[Q] e970 4.3/4.4 rom problems - AT&T LG Optimus G

i have a problem and i seem to be the only one with this problems its so strange. no matter what rom i flash or who its made by if its 4.3 or 4.4 i get the same problems. when i try to make a phone call i cant hear a thing no dial tone nothing UNLESS the phone is on speaker phone then i hear normal but if i switch back to normal phone its silent again. the second problem is when i use speech to text in a text, when i hit the mic symbol the phone reboots itself, sometimes i have to hit the mic then keyboard then mic but eventually it will always reboot its self. any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have done a full wipe, correct?
What radio are you using?
Have you had this problem ever since you first rooted our did this issue develop later?

What Radio are you using? What Carrier?
I've used the ATT Hybrid radio on ATT for the longest time, and I haven't had any of the issues you describe.

You'll want the third one from this link.
If that doesn't work, try the other one labeled "Hybrid" in that folder.

reply
Not yet but I don't think the radio is the problem cause when I install cyanogenmod it works perfectly fine with the hybrid modem where pcexpresses 4.4 the calling issue is fixed but not the reboot issue also I didn't notice this till yesterday but I lost root as well only with pcexpresses.

If you read the thread, you would have known that root is disabled by default in SlimKat.
You have to go in Developer Settings and allow root.
However, Slim's root implementation is kind of ****ty, so I always end up having to flash supersu when using that rom.

yeah i noticed it says that at the begining i dont know how i missed that but its good to know how to fix that but that doesnt fix my rebooting problem. any ideas on that?

Help after flah back from ROM

I flashed a custom rom to an HTC ARIA. After working w/ it for a short period I realized it would work for the users needs. I odined back to stock then flashed Froyo 2.2. It works well except for one major issue. At the end of a phone call, the screen/phone seems to freeze. When the phone switches to "black screen mode" (during conversation) it doesn't switch back to screen on and the power button doesn't wake it up. The only way to wake the phone up is by removing the battery.
I've searched the web and XDA but I don't even know how to phrase this as a question!

So just to be clear, you now have a Aria that has the official HTC Froyo 2.2 ROM installed, correct? The symptom would point to faulty proximity sensor.
First thing I would try would be a hard reset. Here is a reference:
http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/96/t/3451.aspx
If the problem still exists, you may want to consider it a hardware problem and take it back to AT&T.

So have you tried a hard reset as suggested? If that didn't work, you might want to run the Froyo 2.2 RUU again and reflash the image.
Since it is an official AT&T update, you should be able to call AT&T and report the issue.

OK, hard reset didn't work and since you are on the official AT&T Froyo update, you don't have a lot of options to try, since that version is unrootable at this time.
Option 1 is to re-run the Froyo 2.2 RUU update just to make sure you have a good flash.
Option 2 is to call AT&T and report the issue. Although the proximity sensor is hardware and it is acting like a hardware issue, it could well be a software issue with the new ROM.

OK before I go to AT&T w/ the problem, would I just run the HTC sync to upgrade to 2.2 again? Basically flashing 2.2 over itself?

[Q] Cyanogenmod Muted Calls

I see other are having this problem but can't find the solution. I've got the latest Cyanogenmod RC flashed on my VZW Galaxy S4. I've flashed about 10 ROMs and love CM the best. Problem is that sometimes when I receive a call I can hear the other person but they can't hear me. I need to reboot to fix the problem. This is ONLY on CM. Like I said, I've flashed many roms and haven't had the problem. Has anyone seen a solution out there?

It's definitely not the mute button. It's so strange. Only on CM! Nightlies and now with the RC. I was so excited for RC, cause I figured this wouldn't happen but it still is. Had to reboot twice today.
Frustrated
I have the same problem. I am on ME7, rooted only. Working with vzw to diagnose it. I think its going to become more common and will need a replacement.

Microphone work only with loud speaker

I have a LG Optimus G e970 AT&T phone.
I have a little and maybe rare problem.
When I have a call phone, people dont hear me, only with loud speaker, in normal mode dont.
I think is the same microphone to normal and loud speaker, the phone I was flashed with a couple rom, stock rom, Cyanogen ROM (last rom), I was format and reinstall rom and now I have SnowJB rom and always I have the same problem.
Anyone have any idea or know somethig about it? I will appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Im sorry, I was seek, and about the question, I charge my phone with the original Batery charger and the correct volt I Think.
I'm having a similar problem with my AT&T LG Optimus G. I had been running the phone on houstonn's RootBox 7-20-2013 (4.2.2) build and most things worked alright (problems like NFC not working, randomizing Wifi MAC address on each boot, and poor battery life). Last night I tried flashing the latest Paranoid Android ROM 4.3.1 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228880 ) and everything seemed to work much better. NFC worked, Wifi MAC address would stay constant on reboots, and "Android OS" didn't use more power than the display. I just found out, though, that the mic and earpiece don't work during calls (though you can hear keytones when you dial a number during a call). When you put it on speaker or plug in a headset, then the mic works. I've tried wiping, reflashing, and updating the modem to 20j. Any idea how to fix this problem for 4.3.1?
A note: the phone had had the Nexus 4 conversion done to it previously and I returned it to stock before rerooting and flashing these roms. I think the Nexus 4 conversion messed with some of the advanced settings and they haven't been restored properly (hence the random Wifi MAC).

I have the same issue on my E970 on every single 10.2 based roms i have tried.. only speaker mode works on calls (or else headpones)
the in phone ear piece doesnt work at all..
anyone know of a fix for this.
btw im on T-mobile if thats the reason this is broken
If software mods do not fix the issue, you will need to replace the charge port flex. The microphone for normal calls is at the bottom of the phone right next to the charge port. It is an easy fix once you get it open and taken apart. I have done a few already.
I had some problems after flashing slimkat
I just flashed to the slimkat alpha rom and had some issues with the front faceing speaker. So i woud have to take my calls on loud speaker. I found a hybrid radio trying to get LTE working on tmobile and found that my issue was fixed after i flashed that hybrid radio. It may help.

It is a hardware failure. The same thing happened to my girlfriend's LG G2 after a couple weeks and we had to return it. The second G2 she got has worked fine ever since.
But hey, that's the G2, not the Optimus G, so it maybe different. I've just noticed more than the normal amount of hardware failures on some LG models. My first LG Optimus G didn't get LTE, and (long story) after accidentally having the phone fall off the top of my car and shattering the back gorilla glass into a million pieces, I bought another LG Optimus G. The _second_ LGOG did get LTE right out of the box! Go figure! Same exact model, same carrier, even the same SIM. So there was obviously something wrong with the LTE radio of the first one right when I got it (I never returned it because I never actually read the specs to find I was supposed to be getting LTE all along, lol).
Fixed

LTEHybrid33-54.zip solved this for me. Sorry, no link, but I found it here somewhere. I suspect the 33-84 one would work as well. It was like magic, after I was thinking I got screwed by LG again (don't ask about the G2x/P999).

[Q] Must cycle Airplane mode between texts

I had CodeFire on my DNA for about a month. All was running well. I just installed whatever was current around 2/23 and never installed a nightly update. Last week, I started having problems texting. I thought the ROM was going belly up on me. So I flashed SlimKat. I still cannot text without cycling Airplane Mode in between each. Alternatively, I can wait about an hour to sent a subsequent test message after a successful one.
I just re-flashed the latest radio hoping that would fix it. I'm at a loss. Do I need to call VZW and have them do something on their end?

Nothing? Just flashed another ROM. Phone is dead. Am I beating a dead horse with this question? Someone point me in the right direction then, please. Everything I've read states that the SMS issues are related to showing double texts. I can't find this exact problem.

The kit kat roms are ported. There are several issues with them that cannot be "fixed" until the source code is released. If the phone does not respond to any commands including trying to boot.... leave it on a factory charger for 24 hours. Then try to work with it

What do you mean by "phone is dead"? Completely non responsive or no signal. I've been on cfx since I ported it over with no issues besides the random signal drop here and there. But that's maybe a few times per week and happens to me on all ROMs. What do you wipe when flashing a new ROM? Have you tried a RUU?

Dead as in Roaming again. My apologies for the exaggeration. I'm a bit frustrated here. I cannot seem to win with this thing. I hated my Thunderbolt at the end, but at least it worked. RUU brings back mobile data and texting. I've tried CM 10.2 several times. Each time, it gets stuck in roaming. I cannot change the NV setting. Changing it, then checking it again and it's right back. I've tried flashing with the SIM in. With it out. I've cycled Airplane mode a few times. Rebooted. Installed GApps. Rebooted. Cycled Airplane mode. I'm missing something. Apparently.
I just want a phone without Sense or the Verizon crap. CFX was awesome until this texting issue.

Have you considered hardware issues? If it was a ROM issue it wouldn't be a one person issue. Or provide a log of what's happening when you send SMS. You're just not giving us much to go by, except what's not working. Are you doing full wipes between flashing roms, or just cache or factory resets?

Full Wipes between flashes.
I've had this phone for about two months. I initially had issues flashing CM and being stuck in roaming. No CM ROM I attempt to flash will work. They always end up stuck in roaming. I think the problem is that I can't switch from NV. When I change it, it always goes right back. Not sure what's up there.
I just flashed ★ ☆ [ROM/RADIO][4.2.2] Stock 3.06.605.4 | Rooted | Odex-Deodex | Sense5 And now SMS works, but I'm stuck in 3G.
I hadn't considered hardware only because with each ROM, the previously broken feature works, but then something new pops up.
With one, I can text, but am in 3G. With another, I've got 4G but can't text without cycling Airplane mode.
I sincerely apologies for coming off as a d!ck. I've nothing to contribute to the community but my bug reports and money. It's frustrating to see how quickly some phones are abandoned, though.
I've always been thankful for everyone's help and tried to offer bug reports and donations where applicable.
I just want my phone to work, with a plain vanilla OS and tethering. I don't need Sense. I don't need fancy mods. Just a phone that works.
Please accept my apology, and thanks again for the help.

Have you considered the fact that the recovery itself is causing your issues? I would give TWRP a try to see if there are differences. TWRP is a must to flash KitKat roms and the version used is critical.

Nope. I didn't consider that. Because most of my problems were with CM 10.2.1. Which is JB, correct?
That being said, I've tried both CW and TWRP to no avail. After being stuck in 3G for two days across multiple ROMs, I'm convinced the hardware went belly-up.

This is bizarre. Either I'm doing something wrong, or... I don't know. SMS works on a stock ROM but not on a custom ROM, with a new phone, with a new SIM.
I think you are doing something wrong.
RUU the latest firmware, factory reset, wipe data, cache, and system, install a ROM and DO NOT restore anything.
I think youre not completely wiping and/or are restoring things.

Seems to only affect people who are using the Verizon LG G3 on a GSM network.
Any idea which app is causing the popup?
This is on every 5.0 rom I have used
i have this problem toם ....????
I got this problem too, as long as I turned on data it pops up and never stop popping. I've tried to adjust the call forwarding option on the phone app, but it doesn't work. It happens only on one specific sim card which is without call forwarding service itself. It happens on all 5.0 roms that's a pain!
hope this helps
only work around i have found is to change to 2G and the popup will only show up once and after you dismiss it all is well. downside is that 2G is quite slow to browse and download but is works well for messaging like whatapps etc. i hope they can find a fix for this soon its the only reason why i changed back to stock..
same problem here. subscribed, hopefully someone finds a fix!
Apparently connect 2G this problem is significantly reduced.
It worked rom illusion.
Sent from my LG-VS985 using XDA Free mobile app
Connect to WiFi it should help out as well
help!

Same issue for me. Really sucks. Ive been using a latest version of pac roms untill a fix is found. If anyone knows of a way to read what causes the pop up i will work on that. Something like notification tracker but for popups. Also using this phone on straight talk.
Subscribing.
tengo el mismo problema?
solution 100% working
I got extremely tired of these pop ups as I'm sure many of you are tired as well so i took a chance all or nothing with a theory @daniel4653 came up with.
NOTE: Its not a fix for the VS985 ROMs just a bypass until the VS985 ROMs are fix.

With that said.
Download AT&T version of Illusion ROM.

Download Optimized SM-4.9.3 Kernel V2.2 for VS985
here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/development/kernel-optimized-sm-4-9-3-kernel-t2997489
Put both on your sdcard or internal memory
Boot into recovery
DO A FULL WIPE
Install illusion ROM
DO NOT REBOOT AFTER FLASHING THE ROM!
Install Optimized SM-4.9.3 Kernel V2.2 for VS985
Reboot and enjoy a pop up free lollipop ROM
I installed gapps after i saw that the ROM booted.
I have been using it for about 2hours and no pop ups in sight and all seems to be working. I've tested camera/video recording, calls in/out going, mic and speakers work and all sensors seems to be functional also. Not sure if I will experience any battery issues I will have to test it out and see.
I'm guessing this should work with other lollipop AOSP ROMs as long as they support other kernels.
I'm going to compare the ROMs and see if i can figure out a fix for the VS985 ROM until then this should work for all GSM users. :highfive:

Hey man you stole my theory and wrote up a guide. That is not cool.
I'm JP lol. That's exactly what i did. I figured it out on the 15th when I flashed the ATT ROM and it wouldn't boot up, so I went ahead and flashed the Verizon 5.0 kernel after and sure enough it booted.
