tried put in DCIM but everything i put in disappears
tried various firmwares with ODIN and official update by kies: they complete successfully their work, but after reboot i have the device in the exact state it was the first time i turned it on:
lockscreen, images, music, videos, accounts, emails, apps returns there, nothing was really never changed nor deleted, everything i copied in the device simply disappeared.
this baffles me, as i read tons of forums and posts about it but everyone says you can factory reset, install firmware at will etc.
this is not the case, someone can help me?
i'm going to ask directly samsung if they can send me the "change password page", i'm running out ideas
well some news, the original owner of the cell emailed me: it isn't stolen nor lost, she sold it.
she gave me also the password (good!) for the samsung account, so i can remove "remote controls"
the password is valid and i can also access the corresponding account on (findmymobile), where there aren't any device registered.
i can delete all accounts on the device but two: this samsung account and one by googlemail.
the samsung account on the phone shows nothing, is empty, i can only select "delete account" but it says i can't because some apps blabla.
the google one is fully working, i mean it receives mail too, and is needed by some apps blabla, i can not delete.
my problem is actually the same described here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474222)
i think there are only two possibilities:
1 somewhat similar to NAND RW corruption, hardware defect, probably unrecoverable
2 samsung account and/or googlemail accounts are gone ape**it and internal SD is kept in some "security" state i don't even know if one exists.
anyone please?

Micromax A35 isn't working fine after flashing Stock Rom

My phone was restarting at the logo. Software was corrupted.
I downloaded the Stock Rom from XDA developers, and followed every thread that could help me install fresh rom.
First problem I faced that flashing failed at FDL2.
Then somewhere on the forum I read that unchecking the calibration option in the download tool would help. I unchecked the calibration option, and lo! it flashed.
So, new software was installed. I was happy but that happiness didn't last long.
I noticed that the new software had some problems.
1. Dialer crashed as I tried calling or someone called me. As a result, I was unable to pick a call or make a call.
2. Bluetooth was successful in pairing with any device, but it refuses to receive or send any file. When I tried to send any file, there was no option of bluetooth in sharing. And when tried to receive any file from other device, there was no movement in my phone, while the phone showed the request rejected.
3. Camera clicked photos fine, but there was no preview on the screen. That is, when I opened the camera, it showed every camera option but the screen was black, there was no image of the person standing behind it. And when I clicked the shoot button, the image shot fine.
4. Internet connects, but only the sending arrow blinked; there was no receiving. Therefore, no site opened.
5. SD card, when inserted, mounted with no problem, but I was unable to delete or copy any file from it. I could only read files from it, i.e. installing software, etc.
6. Videos when played, only sound emerged, no video, even after installing MX player.
7. There was no calender in the menu, while I checked the system.img (with the help of Greenleaf_Yaffs-IMG_Manager on pc) that it was included in the system apps, but not installed while flashing.
8. IMEI numbers were changed. Bluetooth and wireless address were changed. Also, I noticed that bluetooth share app was not installed while flashing, though it was included in the stock rom.
Of all the eight problems listed above I could only rectify the crashing dialer problem and IMEI problem.
Using VRoot, I rooted my phone and using system_app_installer I replaced the dialer from the original stock dialer that I backed up earlier. I tried to install bluetooth share, but it only showed successful installation, but it did not appear in the list of system apps. I installed it several times, but each time it installed as if a fresh app, there was no prompt for a replace, and there was no result. Similar was the case with the calender app.
I rectified the IMEI using WRITE IMEI_R1.5.3001. The IMEI were written in the back of the phone so I could write the original IMEIs but I didn't have any idea of bluetooth and wireless address.
But I couldn't find any solution to the other problems for the past 1 month. I searched all over the net, but no avail.
Now, I think this all problem has its root when I unchecked the calibration option in the download tool. If this is the case, what should I do?
Please guide, friends. Desperately need your suggestions.
Thank you.

[Q] Hard reset my phone and now I can't log in my Google account, I can't do nothing!

My phone is a LG L3x (LG E425g) with Android 4.1 JellyBean. I hard reset the phone using the Settings menu but now when I'm setting it up it asks me for a Google account and here starts my problem.
If I said "Later" it ask me "Do you want to add an existing account or create a new one?" (even when I said "later") So I choose "Existing" and I have to log in with my account and it seems it works but then ask me again for the account, but now when I sign in (again) it say "There is already a [email protected] account on this Android device".
No matter what I do, it still appearing the same message. If I try to create a new account I put my name and last name and when I click continue message appears "Unfortunately, Google Account Manager has stopped". I hard reset the phone again but when I get this point the same error occurs. The problem is that I can't do literally nothing with my phone, NOTHING. I can't go to settings, I can't open any app, I can't open notification bar, nothing.
I've already reset the phone again. I create a new Google account on my PC and try to log in but it's the same. Please, don't tell me "Go to Settings..." or something because I can't.
Please help me

That sucks... I would try the hard reset via the built in recovery, which seems like it is only accessible via adb commands, oddly enough. If that doesn't work, then re-flashing the stock firmware might be next.
Finally
Finally I solved my problem =D
I suspected it was a software problem so I installed LG PC Suite and I downloaded the update for my phone (via USB), even when it was asking me for a Google Account.
After the update was completed, the phone restarted and it asked me for a Google Account again, so I put my info for the umpteenth time and finally it worked!!! Now the setting up process is completed and I'm able to access to the Play Store, Settings and other things.
I'll leave this information here in case anyone have the same problem in the future.
Thanks es0tericcha0s for your interest
