[Q] Reverting back from Dual booting - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't think Dual booting was good enough for me, device lags a lot afterwards.
anyways I've been looking around for ways to revert back to normal booting, this could be achieved ofc by installing another Kernel, but the storage space for the second ROM is unavailable. how can I get that back? thank you.
also, I wanted to extract my nandroid from the device, but I couldn't find it anywhere except in the CWM. any help on this too?
much appreciated.
thank you.

Could be in three places External Sd card folder clockworkmod....Internal folder clockworkmod or if you have a folder "0" on internal sd card look in there for clockworkmod also use a root explorer to find it.

[Q] Is a partitioned SD a giveaway that I've rooted??

Is a partitioned SD a giveaway that I've rooted?? I flashed, what seems to be, stock 2.2.1 Froyo, though my SD is still partitioned and there is some system folder on it I think. Is there another way to detect if my device has been rooted and flashed??
You could have partitioned the card through a card reader using a computer as well, so it doesn't point to being rooted. Although having an sd partition on stock rom when it's of no use is kind of suspicious.
there are many ways to knw that u've rooted beside sd card.. u dnt need to give ur sd card to the service center ppl..

Well, 2.2.1 has been flashed, so it looks the same as it did when I received it, I'm not root anymore so the superuser tab has been removed and I don't have any root apps on. Pretty much stock like day 1 except 2.2.1 instead of 2.2.0. What other means could there be??

Yes, and I partitioned 2gb SD to 1.5GB/500MB. I formatted the SD to ext4.

Then remove the recovery. Go to the flashable recoveries zip files thread in the development section by ciaox. I can't post links right now because I'm on the phone. I think ciaox has the link in his signature. Anyway, go to this thread and download 'original_recovery_thunderg.zip ' ( or something to that effect). Boot into recovery and flash this zip, and your recovery will be removed.

OMG. People, flashing recovery and/or rooting your device will not partition your SD card, at all. So, I really fail to see why he should flash stock recovery or whatever.
Eh! He did partition his sd card via custom recovery... wht part u didnt get?

He apparently does not know what he did at all. Anyway, flashing stock recovery or unrooting will certainly not remove any partitions from SD card by magic so those advices are just completely wrong, plus it is not really what was asked in the first place.

You do not detect a rooted phone by looking whether the SD card is partitioned or not.

Yes, partitions have nothing to do with rooting, but he has also asked:

Does not go anywhere.
@OP: Can you kindly explain what is your problem? Because it is damn hard to understand what are you trying to do.
If you do not want the SD card partitions any more, then simply delete them (in PC or whatever). Frankly, it is not even clear whether you have more than one partition on your card from your fuzzy description.
Let me re-phrase my Q.. I do know what I was doing. I flashed Void, my Nandroid backups didn't work when I wanted to restore cuz I didn't like Void, I lost network cuz my phone was stuck in flight mode, I flashed a 2.2.1 stock .DZ from my PC. Since my phone was stuck in flight mode (useless), I took the phone to myservice provider and they ordered me a new one.
What are the chances of them detecting that I had rooted and flashed Void before??

Hmmm, wondering why did not you ask this normal question in the first place. Chances are none after you flashed a stock ROM via KDZ, wipes everything on the phone.
(Do not understand why did you return the phone without wiping/removing the SD card, honestly... kinda sensitive data there regardless whether it is rooted or not.)
Does flashing a rom vain kdz remove custom recovery also?

external sd card not recognized

Hi guys,
i have flashed a few miui v4 roms and i think they have messed up my external sd card settings or something along the line.
now i'm back on a gb rom, i see the sd card when the phone is up and running but if i try to flash from cwm 4.0.1.5 it doesn't see mmy external card ?
do you guys have any idea how to sort this out ? i want to say that this sd card has always worked fine on this device, it's just now that cwm doesn't see it.
thanks
Format the card & see if the phone recognises it. If not, faulty card given you're running stock & the card should be visible to the phone/working fine if the card is good/not faulty.

Have you tried mounting it in CWM?
yes, but it doesn't even give me the option to choose zip file from eternal sd card only from internal sd card

What version CWM recovery are you on?
I meant, if you go to the Mounts and Storage menu, does it have an option for mounting or unmounting /sdcard? If so, does it say mount, or unmount? If it says mount, then you have to mount it in order to use it.
4.0.1.5 and yes there is mount, i mount it, go back to choose zip from sd card.....and there's no internal card detected....if i boot in the system i can see it with file explorer or the likes...it's just cwm not seeing it

Hmm. I've not used 4.x.x.x in quite some time.
I'm using 5.0.2.7. For me, anything that refers to "sdcard" is the external card. "internal sdcard" is the built in flash memory. And as it turns out, I didn't even have to mount /sdcard to use either.
Sorry man...
How did you get 4.0.1.5 installed? Maybe it's time to upgrade.

cwm fails NAND

Hi
I am rooted and CWM always aborts when doing a NAND backup because it can't find android secure !
I know it should skip it but it does not.
Anyone know what I should do to fix this in cwm ?
Should I flash a different version of CWM ? If so can anyone recommend one that will work ?

Kind of running into a similar issue. When I try to do a back up in CWM, I'm getting that it can't mount backup path (but doesn't say what that path is, and I can't seem to mount sdcard in 'Mounts and Storage'). I'm going to assume this is like the SII where I need an actual ext SD card to run backups to? Can someone confirm? At work with no ext SD card.
Try reflashing ...

The latest version of CWM-Recovery should work well, on both internal and external storage. I've tested it on numerous occasions. I have the Rogers I747M, which is effectively identical to the AT&T unit.
Use this link for the correct/latest version of CWM:

If you don't have an external sdcard, then you need to choose "backup to internal sdcard".

[Q] Android Revolition HD - i ****ed it up

hey guys
the title of the thread sums it pretty much up.
i had cm9 on my i9300. but i was having trouble with it. when i call somebody i could hear them, but they could not hear me.
so i decided to switch to ARHD.
i followed the guide.
accidently i put super wipe and the rom in the internal sd card.
after that i did the super wipe. then, logically there was no rom in the internal section anymore.
now i cant boot. i tried to put the rom into my external sdcard but it says "E: cant mount /sdcard/
do you have any tips what i should to now?
i have no backups

Good for you mate, but next time read carfully what the developer said about installation of his OWN Rom.ok We all learn from mistakes and ur not the first or the last person to do so.
i agree to nhariamine formating the ext. SD card before using it is the first step so your phone will recognize your ext SD card.

Stuck in boot. Touchpanel IMG preventing from getting into rocevery.

I'm stuck in a bootloop. I was flashing a ROM that needed the old TP so I have the image zip on my sd card. When I flashed the ROM it won't work so I had to reboot. Now I can't get back into recovery since booting to bootloader just keeps wanting to reinstall the TP zip then reboot. I can see my sd card on my pc to remove the image zip either. Can anyone please help with this?
