Corrupted Bootloader? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I've been having issues with my phone stopping at the Samsung screen when I do a gattery pull. It has gotten to be more and more often. I've wiped and formatted everything but the story is the same: when I install a ROM it works the first boot. After that it gets hung on the Samsung Screen.
What can I do?

Need more info. What base are you on for starters.

MDK I think. Whatever doesn't need safe strap.

mdk is the only other base you can run a custom recovery. So you must be loki'd on it. Have you tried reinstalling a clean mdk image thru odin and resetting up from scratch??

No. Do have a link for steps to do that? Once I am done, reroot?

Can I download the MDK .tar and put it in ODIN? I cannot find any information on doing this and don't want to make anything worse (if that's possible).

I would think so if that is the base of the phone and I'm sure a mdk tar is somewhere in this forum to be DL

Provided your bootloader is MDK, I would attempt to find a no-wipe MDK odin tar and flash that. That way you won't lose data. If that works you are in the clear. Search around the forums and you should find a no-wipe here.

Galaxy S4-Wont install update after un-root.

I un-rooted my phone because I felt like I needed to start from scratch. So un-rooted back to stock with what seemed like no issues. I first made sure that I used the triangle away app that resets the count to 0. It was at 0 when I ran the app anyway. So after I was back to un-rooted stock I downloaded the available update but when I try to install I get an error message "Sorry, there was a problem updating your samsung sch-i545. no changes were made" Does anyone know what I did wrong or what the fix is?
Please help and thank you!

Having this same issue..did anyone ever figure this out?

You can't Odin mdk if you have me7. It won't work. A q-fuse is blown which won't let you down grade.

I wasn't on official ME7 software. I was rooted on MDK, and installed an ME7 based ROM. I didn't take a stock ME7 phone and root it, then try and go back to MDK.
I went back to MDK just fine with Odin. My phone works. However, when I try and install the official software update through the phone, it downloads and then gets an error when I eventually hit install.

Ok, you were on a me7 rom, that's different. To unroot did you flash mkd with odin?

Yes. I flashed the MDK tar with Odin.
That's because you rooted to begin with. You need to use Odin to update to ME7. But I would suggest not doing that if you want to run full stock then just use the darkslide rom is me7 but with the loki bootloader. If you do a full update you won't ever be able to flash roms unless someone unlocks the bootloader or safe strap Working. Safe strap maybe will work. But the bootloader I don't think will happen.

It's fine - I can't be rooted for the first time in my life (had the original D1 on Verizon) due to the fact that I just started working. We can only use Good For Enterprise (an app) to get our work email on our phones. There's a workaround to get the app working with root, but it's just not worth it. Hence why I unrooted.
Work pays for a phone, but I don't feel like carrying around two. I can deal with an unrooted phone, I suppose.
Do you possibly have a link to the ME7 Odin file?

Also, once I update to ME7, will I be able to normally update my phone afterwards?
Thanks !

I flashed a rom that didn't take so I used twrp to factory reset witch I think wiped ss. I then rebooted my phone but ss never loads and neither does the rom. I had a feeling I was going to have to use odin, doing some reserch now, never had to use it before. can I just flash a custom rom using odin then reinstall ss? Thank you for your help.

[Q] Question about MDK (MJ7) and safestrap

I have a MJ7 based phone and it's already rooted and has a custom recovery. I recently installed Hyperdrive Release 12, but i'm having some instabality issues with bluetooth. I installed the MDK base version (stupid me for not reading entirely). Since I have a MJ7 phone I'm assuming I need to install the MJ7 version (2nd one in the list). I'm not sure what they mean about Safestrap Installation... I normally just copy the zip to my sd card, boot into recover, and install... Have I been doing it wrong?

I'm confused. Do you have a mdk base phone with a custom rom and root thru the loki exploit? If you do.. Why are talking about safestrap?

honestly, I'm I can't remember what root method I used. I got this phone a couple of months ago around the time it barely came out.. How could I tell what root method I used? Does that even matter?
All I know is that when I boot up my phone I see a Samsung logo with an unlocked symbol below and the custom recover that I have is CWM Touch Req0very v1.0.3.5
Should I just forget about this safestrap business and just download that MJ7 rom and apply like I normally would?

If you're using CWM then you have an MDK based phone.(Very lucky) You definitely don't need to worry about Safestrap.

you're right. I do need to understand what I have... From what I've gathered I have an MDK based phone (mj7) and I'm lucky because I have a custom recovery installed...
so the first download link was correct and I'm just having random issues with the ROM, correct?

Exactly. Sounds rom related since you're MDK with custom recovery you can flash away with pretty much anything you want. You have a lot more options than SS users do.

SS 3.72 is a recovery, but if you're on NC5, NG6 or something you can take a look at this thread and use ODIN to flash the stock image.

[Q] Factory reset on phone with TowelRoot

Flash the full wipe nc5 file in Odin. That will give you a clean start
Hey so I did that but I sitlll have Samsung "Custom" a an unlocked icon showing up when I boot my phone. Is that bad?
It's not bad. But if you used Odin and did the full wipe file, there wouldn't be the custom screen on start up. It would be like getting it from Verizon.

This! I don't know how many times I have flashed via Odin but never, when flashing a stock image, have I had it show the "Custom" logo. Not until I did a few things that is.
So is rooting version s4 similar to that of T-Mobile one where you can just use Odin? I'm on 4.4
