How does the RC2 work? If this is my first time using this rom do I have to install both RC1 and RC2?

Yes install RC1 reboot go through the initial setup then reboot to recovery and flash RC2 without wiping as the name implies it is a patch

dev options
I can't seem to locate the developer options...I found the unknown sources, but in 4.1 I had a bunch of other options for a variety of things that I can't seem to find anymore. am I just missing them or are they gone?

AVRCP 1.3 support?
Got a new car, and my One X+ doesn't sync the artist/track info to the stereo while playing music. Google says the phone needs to support AVRCP 1.3 in the bluetooth stack. Do we know if that is part of this ROM?

this is an issue with android 4.2.2 you can post in the google code thread found here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=48321&sort=-id&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars it mentions the nexus but does apply to all 4.2.2

a little more info on this:
There’s no denying that the switch to Broadcom’s Bluetooth stack in Android 4.2 has created some stressful situations for frequent users of the short range networking technology. The added attention also raised awareness for some features that are woefully lacking in the OS, something that other OEMs have been working to resolve independently. To a round of applause during the Best Practices for Bluetooth Development session, Sara Sinclair Brody announced Google will finally address two of the most popular requests. Beginning with API level 18, Android will officially support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and AVRCP 1.3.

Xposed Framework
Just got everything flashed and it looks great. One thing though. Do I need to factory reset and go through setup again to get the Xposed framework installer, or is there somewhere else I can find it?

Screen auto-rotate bug?
Howdy,
I got the framework installed by re-flashing, which was no big deal. I was like "hey Sense 5 doesn't suck now".
I'm having one little issue though, which is that I can't get the screen to rotate when I'm in a browser. I've tried Dolphin and Chrome. I was worried that I might've tweaked something in the Sense 5 toolbox, but I can't find anything that seems like it might be related.
Help?

Confirm or deny - Voice action web search broken on Slim Bean

Could someone with a Jelly Bean ROM, or more specifically Slim Bean on their Vibrant tell me if their voice search works as it should.
Mine listens to what I have to say, loads up the browser, but doesn't actually initiate the search?
FWIW, all other voice actions work, eg: "Send text to xyz" or "Call xyz Home" etc...
Stoked with this ROM (2.9) now that I've sorted out a lot of intricacies, but still finding a few bugs...
Thanks in advance. :cyclops:
Try installing the JB4.2 gapps instead: http://d-h.st/sPL (this patch makes gps stop working on SlimBean rom)
You can also do this manually:
Delete the /system/lib/Velvet.apk and the /system/lib/libgoogle_recognizer_jni.so.
Reboot, then install Google Search from the Play Store.

Flashed the file and it fully broke search and also broke the clock LOL. Had to Nandroid back.
I'll try the manual method...
EDIT - I actually don't have either of those two files in /system/lib ??
Just flashed the newly released Slim Bean 3.0 and all is fixed. This makes me very happy
The Velvet.apk is the actual Google Search app, usually in /system/app if its installed permanently in the system. The lib file is in the /system/lib folder, without it Google Search will not work. When you install Google Search app from the PlayStore, it extract the lib folder to an appropriate folder.
But anyway good that you solved the issue.

Yep, Slim 3.0 fixed this issue, but broke my GPS which has been solid on every ROM this phone has run up to this point. Not sure what happened there?
I was thinking of trying out Paranoid, no reason not to now!
Install this GPS patch and you're good to go. This and performing the hardware fix made my Vibrant have better signal than my Galaxy Nexus and the XPeria Play which also has GLONASS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33844820
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Thanks man. I already have that patch flashed. It does make some difference, without it I now don;t even get the GPS icon come up in the notification bar. With the patch the icon comes up (with the dot flashing) but zero sats in sight/in use
I'm kind of stuck now, this ROM is perfect apart from GPS, I can Nandroid back to 2.9, it had solid GPS but a few other problems, I've also tried flashing Paranoid and CM10 and both come unglued with a status 7 error I can.t get past
I don't have any problem with it on my Vibrant and Galaxy Nexus. Can you try wiping data and cache, then format /system partition, then reflash everything.
To flash other roms you need them to have the compatible version of CWM. So flash the rom once and you will get Status 7, don't reboot but flash it again immediately and it should reboot the phone into a boot loop. Then pull battery and boot back into CWM, you will be in a new version of CWM. Flash the rom the third time and it should work.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Thanks...
I can never get to the bootloop stage, just the status 7 over and over. It's a bit odd.
I've managed to get pretty much this same conversation going in 2 places now, what a spammer

If you must, Odin back to stock, update it to CM7, then to ICS Passion rom, then to a JB rom.
Or you can just flash a kernel first, reboot recovery and flash the ROM. I would try semaphore 2.5.0v
???
Good point, that should work.

That did it. Kernel flashed straight in and then the ROM just punched its way straight in :cyclops:
I don't quite understand why flashing the bare kernel first should make a difference but it certainly does.
And hello GPS! Went from dead in the water to locking within 10 seconds indoors?
Safe to say I'll be sticking with this ROM unless I find something really broken in it.
Thanks Guys.
The error was because of recovery mismatch. Some people don't get the error from it, it will just flash a d bootloop. Flashing the kernel first, gives you the proper recovery version.

All you have to do is add net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to your build.prop file and then you can remove or freeze the entitlement check app if you want to. Sprint model requires ro.mot.tether_dun_required to change from 1 to 0.
For people who don't want to mess with modifying their build.prop file or use xposed. I made an app which requires Root, that will run a setprop command to bypass the check until you reboot. If you want it to last after a reboot you can select apply of boot to run the command after every reboot. This was tested and confirmed by cvhovey thanks to him for testing it for me, since I have free tethering. This is my first app so I hope you Enjoy it! I want to say thanks to jcase's slapmymoto and the developer of adaway, I used their github sources as references when I couldn't get something working. Also androidicons for the icon template, and Poliva for setpropex, and jduck for getting setpropex working on KitKat.

Hey guys, I just wanted to update and say it won't boot on the Verizon dev edition like the T-mobile rom will. It freezes for me on the Moto Earth boot animation. Noo! Well darn, I was wanting to try the sprint rom to see if I could get google wallet tap to pay working on my vzw dev phone since no one has figured out how to make tap to pay work on the non-sprint variants.
I booted the deodex version just fine on my vzw Dev edition. I wiped my data and wiped cached before flashing. I didn't try g wallet

YES!!!! It worked!!! LOL. Anyway, have you/anyone noticed anything when trying to alter the stock boot.img? Seems like anything I tried (not a whole bunch really) with the kernel/boot.img made it non-bootable? Pretty much if it hits the bootloader unlocked screen and doesn't vibrate.....its a no go? Wondering if theres some type of checksum for the boot.img? Not too sure about wallet ATM. Don't really use it, and this is based off the OTA so....I'd assume it should be fine? I remember some stuff way back on this, may have to step back and see if there's something to utilize. This isn't my first rodeo.....but it's the first one I've entered.

Yeah I wipe three times before flashing and I wiped cache and dalvik again before booting. I wonder what the issue is. I downloaded the odex and not deodex but I don't see it being the difference between booting and freezing. Hmm. I'm back on the T-Mobile rom now. I'll have to try again with the deodex tomorrow

Was just using the kitchen tool. Anytime I touched the boot.img it wouldn't boot up..... Or it would not vibrate at the splash screen, boot up, but not "see" user touches on the screen. Acted like the digitizer was totally off. Something I noticed is if it vibrates at the splash, it was good. No vibrate, definitely something would be wrong. Going to take my time with it next week.

I recommend wiping system and data too and trying. Just make a backup first. And/or try using your normal boot.img instead of the one in the zip.

i take it then you arent packing the Device tree file to the boot.img.
http://pastebin.com/tSGxTmYq save this script, run it against stock boot.img. youll get a DTB.img, extract your boot.img, edit what you want in ramdisk or swap zimages. then use a modified mkbootimg to include the dtb file as part of it all

I got the sprint deodex rom booting on my vzw dev edition doing like you said. But sadly I found google wallet would not work. It just sat saying "finishing up a few things." So I guess unfortunately there is a hardware issue preventing wallet from working on the non-sprint variants. That sucks!!!
I don't understand why but I noticed between the t-mobile, verizon, and sprint roms that the signal bars are slightly different on every one. Sprint's seems to be stretched out a little more and have an extra bar or two. I hate all of them though because the grey has some funky white lines through it where the separations are instead of being solid grey. I don't know what was wrong with the stock android signal bars that none of the carriers wanted them
I have a question regarding safestrap, can I use it to unlock my bootloader and just flash this to my nand? I dont want to waste my space on rom slots :\

Honestly have no clue about SS. I would have to say no. No sure what needs to be done for it to be SS flashable.

I plan on adding the SPRINT specific firmwares, and more in due time.

Its an aroma installer with many options..one being disable he overlays..FYI..uber kernel never ran great for me with PAC nightlies. So I just stuck with original kernel during aroma install.
Don't forget to thank pollution.

Thank you for the link, directions are simple a little to simple to be true. I installed what I wanted and even flashed cache as it was an option. A noob I am and now I have "the process com.android.phone has stopped" now I can not get rid of it. Going back into recovery and see what I can do. Last resort a whole device reflash and then install this patch piece by piece (I only selected what is needed 3 items).

Reflash the ROM of choice..clean install ( wipe cache, dalvik cache, data, and system ) not internal or external sdcard.
Let ROM boot and chill for about ten minutes..then reboot recovery and flash pollution aroma. Don't flash the uber kernal..or any other. Just pick disable hw overlays and a boot animation, if you want. Then pick clear cache and dalvik and reboot. Should be good to go. Let me know how it goes.

Gil is giving some solid advice. The only thing I might add is flashing the rom once by itself, then flash the rom again with the gapps. you can get 2 different results from 2 different flashes. It merely helps embed the rom in a bit better.
I rarely have issues with my cleanliness.

***Guys This Is A Port So remember it will have small glitches here and there but all in all should be stable ***
For starters HOW TO INSTALL a ROM by SAC23
Installing with TWRP (View All Supported Devices>>> Find TWRP for your device):
Philz can be used and I will post instructions for it later https://www.mediafire.com/folder/qc3z1c59s8g03/PHILZ
This assumes that you ALREADY have TWRP Recovery installed on your phone and you know how to use it.
Download the ROM of choice...move it onto the EXT SD CARD.
VERY IMPORTANT>>> Move all music, pics, important data from internal storage to the ext SD card and/or to your pc, etc. because during this process, the internal will be completely erased.
Recommended Method to Flash SACS Custom ROMS using TWRP
Boot into TWRP
Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe
Select Dalvik, System, Data, Internal Storage, and Cache. Swipe to Wipe (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to previous Advanced Wipe screen.
Select Format Data, Type YES, Press GO. (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to previous Advanced Wipe screen.
Swipe to Factory Reset. (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to MAIN menu and STOP HERE !!!!! READ NEXT STEP CAREFULLY....
[*]Select REBOOT INTO RECOVERY mode and Swipe to Install Super User. DO NOT REBOOT INTO SYSTEM!
[*]AFTER THE PHONE REBOOTS INTO RECOVERY:
NOW proceed with installing The ROM
Select Install Zip, Drill down to Sac23's Rom you want to flash, and Swipe to install.
Follow on screen instructions (if there are any).
When prompted, REBOOT SYSTEM.
THE FIRST BOOT WILL TAKE A MINIMUM OF 20 MINUTES..... SOME DEVICES EVEN LONGER...
.
.
HAVE PATIENCE
When the Home Screen appears and it is obvious that the install has completed, allow the phone to settle for another 10 minutes BEFORE you begin setting up your personal preferences and accounts.
If everything seems normal, set your phone up and profit.
IF IT WON'T BOOT....(IF YOU HAVE A REMOVABLE BATTERY)...try pulling battery and replacing battery then restart phone and you should see "Android Updating"
After setting up your personal info and you are now ready, the first thing you should always do after flashing any ROM is to go to settings, system updates, and refresh/update your PRL & PROFILE then reboot the phone. Second thing is go to settings, more networks, mobile networks, network mode, and select LTE/CDMA.

Cannot install as OP describes.
Only way I've found is to flash @sac23 TWLP 5.0 V2 then dirty flash MOAR LP.
Biggest issue I've found, to make this not a daily driver is when calling, other people on line cannot hear a word you're saying.
Back to N4 port.

@Nickitt
We are working in the incall issue with @sac23
Just out of curiosity. With this being an S5 port and if anyone remembers the original S5 port. Anyone having issues with the mic. and sound issues. Have you guys messed with any of the sound options in mod control? Like normal, loud, extreme sound mods. Not sure if @sac changed them, if he did not then when trying them on the note 3 it will break the mic. because they are meant for the S5. Just asking. I have been running this since this afternoon and have had many calls today and no issues here. I have not messed with the sound mods.

You would be the first person that has flashed this Rom to have working sound/mic in calls. Yes, people can receive and call perfectly fine but when you talk, no one can hear you.
I've flashed this Rom 3 times now differently and messed with some system applications in hopes of fixing this issue myself but to no extent.
If you can actually talk to the other person please tell us how you went about installing. Thanks.

Does work for me. Perfect, thank you.
When using automatic brightness it seems at though it goes all the way dim so you'll have to un-check auto and set it to your liking.
When disabling the s finder and quick connect in MOAR settings, it is still there when on the lock screen and you pull the notification bar down.
When pulling s-pen out, you cannot use pen on screen doesn't recognize you're touching the screen with the pen.
It realizes you've pulled it out from the slot but that's about it.
Has anyone have bluetooth working? I haven't been able to get to work.

This patch did not work on my device... thanks Went back to Sac's Note 4 ROM....
Edit: I reflashed the ROM waited until it was completly setup then rebooted and flash this patch and it does work
Working?? It is for me.
Ok so this is what I did, None of this is my work, I took no part in any of this development, I think I just got lucky.
Wipe
Wipe
Wipe
Installed Sacs ported rom V2, no reboot straight back into Recovery
Installed Sacs Moar Port, no reboot straight back into Recovery
Installed Sacs Moar Port fix for the mic problem
Wiped cache and davlik rebooted system
Went thru the entire setup made sure things were good and made a backup
Then I dirty flashed this right over....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-tw-note-4-port-5-0-1-darklord-rom-1-t3017604
This is the link for the 1.4 file https://mega.co.nz/#!XYw0TArb!7DoNDNHAK-1H0RBcyUMR0qPPtdarKCtR6uA7QTKeiDw
It kept just enough of Sacs rom to work... bluetooth works, data works, S pen works, Camera works, Lte works......
It is no longer a MOAR Rom its a Note 4 Lollipop port with alot of worknig stuff.
I'm about to do it in reverse and see what happens.. wish me luck.
