so im currently using a samsung i5510m on android 2.2.2. recently i rooted my phone so i could switch my external SD card as internal since the phone only carries around 150mb of data. so, after rooting the device i edited my vold.fstab file the way i saw on one of the posts on xda. all was well until i rebooted my device, after which it refused to recognize SD card. just to be sure that the card didn't get corrupted i used a card reader and plugged it into my PC, it loaded up with the files. i thought it could be fixed if i formatted the card and so i did.however it didn't fix the problem and neither did factory reseting the device. Ive tried adb commands but its all been useless since the it cannot access the card and neither the phone itself. Ive tried using my other SD cards too but the result is the same.
any help guys? how can i restore the vold.fstab to the way it was since i think thats the problem here?
thanks in advance

it says my sd card is blank and it doesnt seem like its mounting.... i took it out and formatted it to fat32 and its still saying blank sd card i did this a bunch of times..
If you formatted it, it is blank. What's the problem?
What does it say in settings/SD & phone storage? Have you tried formatting it there?
tried both put it in comp formatted it put it in phone formatted in there too says mount sd card like its not reading it
and it also said the blank thing when i had stuff on my sd card
so i guess im effed cuase i cant put anything on my sd card phone wont read it so i cant get back to stock...
Try formatting it on your computer or phone, put it back into your comp and put some files on it

i did and i even tried a diff sd card wont read that either
I'm new to this so someone please correct me if I'm wrong but you can download the stock Rom from your phone and use Rom manager to go to stock, there is 2.5g of space on phone
my problem and worry is i wanna get unrooted so i can call and this will prob be covered under warranty and i wont have to pay the rediculous deductable on insurance if i have to go another root...
and also you cant use rom manager unless sd card is mounted i tried and mine doesnt mount
So you have tried multiple SD cards in your phone and none of them work?
yes i have tried a couple and the thing pops up in notification bar blank sd card and in sd and phone storage it says mount it but doesnt work
Well if you have tried more than one, formatted and all, and it still doesn't work I would say that your card slot has obviously stopped working. There is no way to unroot without access to the SD card AFAIK.
well that just sucks guess im gonna have to break this thing to make an insurance claim there goes 90 bucks downt he effn drain
Before you take your phone back to Verizon, try connecting to the phone with adb. If you can cd to the sd card and ls the contents, you can push the RUU to the card and return to stock. I am currently trying to resolve the same problem where the SD card fails to mount on PC and suspect it might be related to root. I might end up returning it to stock to test my hypothesis if I can't find a solution in a few minutes; I'll post back with my results.
Okay, this may or may not be relevant to the original poster, but after more investigation, it appears that this issue might be related to some corruption of system files related to handshaking with Windows in Drive mode that occurred since rooting the device. Restoring the rooted system image resolved the problem. The issue was unrelated to kernels, though, since flashing the default kernel did not improve anything.
If you can access the SD card with ADB, your best bet is to restore your rooted stock backup or re-flash the stock image to see if that corrects your issues prior to returning your phone.

If the phone can't read the SD card it doesn't matter what he can get on it, the phone has to be able to read the sd card to flash anything.
If you have the proper images, they can be flashed using fastboot, which doesn't require an SD card.

Today I decided to flash CM7 onto my SGS2. I had the Stock Samsung 2.3.4 Rom with CF-Root Kernel on it. After flashing through CWM I got stuck at the boot logo, but I was able to re-flash it properly through CWM. But now, I can't access the inserted 8GB SD Card (except for Root explorer). So I reflashed CM7, but that didn't solve the SD Card problem. I asked Google what to do, but most of the solutions posted in forums etc. are for other devices (e.g. HTC Devices). I already picked up some key words like "emmc" or something like that, but I don't know if this has something to do with this problem. I am experienced with flashing (Galaxy 3 i5800, Galaxy S i9000) and it's possible dangers, but I've never encountered something similiar to this problem.
So, is there a possibility to fix things back to normal? I can access the internal and external SD card with my PC/Laptop and Root Explorer, and all the Files are still there and neither seem to be damaged nor corrupted.
Yours, BlackWire
Edit: I tried the following Cyanogenmod 7 External Sd Card problem, but still I can't access the SD Card with the OI File Manager (i don't know what it's called in english) or other apps.
Edit2: I can't even flash another ROM through CWM, as I can't access the external SD Card!
So basically what happened is I rebooted my phone, and then opened up my music app, and it said that my external SD card folder (where I keep all my music) was missing or unreadable. I checked my file explorer to see what was going on, and I opened up the external SD folder to find that it was empty. I know for a fact that all my files are there, since everything was working fine until I rebooted my phone. This happened once before, and I solved it by plugging the card into my computer and formatting it from there. I could do that again but is there a way to fix the problem altogether? It's annoying to have to format the card every time I reboot my phone.
My phone's not rooted or anything. 100% stock.
Thanks
Use RECUVA to recover any files back up data and factory reset format phone FAT 32 in Windows .

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks
I factory reset my phone this afternoon and for some reason it's still not detecting my card. I tried the card with my brother's S3 and it worked perfectly fine. Is there anyway else that I might be able to fix it??
EDIT: Never mind, I somehow managed to fix it
Help!
I do not know what happened, all of a sudden one morning I woke up and found my SD card has all their files erased! I did not touch the phone nor did the phone hang, what could have caused this?? Will I be able to recover any of the data on it?? The SD card was not corrupted or anything like that, my laptop can read it just fine, my phone can read it just fine, but all my files went missing! I had my Titanium Backup file on the SD card. I was told to get an SD card and backup my files on to it cause android sometimes may have problems, I never would of thought android would erased my SD card by itself. :crying:
I have read related threads about this, but none seem to have an answer or solution.
If anyone has any information or insight on this topic, please let me know.

I don't know whether that is possible but maybe some kind of weird error can do it., also is there any app set as administrator? Also formatting is easy to do if a kid took it and went to storage settings, and recovery of data is possible to a certain extent if you connect your device or card as a usb device in a computer and by running a data recovery software like TuneUp Undelete or something else.

I'll give those software a shot, thanks.
If anyone else have any suggestions, please post.
Recuva.
I'm currently using an LG P970 phone with an android ver 4.0.4.
The issue is that out of nowhere, my SD card (SanDisk 8GB) just went into a read-only format. I can't use my camera, apps stored on my SD are now pretty useless, and I can't edit/store/delete files from the SD (via phone or PC).
I think this isn't an isolated case and some people have experienced this with their devices but have found solutions. The problem is I have tried unmounting/mounting the card, error-checking on PC, and even resetting the phone back to factory settings, but nothing seems to work in my case(even the files are still intact, as if they're immortal:saint.
I'm not a "techie" person so hopefully there's a simple solution to this.
