I have extracted all of the files and found the images for the icons that come with the launcher and I'm wondering how I can replace them with ones I have edited in photoshop...
I have modified them and tried placing them on my sd card then selecting them from "custom icon" but they wont show up full size like the stock icons do when I select one from "LauncherPro Icons".
Any help would be appreciated!
I don't know how to make a perfect Sense dock button replacement. Not even searching around on launcherpro.com/forum or lpsense.allo-mobile.fr/ made anything very clear.
In the meantime, for a custom icon, I've tried using a 640x480 transparent canvas with an ~350x350 icon in the bottom right hand corner of that canvas, exporting to png.
This seems to at least get the desired icon somewhat properly sized and centered in its dock area. Definitely not perfect though.
Editing your icons
Download Apk Manager 5.0 from xda developers website or search at google (apk manager 5.0 zip and you will find mediafire link), and try to edit the apk with it, first extract then edit the images then zip it then sign it, now uninstall previous apk and install new one(it was unable to overwrite the apk but installed after uninstalled the original).
All images are changed will create a new style sense ui using apk manager.
can anyone make a transparent status bar ?or do you know a guide and i`ll make one myself ,didn`t find one. i want for sense .
Manual method :
1. Pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework
2. Extract the apk and find the drawable MDPI/LDPI which there is a many icons
3. Find all status bar icon
4. Edit in on Photoshop or any editor
5. Change the opacity to 50-80%(0%=Blank no status bar LOL )
6. Copy the png to the apk(ZIP not the extracted one)
7. Push it to /system/framework
8. REBOOT and PRAY
actually it's the basic method and old method without theme choser
don't forget to backup the original framework-res.apk or NANdroid Backup
blank status bar is good, shows only time and others status but what about metamorph ?anyone with photoshop wants to do this ?my laptop is not powerfull enough ,the rom is wildpuzzle so you can download the framework apk from there.
Look for the 2 Sense Themes - WildDazzler and AeroFire (It's listed in the Theme Thread, Just search for it). Both descriptions state they have Transparent Status bars, so, you can just take it from there, if you do now want to have the entire theme.
flashed them both and they are ugly
If you read completely what I wrote above, you can use the Status bar files from them, if you are unable to modify it yourself.
Well auleu let me know what you have in mind and i'll give it a shot
Like 3xeno said if you want to try it for yourself just edit the framework-res.apk by unzipping it, going to either LDPI, MDPI, or HDPI (doesnt apply since this is Wildfire).
Edit the status_bar_backround.png and any other status_bar_* related items.
Once done go to the root of the folder, select all and say send to zip. Make sure your file extensions arent hidden. Rename it to framework-res.apk
Now you have 3 options,
1. access phone through recovery using
adb shell, mount /system, cd /system/framework/, rm framework-res.apk, exit.
Then cd to your edited apk and then
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
reboot (dangerous option, try only if you sure you done everything correctly, regardless make a nandroid backup before doing so)
2. edit my aerofire zip by extracting it, removing everything besides the framework folder in the system folder, now copy your framework-res.apk to the framework folder, removing whats inside. Go to root of folder, select all, right click, send to compressed zip. then flash through recovery, reboot.
3. head to the uot.dakra.lt/ and run the framework-res.apk through it customizing what you want and then flash the resultant zip file.
Hope that helps
Does metamorp or Zip Themer work on Wildfire?? Tried them many time but couldnt bring them to work...any guides/suggestions ...
I tried, keeps rebooting, dont really have a lot of time to test as i'm writing an exam tomorrow.
Thing is i'm under the impression that it only works on mdpi devices, correct me if i'm wrong about this
Is it possible to make a transparent lockscreen with the same way?
I use DK Custom Froyo Rom.
A transparent lockscreen is in fact the exact same process, only difference is that you modify the com.htc.resources.apk instead of the framework-res.apk. If you want some idea on what needs modding, take a look at my aerofire theme mod, just extract the apk needed and take a look.
Just search the forum for lockscreen mods and you can do just about anything with it. That being said, widgetlocker? who uses that and why? i find it so frustrating due to (and i know this is a bit perfectionist or whatever) the 1 or 2 second delay that occurs between pressing the power button and seeing the lockscreen, i mean come on, sometimes it even shows the homescreen for a split second before showing the lockscreen and thats just not on for me
did any one tried that. completely transparent status bar???/ is there a flashable zip?? srry m no developer. after trying hundereds of roms m bak to kwbr. lol

I use the app from Doomlord for that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123576
yes it will because it is another framework-res.apk but I can try to implement it, for now you can use the systemUI only, this will give you the transparant statusbar and notification background without the rest
edit :will add in theme, added in my to do list
I tried it now (but only systemui.apk yet), thanks!
However you got me a little curious: Have you tried to make it totally transparent (both statusbar and notification background)?
Of course it would make it hard to read if you have a bright background but for me that uses my own Monochrome (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129129) I think it would be nice.
You mean the white behind the text of a notification ?
Hi,
I meant the semi-transparent background in both cases. However, I tested a little in Paint.net and I don't think it would be a good idea to have the statusbar completely 100% transparent, it's fine as it is.
The notification backgound, I think that could be even more transparent without looking strange? Today it looks a little "steamy windows" but it is certainly better than original.
Thanks again!
Want to try but everytime I try via phone I get download unsuccessful :-( any ideas or can it be uploaded here

he guys I'm working on implementing the reboot option but I still advice to use the app from doomlord because there you also have the reboot in fastboot and reboot in recovery menu
V2 is out !!!
Reboot option in power menu added, this is originaly from AdamTt and can be found in his thread here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094730
Got it at last loving this theme thanks
Compatible with FR ?
don't know exactly what you mean, what is FR ?
a French firmware
yes, that should not give any problems at all
Does anyone know if there's a mod available to make the status bar transparent on the Legend (CM7.1)?
I came across following site: uot.dakra.lt/kitchen but it looks quite complicated
1. Make backup of your SystemUI.apk (and SystemUI.odex if it is there)
2. Download file attached
3. Put that file (SystemUI.apk) into your /system/
4. Set permission to rw-r--r--
5. Delete SystemUI.odex if it is inside /system/app/
6. Copy/move and replace modded SystemUI.apk from step 3 into /system/app/
7. Reboot
Note:
1. I set the status bar background to grey colored when you pull down the statusbar to avoid the date overlapping with clock.
2. Notification icons will overlapped with centered clock when it is too many. Dont have much time to at least try to find a way to fix it. If you do have, please share.
Edit: Dont forget to do nandroid backup..
If you are looking for transparent status bar for 7.1..
You can always apply this.. TGF-Theme-Patcher-7.1-Final
Thanks for your replies!
I installed attached SystemUI.apk according to instructions. After reboot I had a black non-transparent status bar with centered clock.
TGF-Theme-Patcher-7.1-Final gave me a bootloop. Luckily I made a nandroid backup..

Black non-transparent statusbar is known issues with some launchers and there are several ways to resolve it.
One way is to use livewallpaer apps (the reason it become black is simply because your launcher didn't "draw" your wallpaper below that statusbar thus those apps resolve it such as walypyrus etc) but it takes very big memory.
If you use Go launcher, just enable the high quality drawing in preferences then restart your go launcher.
If use adw, it is the "wallpaper hack" setting.
I'm using Launcher Pro. Should it work with this Launcher?

If you want to know if the mod will work in pro launcher, i cant say for sure but i think there is one option to enable high quality drawing as well for LP, you can try enable it and see how.
To make it even more complicated: I am now running CM 7.2.0 RC2
Has anyone managed to make the status bar transparent for this version?
Transparent status bar on Legend (CM7)?
I still do not fully understand the issue with applying a transparent status bar.
This is what I have tried so far:
- UOT Kitchen: uploaded and patched my framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk using Status bar mod. Resulting zip file has been installed with ROM Manager. (Option to wipe Dalvik cache was checked.)
- tried out several CM7 themes that include transparent status bar
- installed and applied MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
Nothing worked so far.
I am currently using Cyanogenmod 7.2 Nightly of June 3rd.
Does a rom need to be 'deodexed' to be compatible with themes that contain a transparent status bar?
And why aren't all custom roms just compatible with themes that offer transparency in the first place??

You cannot just simply take systemui and framework and mod it bcoz our cm7 are odexed. You have to de-odex it first.
One simple way is just take the apk i attached previously, push it to /system/app/, set correct permission on it, then afterward it will depend on which launcher you use. Can confirm it worked in latest nightlies cm7.2 using go launcher with high quality draw option enabled.
From my lovely nokia N-Gage
thanks Feed,
I have installed your SytemUI.apk and set correct permissions.
I also installed Go Launcher with options "High quality drawing" and "Support transparent status bar" turned on.
I have tried several themes with transparency, but status bar is still black.
Digital clock is now in the middle of sb though.
What do I do wrong?
Did you delete SystemUI.odex after you replace SystemUI.apk with mine? You have to delete that file (SystemUI.odex), maybe that is the cause?
It works!! I must have forgotten to delete the .odex file. Thank you so much for all your help!
I can confirm it works with Cyanogenmod 7.2 Nightly from June 10th.
It looks great with the Alpha 7 theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597008
I'm very curious to know how come your patched SystemUI.apk works whereas my rom is not deodexed?

Well, the simple version of explanation is, it is just the same case as when you install other apps (any apps) that is not odexed. .odex files containing some codes of the apps that is initial and will be loaded during certain stage during bootup thus make it faster for you to launch and run the apps. When you deodexed it, the process just combining/compressing/zipalining these two files (abc.apk & abc.odex) into single .apk file and basically everything inside it just pretty much the same as what is inside odexed apk version. Thats why it is still work even though all other apps is still odexed as your rom is not deodexed.
If you want to experimanting further, you can get some modded MDPI Mms.apk out there (that have conversation list of sms for example), copy and replace Mms.apk into your /system/app/ and delete the Mms.odex, then you can understand what i said.
Just can't get this to work
I deled the odex file, but the status bar is still black...
I use Go Launcher and I set the options: Hight Quality and Transparent Status Bar.
PS: I'm using CM 7.2 final

Unfortunately for us holders of the L5ii, Mediatek seldom release any sources. Because of this, it's extremely difficult -if not impossible- to create custom kernels for our devices. This also means we cannot install custom recoveries and installing a custom ROM is almost incredibly difficult and time consuming. I've created a work around that'll give an AOSP feel for the mean time. I've basically been decompiling and modifying the system apks, and it's been doing the job nicely. Let's jump in.

This is still very much a work in progress, as there are a lot of files to edit. Patience is a virtue
Requirements:
LG L5ii(I've only tested it on the E460, so I'm not sure if it'll work on other models. Feel free to try)
Root Access + Superuser
Root-Capable File Manager (I use Root Explorer but any should work)
Optional - Titanium Backup Pro
You have read through the whole thread, including the instructions, before following them.
Disclaimer-
I am not responsible for breaking/damaging/bricking your device. You are changing system files, and any files you change, you are solely responsible for. Proceed with caution.
This is a fairly simple install.
1. Make a full backup of your phone's internal storage. All of it. Just in case something goes wrong.
2. Download and extract the .zip file attached to this thread.
3. Copy the 'system' folder onto your SD card, and then to the root of your phone's storage. Grant root access to your file manager if it is requested. It may also ask to re-mount the partition, click okay if it does.
4. Reboot your phone. When it boots up, it should say something along the lines of "Android is upgrading". Wait for it to boot, and the changes should have been made.
Optional:
I'd also recommend installing the Google Keyboard, and an AOSP-based launcher such as Nova Launcher or Holo Launcher. Convert these to System Apps using Titanium BackUp. You may also wish to delete the 'old' system apps from your phone. At the moment, I've found it is safe to delete "CameraApp3.apk", "Gallerybin.apk" and(They're too big to attach, so I have to wait till I can post external links) "Calculatorbin.apk" as AOSP equivalents are included. If you install the Google Keyboard and alternative launcher and have them set as System Apps, I've found it's also safe to delete "LGEIMEbin.apk" and "LGHome3a.apk". Though, make sure you set them as their respective defaults before hand. This is especially vital for Google Keyboard.
5. Reboot once more, just to be sure that everything sets in. Then, you're done.
What's Currently Changed:
Status Bar and parts of it's 'expanded' state
AOSP Camera+Gallery
AOSP Calculator
'Google Play Edition' boot animation
Sun Beam/Phase Beam live wallpapers
What's Currently Being Done:
Other parts of the status bar + 'expanded' state
System dialogues
What's Planned to be Changed:
Settings
Messaging
Dialer + Contacts
AOSP Browser
Clock
Lock Screen
Calendar
Email
Anything else that I'm capable of changing/AOSPifying

The easiest way I found for trans statusbar is Xposed and Gravitybox. It has the option to adjust transparency.
Very nice, indeed it work on the E450.
How ever i have a question.
What is the LG stock "apk" that is in charge of the status bar and notification tray. I ask since i use it stock (without your changed) on my 2nd device and i have tinted status bar for a kitkat effect.
It work fine but when i pull down the notification tray, it is black (almost Holo theme) but the bar it self...that is semi-transparent as kitkat.
I could fix it if i found the statusbar "apk" or the one that is in charge of it to add the black collor on tinted statusbar options.
Sorry to ask such a non related question. But as you did change the stock, i was hoping you could share a light = )

I could not find the systemui.apk on the list that the module in question (tinted statusbar) show. I found odd since it show all the others from system.
But thanks, on that module there is no bootloop danger since it dont change the xml and .apk . It kind of detect it to "reskin" after the boot
Thanks to clarify the most close to find is if i make the module to detect the systemui.apk and search the xml in question, it realy help

No, it is actualy Brasilian carrier.
But it is possible they do the same as T-mobile as all the logos of boot screen is theyr.
Thanks for the pack, it looks great. But I have a problem. I can't manage to restore the status bar. I replaced my LGSystemUI.apk with a wrong one, and now a can't restore my status bar. Do you have any advice?
Er..but the original 'system' folder at the root of our device contains the build.prop. So when I try copying and pasting the modified 'system' folder it prompts me to either overwrite it or skip it. I'm scared that overwriting might brick my phone while rebooting.
please tell me if I'm wrong.:fingers-crossed:
