I've tried a dozen hotspot apps and none of them work for me.

Post 247 of beanstown's stock root 4.3 thread. Someone posted a zip you flash.

Hotshot?

Are there any third party apps (root or NON-ROOT) that allow me to use my hotshot. Wifi tether nor foxfi work.

Hotspot. Sorry darn auto correct
what ROM are you running? i am on CM10.2 at the moment, and the built-in hotspot in the settings menu works on it, and i seem to remember it working on the rooted stock Sony .257 ROM also.
In using stock .257 but rooted

My Ultra is completely stock and I just use the built in hotspot on the handset for tethering purposes. If your network and tariff doesn't allow tethering, then the hotspot may be greyed out, in which case you will not be able to tether at all. The wifi hotspot setting (on stock rom) is in settings, more, tethering and hotspot.

If your network does block tethering, it may be worth looking at rooting.

In case anyone else was wondering, all you need is the default tether app from T-Mobile and a tether widget. Set stuff up in the default app and activate via widget

This method alone did not work for me. I changed my apns, and the "tether _dun" value. I also deleted my upsell file. Worked like a charm. Unlimited wifi tether...no having to change user agents.
Also kuma's ROM is working perfectly for tether. Can't believe I didn't try it sooner.

Tethering after the new update

Just curious what everyone who took the update is doing as far as tethering. WiFi tether doesn't seem to be cooperating. Maybe my settings are incorrect or something. And the hotspot hack from captains thread supposedly causes data connection problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can seem to get that to work. It keeps freezing up before it gets going.

I checked out the settings over at the captains thread and got it running.

Hi, I've been working on correcting Hotspot-Hack for a while, with little success. JB Wifi Tether is the only one that has worked consistently for me.

It seems like "wifi tether router" uses a lot more battery than "wifi tether for root users". Seems like the phone gets a lot hotter to. I hope they come up with some kind of update to get "WiFi tether for root users" working with this 4.13

(Q) Connection to server lost YouTube mobile data only.

So on stock rooted 4.4.2 and all of a sudden over mobile data YouTube claims connection to server lost touch to retry. I've googled it and tried tons of things... I've wiped data on app and phone. WiFi works fine and its not my data speed. Any clues?

Android 4.4.2 stock WiFi tether

Hey just got the latest update from HTC/Verizon it disabled my WiFi tether through foxfi and if anyone knows a workaround (I already tried usb to router with no success) that would be awesome.

I think the only solution would be to get an app from the play store that isn't blocked if one exists, or switch to a custom rom like Viper DNA and on that wifi tethering works.

Alright thank! But yeah as far as running a custom Rom Windows 8.1 says it all lol!
