i believe we have to keep an eye out here for when Sony releases the kernel source for .290: http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/opensource/
i've never built a Sony kernel, but a quick search found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285731
(i suspect this thread could get moved to Q & A, or General)

This might help you?
And please, don't post an untested kernel, so test it and see that it works 100% before posting it.

thx. can i repack existing stock kernel to modify file in ramdisk?

I'm not a kernel dev, so i have no idea.

Here is Doomlord kernel source for 4.4gpe, not sure if it helps you https://github.com/DooMLoRD/android_kernel_sony_msm8974/tree/z1_gpe_port

[SOLVED][Q] MyXperia apk on CM10

Hi,
I want to install MyXpera apk on my CM10 Neo V. Initially there is no problem and the application is successfully installed. However I cannot find the "My Xperia" option on settings. Does someone else tried to install it? Is there a way to make it work?
Thanks

Thanks a lot.
This was the reply I was afraid of, but I imagined it was the reason. Hope that in the future it also works with non-stock based Roms.

PM FXP and MUNJENI and NICKHOLTUS and KRAPBELL this please?
so, modifying build.prop and system/etc from xperia p system will be enough for running jb?
zImage for Kumqaut and Pepper in first post. We can start porting JB

Again - if you need help you can just PM munjeni for help, there is nothing bad in cooperating with him, that way you can manage to port JB.
Just PM him cause may be he wont see this thread. Good luck

Its not just modifying build.prop and system/etc.. Build.prop changes are just device name changes.. Other things remain the same if they belong to same line of phones like mdpi,hdpi,etc.. Its about the library files like camera libs, surface flinger, etc.. Which differ from device to device.. You need to look into these things and try making a patch to flash upon the existing Xperia P jb rom.. It should work.. As far as I know..

DevSwift1 any progress with booting JB on XU?
@DevSwift1 from where could we obtain the libs? Can the ics ones work?

I would take rom from GO... 97% compatible.
Watch this pls.

Sorry, forgot first saying thanks for kernel.
NO! Not from go! It is mdpi! Take from p! It might not be the exact resolution but has hdpi resources

For hdpi things this may ok, but for the rest, like ext-sd, cam... GO is most compatible to sola.

only take framework-res and framework.jar and some other framework files from p cause p png’s and other files are on hdpi folder
but other libs and drivers from go so we should take about 94% from xperia go
i also agree with @akkufix
Apps and framework should be from p! The other drivers from go! At least for sola! I will try for u tonight! In 5-6 hours! Just don't know which firmware to use as base!

but we've booted go's jb(which made by munjeni) on u, don't you know that topic?
so we can use that rom with new libs. it will boot but will not be fully functional.
I am confuse
The zImage i have to put in new kernel for Xperia P JB or in old kernel of XU in ICS.
I have done a PORT but i need the kernel to compile it final.
But thsi is the problem Xperia P kernel or XU kernel i have to use
Solution
nikufellow: I don't know if replacing will do the job btw Why don't you try flashing zimage with fastboot/adb tool path (careful though) : fastboot flash zimage zImage

First thing, I ported that CM10 to neo l already!
Second thing, use turbo kernel and then install the cm9 play, its your choice if you want to edit the build.prop or not!

Go to the above link for a clear guide on porting.. I am not sure whether it works or not... But give a try... And abt installing CM10, just download the cm10 of play, open updater-script and remove the get prop lines at the beginning.. repack the zip and flash it on neo l...
One useful tip: Xperia Play is similar to Xperia Neo L... So u can try to flash those ROMs directly to ur device... If they do not work then u need to do minor changes.... Most of them do work without or with just some minor changes...

I don't think there's a kernel repository yet, but it's pretty important so when I get some time I'll set one up unless someone beats me to it.
Check in original android development section, @krabappel2548 has done a 523 dual recovery kernel, not sure about 290 though.
