Hello. i know that my problem has been alredy posted multiple times but i think i've already read them all and nothing helped me so far.
So i was trying to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=226533
After all of instructions (last step "Flash the extracted boot.img ") i've tried to boot my phone...and it stands still on black screen. Nothing has changed for about 30 minutes, so i rebooted once again and tried it one more time with same result.
So i found some others AOSP ROM's and tried them... every single time doing everything exactly like in description. i'm not dev, but i've rooted some phones so far( this one was rooted like 4 months ago) and never had such situation....
I was on TWRP recovery and now i flashed it to classic non touch CWM... but it didnt help.
I have a backup of my last working system done by TWRP recovery, but it didnt help me too. After restoring my screen is continously black.
Unlocked S-ON
hboot 1.25.0002
radio 1.15.40.04
Please help me asap... i'm running out of time since i've got no other phone right now and i've got to have my phone running tilll morning :/
Thanks for your time!

After restoring your back up (assuming your back up is stock JB), boot to bootloader and install any JB boot.img.
Maybe try the one from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239511
i'm sorry i didnt reply to you! i dont know why, but nothing have helped. when i've tried another day everythign went ok. thanks for help!

Well, please dont laugh...
As the title says I think I killed my GSM hero.... I need your help!
here is what happened
I'm new at this and I got a Hero with android 1.5 so I wanted to upgrade to a newer version
I followed instructions on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
I successfully rooted the phone then I tried to flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932377
After reboot the old rom was still there but wiped so I did everything from scratch a couple of times and didn't work.
I did notice the last time that there was an error that I'm sure I didn't see the first few times while wiping SD:ext so I looked for that on the forum and fund the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679991
I followed pseudoremora's instruccions and then tried to flash again, but got stuck on the boot screen...
Now somehow I lost my nandroid backup... I'm not sure what happened but is not with the rest of the things I backed up...
so here is the current status:
Can't boot
Can't flash the ROM
Can't restore the backup.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this? I found another thread that talks about using someone else's nandroid backup (but removing the pieces that contain personal data such as usernames and passwords) if that is possible, would anyone be willing to help?
Thanks!
Here is the last thread I mention
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545435
Can you boot into the recovery console by pressing power+home?
if recovery is not working for you , try going into fastboot i hope you knows how to use ADB over fastboot . Goood Luck
It's fixed!
Hi Guys,
IT's fixed!! I'm not exactly sure how I did it... I flashed the ROM several times until it worked...
Do you think it's a problem with the hardware itself? maybe the SDcard?
Anyway I'm reliefed! not i's working!
Cheers!
Excuse me if I missed an existing thread with this issue, I have looked and didn't find one with exact problem.
It seems everyone else has one of the two problems, not both.
As the title claims, when I turn on my phone it freezes on the white background-green htc screen and won't load the OS.
I tried removing the batter then turning back on with power-volume down but nothing happens. That hboot menu doesn't show up.
As soon as I let go of the buttons, it attempts to start up normally then freezes again at the same screen.
Last night I rooted my phone (first time I've ever rooted) and installed SolidRom Suite ICS Sense 3.6 and it worked perfectly.
I then removed battery, went into hboot menu, cleared the catches and did a factory reset. I then attempted to install the SolidRom Suite JB 4.1.1
This is when it loaded the white screen-green htc and froze. I thought it was loading the rom slowly (First time like I said, I didn't know what to expect)
It was 2am so I just fell asleep. I woke up to a dead phone. I plugged it in to a charger and have been attempting to get access to the phone all morning with no luck.

I just hope I didn't kill my phone
While rooting last night, I was using a youtube video as a cross reference to the directions I was using from AFs.
I asked the creator of the video the same thing and this is what he replied with
DON ,T BE SCARED (are u?)
this thing is called BOOTLOOP
the rom has problems OR U DID NOT FLASH THE KERNAL!!!!
to flash the kernal u need a working software and install an program called flash image gui
restore your nandroid back u created before flashing
DID U MADE A NANDROID BACK UP
If no
then u need to download the ruu image of your phone GOOGLE TIME keep searching until u got one

1-I didn't know I needed to flash the kernel if I was going to stick with the one provided with the custom ROM (is that a gross conceptual error?)
2-If I do need to flash the kernel first... I have no idea how.
3-I looked up flash image gui and all the instructions assume your phone is working fine so I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do with that.
I was so excited when the first rom (ICS) worked... guess that's what I get for then trying to upgrade to JB.
Thanks a lot guys. That noob video I watched to register on this site is so spot on.
update: I finally figured out how to fastboot. I keep trying clear caches then factory reset. I install new rom and then it bootloops again. What am I doing wrong?
I recommend you follow ramjet's guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
It will reset your phone back to stock (hopefully stopping the bootloops) and then get you s-off using the wire trick. This will allow you to flash ROMs without worrying about flashing kernels. It will also allow you to change hboots, which I think was what caused the issue in the first place. I think all the jb ROMs don't boot on hboot 1.58.
I was able to return the phone to factory settings. I then retried and now I get past the splash screen and am frozen at the next Sprint screen.
I'm still at it. I'll get it eventually.

You can't run JB on 1.58
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808332
You need to flash 1.58, the new firmware to flash my Rom.

I'm amusing he's talking about hboot there. Am I wrong?
I'm about to try that wire trick. Regardless of everything else, it seems to make life easier down the road.

I've been searching all morning to find another thread to see if this has been answered before. I was trying to install a GSM Rom onto my Rezound. The install failed at around 2 %. I'm almost positive I thought I was on the correct ICS firmware, when apparently I wasn't. So instead of trying to fight installing the rom over and over again. I had a back up rom that I installed instead. My problem I think is that I didn't go back and re wipe everything after the failed install.
Which I could slap myself for, but my problem is this. The phone can go into Hboot, which gives me hope not all is lost. But I can't go into recovery or boot up. The phone will only load the white HTC screen then just reboots over and over again. I've seen where it tries to load recovery but then just reboots. I'm not sure if I have to reload the RUU or what I have to do. If anyone has had this problem or knows of a thread on how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit: Just a little about my phone if it helps.

Since you can't get to recovery it might be time to just put an RUU on you card and let hboot install it. Then you can install a recovery and then one of your backups.
Or just reinstall recovery

Ok, unfortunately I'm stuck at work and can't fix it right away. But I do thank you both for your help. I'll try the RUU first, since it needs to be done anyways. I was using Clockwork Mod Touch for my recovery before, is Amon Ra that much better ? I'll let you guys know the results soon as I can get it done.

If you plan to do a restore, stick to the same recovery.
Not sure how restoring over a previous rom borked your recovery though, that is weird.

Well I started off as I normally would, wiping data, wiping cache, wiping davlik, then installing. I tried one of the new JB roms Tron. But I couldn't get the GPS to work at all. So I stumbled across a GSM rom and went to install, it booted into it's own installation touch screen. I kept it simple not choosing many extras, then the last option was. Are you on ICS firmware? Which to my noobness, I've been running ICS roms since I acheived S-OFF. So I was pretty positive that I upgraded my firmware whenever I did that. So I chose Yes and it started to install, got to 2% and said it was done. Again I assumed the install had just failed and after having tried installing a GSM rom once before I had to go through and do it multiple times. I was tired and didn't feel like messing with it. So instead of rebooting, I went back into recovery and flashed another rom I had set on my SD card in case I didn't like the GSM. To which I think that my mistake came when I didn't either
A) Re-wipe my data, cache, davlik.
or
B) Restore my previous Rom from before.
So after the new rom installed and looked as everything went smooth. I selected reboot, the HTC white screen came up and the phone shut off. Then would power back up and display the HTC white screen and shut off again. So far the only thing I've been able to get it to do is the power cycle with the white screen and boot up in Hboot. But none of the options will work as the only thing it will do is power cycle. That's pretty much where I'm at until I can try reinstalling the RUU and flash the new(same) recovery.
The problem is nothing you've done there should have touched the recovery, that's why I find it weird.
I'd assume the rom asked which firmware you were on so it could installed the old firmware patch if needed.
Anyway, hopefully the RUU should straighten it out.
Well good news, re-installing the RUU fixed the phone. It re-locked my hboot, so I just finished unlocking that and re-flashing recovery. Thanks a bunch for all of your help. I greatly appreciate it !
Hello people!
First of all - Happy New Year!
Okay, my problem is this:
I gave my phone to a person who knows what he's doing, to change my ROM (switched from stock ROM to CM10).I wasn't there and didn't know what he did but I was glad that he did it. The ROM was still a beta (not sure how is it called for the ROMs) version and I had some problems with the camera, chrome and messanger were closing even if I didn't want them and many other problems which i dont remember now. This was the reason I wanted to change this CM10 to another ROM , but I had some problems with changing it. Took me like 4 hours (eventho my phone was unlocked) and i almost gave up when I tried for last time to install CM again and it worked! I don't know what I did because It was long ago. Anyways to my main problem:
Before 2 days I told myself ok now is the time to change the ROM (New Year - new ROM ). I started doing everything that the post I found says ( I can't give you link, but it's for dummies). All I did wrong was not downloading the whole folder with the boot.img (which I still don't have) ,but only the file boot.img from 2shared. I had to do the last step, because the device entered a Bootloop. Since then I Power ON my phone ,but all it does is to show the "HTC quitely brilliant logo. I tried to reinstall the Viper ROM , but nothing changed. I panicked. I had Trickdroid 6.0 on my device so I tried to install it too, but still the ending result was the same... The last choice I had was to install the CM ROM again, so I did it. Still nothing. I think it all came from the boot.img file i downloaded , but I'm not sure. I started to search forums for this kind of issue but I didn't find anything similar to this, or atleast I didn't search for the right thing. Anyways, I thought of doing a factory reset from the Fastboot mode, and after 2 hours of searching the forums I did a factory reset. The phone restarted and entered in the Recovery menu again. I didn't know what was I supposed to do there + I had NOTHING in the phone (which I knew it was going to happened) but I didnt think that the ROMs will be deleted too. So I tried to connect my phone with the USB ,but as usual it needs a full boot up to connect with the USB, so I can upload some files to it. Now all I can do is enter in the Recovery/Fastboot menu. Can anyone help me or does anyone have an idea what should I do?
P.S. Sorry for the long post. I'm desperate.
Can you sideload a zip through recovery? Because boot.img files are only a kernel, so you're going to need a complete kernel.

I cannot connect to the computer. I don't have anything on my phone and I can't upload anything to the device. Except if there is a option to 'allow" something via fastboot from the computer. Since that is the only connection I have with the phone.

A quick look in the dx general sub-forum showed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076675 (see post 2)
Thanks for reply i already read it The issue is i cant find RUU for the above Hboot and radio So wont it damage my phone if i do with ruu_proto_u_ics_40a_htc_asia_wwe_1.14.707.1_radio_10.18.40.05u_1.09.45.201_release_284720_signed.exe
Why don't you try to flash the ROM (not the RUU) again? It used to work.
Backup your ROM before trying so you can restore it.
You mean i should flash with CFW again or stock rom? If so please provide me the link for both download ....and steps to be taken
Maybe somebody else can give the answer: is a new ROM able to fix the button problem? Because I am not sure.
If you are willing to give it a try and a fresh start... lots of info is on this forum.
I am not sure if your phone (bootloader screen) is S-ON or S-OFF. Probably S-ON, you can check that from your bootloader screen. I assume your phone is 'unlocked'. Difficulty for me is that I don't know what kernel is on your phone right now. With S-ON, don't know if you are able to flash a kernel manually (fastboot)?
Start with installing an ICS ROM (i.e. Vimiro simple). Download it, flash with TWRP. If it crashes or bootloops occur, try another ROM, i.e. a JB ROM instead of ICS.
