So I managed to S-OFF and root my droid dna along with getting clockwork mod installed and I wanted to get the nightlies CM 11 to get android 4.4. I was about to write a new thread because I thought I was stuck on recovery when rebooting, but I am currently restoring my phone from the backup I was told to make (thank god ) but I need to know how how to push the cm 11 file with adb into the internal storage. I need someone to help me with basic instructions on pushing the cm 11 into /sdcard so I can flash it.
You can either sideload the Rom from computer to your phone or you can download the Rom on your phone. Be sure to follow instructions. Download Rom and gapps. U can flash it through the recovery

I actually tried plugging my phone into my pc and put the .zip into the internal storage of the phone and I went to clockwork mod and found that .zip, attempted to flash that, and it didnt work. It gave me an error and I forgot the error code. If you want I can retrieve it again but if you know what to do without it, what now?

When you say I can download the rom on my phone do you mean to download the rom from my web browser and have it saved in my downloads folder and flash?
Yes that's correct. It will automatically go to your downloads folder

You have to use CWM 6.0.4.4 or higher to flash 4.4+ I'd say that's your issue. If you are rooted you will have to flash root after CM 11

Download the new version and flash it in fastboot.
Another few questions. One, from what I understand the highest version of cwm specifically for my droid DNA does not go up to 6.0.4.4, but rather 6.0.3.1. Is there a way to get this working or do I have to wait for a newer version. Also, how would I update my cwm to this version; what do I do to update it IF I get that 6.0.4.4 update. One more thing, you said I need to flash root after cyanogen mod 11. How do I do this?

The 4.4 threads should have a link to a compatible version of CWM. Flash it in fastboot just as you did with the prior version. As far as superuser, you shouldn't need to flash it in recovery since its already rooted and has superuser. I believe flashing superuser was required for the new Sense 5 update until developers released prerooted ROMs.

1. I was in rom manager earlier and noticed it says I have both CWM and TWRP installed. I remember installing project freegee w/CWM but not TWRP. Is this an error? If so, is it an issue?
2. I'm seeing something about CWMtouch or whatever. I just installed what came with freegee. I'm not quite sure how to use adb for the updater script. Is it necessary that I install this? Is freegee using a way outdated version?
Thanks in advance.

You need to upgrade to a new recovery. The one that came with free gee is broken, so any backups you made with it are no good. I personally use sk8's recoveries, but TWRP is good to go too.

I don't use rom manager, but I'm pretty certain you can only have one recovery. Also, the updater script isn't needed either.

How did you root and what root are you using (SuperSU or Superuser)?
All you did was root? Did you install any root applications?

I always flash using TWRP also :highfive: But it's just some ROMs for me that have these kinds of bugs.
I would just flash a new ROM if I were you, unless you plan on staying with the stock ROM? If so, you should probably pick up another one, because your UI shouldn't constantly ANR.

Or even easier if you are on the latest hboot/radios, CleanWipe and flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260154 or move into a new world with CarbonRom or something similar!
I recently went through the process of trying to update my recovery rom (yes, all rooted up already!).
The problem I was running into was while the tools (TWRP manager, ROM Manager, Goo Manager) all said the recovery was flashed successfully it wasn't.
During the course of my many attempts (which included some hangs, removal of the battery, etc) all of a sudden the updated recovery ROM appeared!
I have no idea what sequence of events resulted in the right behavior, either the tools are not really flashing properly, or there is some black magic (more likely) process which is restoring the recovery ROM.
What's the proper process to change/update your recovery ROM?
Sure yo are rooted but what firmware are you on, unless you're on mdk you can't flash recovery. So if your firmware says me7, mi1, or mj7 you're sol (ull find it under baseband in the about phone setting)

Just tried this process to upgrade to newest CWM recovery 6.0.4.7 (currently on 6.0.4.4). COuldn't update via rom manager (again says it flashed successfully but still running old version).
When I run the install-cwm.cmd script in that loki package, I get a permission denied when it tried to run the loki.sh script on my phone.
Any more ideas??

Have you tried flashing a reovery .IMG from clockworkmod.com...you can use flashify from play store...heard a lot have had success with that
I have not luck getting the custom recovery and I'm looking for a very explanatory guide of how to flash a custom recovery so I could give a try to ny of these two roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559335
and here is the original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674238.
Im on MDK and rooted.
This tutorial is for people with A2 Bootloader only. If you are already on official KK with A3 bootloader, don't use this since it will fail.
A lot of people are wondering how to go back to JB roms from Kitkat. So here's a little guide of how to do that without downgrading back to MJ5.
Assuming you are already on Kitkat rom with root and Safestrap installed.
Please download this togetsafestrap first.
DOWNLOAD ME FIRST
Extract the togetsafestrap folder somewhere you can access easily. ( Credit to Drakey for togetsafestrap method)
**** First backup all the data especially your phone internal storage since everything will be deleted. *****
1. Download the JB rom of your choice and copy it to external SD card.
Skip step 2 & 3 if you are not on SafeStrap 3.7.2
2. Uninstall the SafeStrap recovery.
3. Delete/Uninstall the SafeStrap 3.7.2 apk.
4. Install the SafeStrap 3.71 and install the recovery. (please make sure it says installed.)
5. Put your phone into download mode by either press power, restart, download mode if your rom has 4 ways reboot OR power the phone down, load into download mode by holding volume down+Power+Home buttons for few secs.
6. Connect to the pc. (Make sure all the drivers and everything is configured correctly.)
7. Open Odin from the extracted togetsafestrap folder earlier. Your phone should show up as connected.
8. Put AP and BL from togetsafestrap and press start.
9. Once everything is done successfully, the phone will reboot.
10. Now you should see the Safestrap recovery splash screen and click recovery.
11. Now make sure you wipe everything. (Dalvik cache, cache, data, system under Advance)
12. Install the JB rom of your choice from your external SD card
13. Once the rom is successfully flashed, just reboot it normally and you will be back to JellyBean rom with fully working Safestrap.

Let me know if you have any questions.
All credit to Hash and Drakey.
Thanks to Conekiller for those who have trouble installing 3.71. Please try out the method he did and report back if it works same for you.

For those of you having the issue with safestrap 3.71 not installing the recovery here is the way i was able to do it.
Reinstall the 3.72 recovery
boot into safestrap recovery
wipe rom slot
flash (install) desired jb rom via safestrap
wipe cache/dalvik
go back to main menu
reboot and select download
odin files from op
reboot
setup as usual
install safestrap 3.71
it will show newer recovery
hit uninstall recovery
hit install recovery
done

You can only do mods , flash and restore backups of the same android version, if you're in jb with safestrap then you use it to do all of those, if you're in KitKat now with the update for safestrap you can do the same, but you need the comingfromjb.zip to upgrade to KitKat, and this method to go back to jb. You can use Odin for any mods as long is the same android base.

Yes , the process is due to the fact that since we don't have an unlocked bootloader the different bootloader and files like modem and have to be done in Odin, that's why the two step process to go back and forth. But yes I just finally upgraded to kk, just setting up right now, to get safestrap added. I've had a bunch of previous devices and all got unlocked bootloaders so this was a learning process for myself too, but once you learn it, is easy going back and forth.
