Buying DNA Unlock Bootloader - HTC Droid DNA

I am considering buying a HTC droid DNA but I would first like to know if it is still possible to unlock the bootloader without S-offing the phone or is this phone a lost cause at this point and should I just wait for the HTC one

It is as simple as running a program

Awesome and thank you. Could you link me to it? I have searched and have no clue where to start

In DNA original development. There is rumrunner. Also it will link you to the official rumunner site: rumrunner.us find device, follow instructions, and enjoy s-off unlocked.

Yep what he said works just fine

After the setup steps it's pretty much one click . Easy and painless.

Downsides to leaving boot loader unlocked?

Are there any downsides to leaving the boot loader unlocked? It's not much of a hassle to lock it back, I just wasn't sure why it would matter if it was unlocked or locked.
Why would you want to lock it?

Just lock the bootloader only if you're sending the phone back to Verizon.

Thanks, I have been messing with Samsung phones and it's not something I've messed with before so I wasn't sure if there was an actual reason to do it.
You can lock it back easily through fastboot..

A couple of questions about s-off

So i havent rooted my phone yet and i updated the phone with the recent OTA update. Does this mean that I cannot currently get s-off. If so, are there anyways to remove the update? Also, if i had s-off but I had to return the device to verizon for a replacement, would I be able to completely bring the phone back to stock (stock rom and have it say "locked" as opposed to "re-locked"). Does verizon even care if you send back a device that says "re-locked"?

As far as I know, after the update, you can't get s-off. I'm not even sure you can unlock. I'm looking into this now for my own reasons.

If you've taken the ota you can not get supercid which prevents you from unlocking which prevents you from getting s off.

Devs are working on a root for the people who updated, and you can change your device to say locked after you s-off i think...
You can change it back to LOCKED(not RELOCKED). The bootloader still says s-off though.

[Q] DNA 2.04.605.2 question

I'm not an Android expert by an means. Can someone please tell me if the pop-up I'm getting on my HTC Droid DNA telling me to update to: HTC6435LVW_2.06.605.1-2.04.605.2
Is Not something there is a fix for...or it IS something there is a fix for?
My phone is rooted, S-OFF, and running teamwin recovery.
So do I need to watch this stupid Verizon pop-up or can I upgrade somehow? I see threads talking about a bounty for a crack but I'm not sure if that means there is a fix for just upgrading or not?
Thanks.
Do not upgrade. You'll lose root and soff...

If you're rooted and S-OFF then why don't you just flash a new rom with the updated base? I know there's a couple of stock rooted 2.06 roms in the Android Dev section.

The OTA will not make you lose s off. The only thing it will do is make you lose root.

Lol, no you won't. You'll still be unlocked and s off, and that's even if you could update with a custom recovery, which you can't.
But @op, just freeze htcdm,

They didnt and if they did they probably relocked like a stupid. Once you have s-off you have no restrictions.
Most of them relocated thinking that they could just unlock again and that the exploit wasn't patched.

Even then, if they are s off it really doesn't matter and if they were s on then they could use their old unlock code.bin to re unlock their device.

How to root 1.15?

Finally decided to root, iam still on original 1.15 software I've been searching but everything is for updated phones what's the simplest method link for 1.15 plz
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Update Ur phone then do the moonshine
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app
Look for facepalm
You could use Facepalm S-off, but what I would do in that situation is accept the OTA to Build # 2.06 and use Moonshine S-off. I don't know about Facepalm, but with Moonshine, it S-offs, unlocks bootloader, and roots so that all you have to do is install a custom recovery.
In shorter words, Update your phone and use Moonshine.
And P.S. This belongs in Q&A, not Development. You will most likely get more help there.

I used face palm myself but from what it looks like moonshine is easier, so if your new then maybe think about it that way. But if you know your way around ADB, and whatnot then I recommend face palm like everyone above.

[Q] New To Unlocking Android and i need help.

So as the title states, im new to Unlocking/Rooting an Android Device, I've read all the Guides posted and found that either they had broken links or were just plain useless. I've managed to use Moonshine to S-Off my device, not really sure what that did, its to my understanding that I still need to Unlock my DNA, can't figure out how to do that.
If you used moonshine then you don't need to it unlocks your bootloader, give you root and s-off just need to flash a custom recovery
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Ohh so, it doesn't need to say unlocked, tampered in my fastboot screen?

Then moonshine didn't work, go to settings software information and look at software number and tell me what it is

Moonshine removes the lock/unlock display.... only display S-OFF.
