Hello!
I want to install a custom rom, but EVERY rom has a Unlocked Bootloader.
It's okay, but every bootloader's tutorial have a very big important like this:
"If your phone's manufacture date is 11W29 or PAST 11W29, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER. IT WILL MOST LIKELY RESULT IN A HARD BRICK (though some users managed to successfully unlock)."
My phone's manufacture date is 11W49.
So, what can i do?
Sony XPERIA X10 mini pro
With many thanks, SnikerFreak

My suggestion is not to try n unlock ur bootloader as chances of survival are less...some users have also managed to unlock with 11W29 and past...good luck matters..:good: sometimes...

Hi,
What exactly does a unlocked bootloader do except load custom kernels?
Does it mean that I can SIM-Unlock my two X10 Mini-phones?
If not, is there any cheap way to unlock the X10 Mini?
Cheers!
An unlocked bootloader only "allows" you to load fully customizable kernels and roms onto the phone. Devs can also port other OS and functions if needs be (theoretically). An unlock bootloader by itself does nothing. A dev will have to then make use of the unlocked bootloader
The x10 bootloader unlock method does not unlock network. You will need to do this separately
I believe also that there's a cheap way to unlock using Setools. Do a search via google to find different sites. Hopefully someone can provide a link to one that they know and trust.

You can remove the SIM lock with setools but I think you need an "unlock box" (equipment) for that. You can also just do it with cable and software from XperiaUnlocked for the Xperia x10 Mini
Hi guys,
i've bought the SK17i in Italy and this have the firmware 4.0.A.335 I need a lot root it and a easy tutorial for that (better if is videotutorial) I wait ur answer thanks a lot Tyrigi.
Same here.
there is only one way to root your mini at the moment.
its really complicated and there are no videos about it.
so i guess you should probably wait until there is a easier root solution
you can easily unlock the bootloader for getting rooted. it's not as difficult as you think.

I found a 2nd solution on this board again but i don't understand if finally a branded sk17i bootloader can be unlocked or not. Some people say yes, and others no. I want to post a message but it 's in development area so i have to wait 10 messages.....and tis is my first one

Hy!
I have a same problem... I tried a lot of thing, but... If in your Service Menu it say "Bootloader unlock allowed: No", you can't do anything.
Every method need to boot Fastboot mode. If your phone is branded, and not allowed to unlock bootloader, you cannot start the Fastboot mode... Now.
The Branded SK17i Team waiting for the solution
pls try the s1 tool method. it's a little complicated. but you can do it. and the you will not lose your DRM.
I tried it... I can't enter Fastboot mode.
I think s1tool TP method is only work if your Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes...
tell me exactly what you did to enter into the fastboot mode?
@irumbustalin, do you mean s1tool can unlock branded sk17i?
If not, as soon as Orange unsimlock my phone, will i be able to root it after?
Thanks a lot,
Sorry but UP UP!
Recently i have relocked my bootloader, and i give it to se for checking my phone's problem
Now,my xperia ray is back
and i want to unlock bootloader again
and what can i do?
ps:all 2011 xperia phone use the same way to unlock bootloader,so please dont say this is xperia mini/mini pro/active forum.
i want to know the answer to this too.. is it the same bootloader unlock key? thanks..
Yeah. The same bootloader unlock key.
Grab it again from http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com , if you didn't save it at first time
It should be the exact same way you did it the first time. I don't see why it would have changed to be fair.
Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it
Docomo unlocked at purchase for $39 USD

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!
Hi,
I have been reading up alot recently about rooting and flashing my phone (Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray) as currently my carrier (O2) is not releasing ICS for updates as they have not "tested" it sufficiently on my particular device (this was there explanation to me via email).
I have looked on the official sony ericsson website trying to find a way to update my phone and found that the method there required my phone to have an unlocked bootlader but unfortunatly my phone has a locked bootloader (im assuming due to it being locked to O2 although it is a pay as you go model).
I have read conflicting opinions on whether you can root and flash your phone in my situation and was just wondering (before i tried anything at all) whether someone could clarify if it would be possible to update my phone to ICS.
For reference this is my phones status:
Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Thanks
Try find generic ics for ray, flash it using flashtool.
Or u can pay to make your bootloader unlockable.

When you follow the Link Tutorial you have at the end Root and ICS on your Ray, without unlocking your bootloader (unlocking bootloader causes probably in lost your warranty!)
You need unlocking Bootloader for new Kernel and/or some Custom Rom´s, but there are some rom´s for locked bootloader.
Don´t forget to save your build.prop in /system befor you do something from the guide! With original build.prop you can flash your phone to O2 original software when there are something to repair in service center.
