[Q] Playstore Question - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Ive just upgraded my S3 to the Zdroid ROM 4.3 from the Lightforce ROM 4.2.2 Leak. Since doing so I can no longer access the Playstore or Amazon Appstore and some other apps on the Wifi at work, some however work fine like Tune in player pro.
I work in the UK in Norwich but somehow my companies internet connection goes through America so everything thinks im outside the UK, Iplayer, Freeview apps and the like.
What im trying to figure out is
How come my 4.2.2 rom was fine and I got onto everything using the same wifi connection
And
Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with 3G only for certain apps if I need them at work?
Any help appreciated
I did try and search but I couldn't find anything much to do with this sort of issue.

Either flash a stock rom or ask in your rom thread.

Thanks for the suggestion but its already deactivated.

Are other people in the office having the same issue or just your phone?

Just me as far as im aware, that's why I thought it was the ROM..

Sounds to me like it has to do with ZDroid 4.3 Rom. I would check with rom thread if its a known bug. Maybe try flashing a different 4.3 Rom and see if that fixes the issue, that way you can be sure its the rom.

Copilot won't start - anyone else?

Good morning all.
My Copilot (Live EU West version) freezes on the splashscreen for about 10 seconds, then just shuts down - no error messages. It doesn't seem to be running in Task Manager and Application Settings, but the icon persists in the notification bar until I clear it.
Tried with three ROMs - stock, Omega and Hypergalaxy. Have tried a fresh installation from Play and via a TB backup, same result each time. GPS is fine.
Anyone else and/or any advice? Awaiting reply from Copilot Support.
Many thanks.
CP Live premium runs for me on rooted stock .
Advice from CP is to delete all files and re download when changing roms .

Hi JJ. Tried that, still no go. Going to try a wipe>new stock ROM and see what haPPENS.
This same exact thing happens to me to on my Galaxy S2 and I have tried heaps of roms with no luck so I don't use CoPilot anymore but use Navigon Navigation which seems pretty good but still prefer CoPilot.
Update if anyone's interested - after a full wipe and factory reset, it now works on (a different) stock and Omega, but not HyperGalaxy or Zoom - these two are both very slim ROMs, ca. 200 MB.
HyperGalaxy's dev is investigating.
I think it's ics fault.
I had this issue with an old Copilot version. Use 9.1.0.269 or higher.

I am, on 9.1.0.327.
No replies from the devs of the affected ROMs yet, I'm staying with Omega for now.

No probs here on stock XXALEF with Copilot Live 8 - I actually had a worse time getting it to run on my GS2, I only just got it working about a month ago on my GS2 (copilot support guys are numpties!).
Post on their facebook page and they soon pay attention

Yeah it is. I never had this problem running on Gingerbread 2.3.3.
Co-pilot has the worse support ever! nevermind the support page on Copilot itself. it's confusing and frustrating.
This happened to my S2 as well but working fine on my S3. like someone mentioned after updated my S2 to ICS that's where the problems come in
Theres a fix for the issue that i got from their facebook page.

Does it run well though once sorted? Smooth etc?
I bought this ages ago, and i'm wondering whether to reload it onto my new GS3.
I'm using Waze or Google Nav atm.
Cheers!

There were no tts packages in the "slim" ROMs mentioned, but I installed them myself. They worked, CoPilot still didn't.
No help at all from the devs unfortunately. One doesn't have a SGS3 and one uses Navigon, so I can't complain. Their work, their choices.

[Q] Galaxy S3 browser

Hi guys,
Anyone encounter browser load only half page instead the whole web page? I tried others browser but still unable to load it full. Any solution or maybe any setting i need to configure?
Previously when i'm using Galaxy S2, i encounter same problem on stock ROM but after i rooted and switch to custom ROM it solve the issue.
But on Galaxy S3 i tried to use OMEGA custom ROM but the problem is still there, unsolve. Can anyone help me on this as i need my work website to be fully loaded in order to use my S3 for work purposes. Thanks...
People actually use stock browser and not Chrome beta? Blimey whoknew!

Using stock browser makes sense because it supports flash.
Chrome beta doesn't support flash and probably never will.

I love when people just reply with something that is not related with OP problem at all.
Anyway do you have the problem with both wifi and 3G?
If you only have this problem on wifi maybe the problem is not your phone / web browser but your router / internet connection. I never heard of this issue before and I watched a lot of video on youtube of the GS3 browser and it was loading pages perfectly (I don't have the phone yet).

I think the fact that Chrome still manages to stutter when scrolling on a quad core phone explains why people are yet to switch.
Ive been out of the game a while, but i actually quite like the stock browser. But in answer to the OP's question i have had no issues. Try Menu > Settings > Advanced > reset to defaults.
I have had some browser issues too, turned out my 5ghz router was the problem. Switched my router to 2.4ghz mode and everything was good again!

YouTube connection problem on Vodafone UK

Hi all,
Have the above problem and can't find the answer to it. I have tried loads of different roms and none of them allow me to access YouTube via the official app. I can view videos via the website and using rolles YouTube app but not the official app. I have just updated my mum's s3 to jellybean using the official update non rooted and YouTube works fine.
Is It something to do with being rooted, running a custom Rom or something completely different?
How can I solve this, any help would be great.
Cheers in advance,
Blinky

Looks that way, YouTube worked fine for me on stock and still does on miui. Can only really suggest using browser or 3rd party app such as tubemate (Google it)
Edit: re-read op, can see you're doing that already. What exactly happens when you try using the app? FC? Any errors messages?

Just states that the connection has been lost, press to they again.
Some of the adverts before the videos will play but not the chosen video.
Just can't understand why, haven't changed anything and even tried with fresh installs and nothing else installed.

You're not alone. I've been suffering with this for months now. I'm not on an S3 but on a Galaxy Nexus.
I'm currently running AOKP JellyBean M1 having the same issue. Can't remember if I had the problem on stock because that was back in January.
Google say they can't help and Vodafone say it must be the phone as there are no issues. I believe it has something to do with being a root user.
Very annoying as at work and home I get full HSDPA with unlimited data and I can't even make full use of it.
Over WiFi is fine, just on mobile internet I get the problem so clearly a conflict with Vodafone UK.
If anyone still having issues on this matter its because your fast dormancy rule is wrong when you are on custom roms.
edit the build.prop so that the value is =2 and reboot your phone.
ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=2
=1 means enabled
=0 means disabled
=2 means vodafone setting

I'm also on Vodafone UK and rooted but works fine, have you tried comparing APN settings with your mum, or sounds silly but try switching SIM cards over.

[Q] Best GB to JB option for Galaxy SII which is easily rootable?

So I've tried stock ICS but it didn't do it for me do I reverted back to GB 2.3.5 just for simplicity and ease of use.
However, I am thinking of going to JB once it's fully stable. I am currently running a root kernel bit that's it.
So, 2 questions arise here:
What's the easiest way to save my data as one file in Titanium Backup so I can reinstall on a new build?
Which build is fully JB ready? By this, I mean that all functions run flawlessly. I don't want an absence of wifi, gps, sms etc.
I know this sounds like I'm asking a lot, but I'm overcomplicating my request. So tl;dr, need GB to JB upgrade whilst keeping app and data settings.
Oh yes, I am on the 3 UK network.
Thank you.

Wrong section to post in.
But,
For apps u can use titanium back up
SMS - SMS back up and restore
Call log - call log back up and restore
Photos stay
And the recommended JB ROMs are either root box or resurrection remix, all JB ROMs are stable and are fully functional in reference to calls SMS WiFi and gps

If you have the pro key (definitely worth it) you can do batch restore, and sort them into categories. Don't know if this will help but it'll save loads of time

Go ahead and try a JB rom, use titanium backup saves Tons of time, but remember if you back up while in a JB rom then, try to go back to ICS some apps may conflict.
GO JB!!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Use Dorimanx 7.10 as your kernel and then you can dual boot a few JB roms to try.
Rootbox 3.1 looks great.
I use Jelly King - smooth stable and just works for me.
If you like the straight Android look and feel - SuperNexus Build 5 is a great way to go!
All the so many options. Thanks for the replies, I'll have a look at them.
When you say they are pre-rooted, has the triangle been removed also? Not a problem if it hasn't.

It just sets the region pool, which I'm guessing is what he was possibly trying to do, back in the day it was how you did it, by editing GPS configuration.xml
ok thx for the replies, ya probably if the phone works everything is fine
