[Q] i537 qpst no phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First, please forgive me as I am a novice at best,
My wife bought 2 unlocked i537 for us for Christmas off of ebay from different sellers. We are currently with T-mobile and notice that the 4g seemed to drop in and out. Upon reading the "[GUIDE] Using I537 on T-Mobile and other AWS Networks", I successfully got one phone to work, however I have been trying for a week, almost 2 weeks to get the other one to work with no success. I've tried numerous drivers, pc, cable etc... I've compared the settings on the phones *#0808#, *#2264#, *#0011# *#*#4636#*#* and any of the others I've found.
Android version 4.2.2
Kernel 3.4.0-784654 [email protected]#1
Build JDQ39.I537UCUAMF3
SELinux status Permissive
My question(s) are:
1. Is there a way to get qpst to recognize the com port without coming back with "no phone"
2. Is there another tool or software I could use to do the AWS flash?
3. If none of the above, Would it be possible or even correct to copy something from the working phone to the non-working phone? of course without damaging the IMEI/ESN...
Instructions are helpful as I am new to this, but very interested in learning.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!

You'll probably get the help you need in the S4 Active Q&A section (i'm assuming it's the device you have)

[Q] Can't seem to fully reflash SG Note 2 with stock ROM. Help please!

Hi, and firstly, thanks to any and all who offer their knowledge to assist my conundrum.
I recently purchased a Bell Canada version of the SG Note 2 (i317), I am on Telus so I attempted to Unlock the phone. I looked online and found people were having success unlocking these phones for free using the *#197327640# method, (whereby you go into the service mode, turn off the PERSHO_256 and then INITIALLIZ).
I tried this method and the phone then seemed to work with my telus sim, but only for voice, not data. When I put in a Bell SIM from a friend, both voice and data worked fine - which tells me its not a hardware (radio) issue. I also tried using another friends Telus SIM and had the same results as mine - which tells me it's not a SIM error. Also, all the settings in the mobile network area appeared to be correctly set up.
So, my next step was to try and reflash the phone to the stock Bell ROM and then just buy an Unlock code. I downloaded the stock ROM (2 different ones actually) and used Odin 3.07 to reload the ROM. I've tried it several times now, with both Bell ROMs and each time it says it's been successful, but the phone remains in the same, partially unlocked state.
It seems as though by using the PERSHO_256 method I have permanently, PARTIALLY unlocked the phone. I can't seem to re-lock it by installing the stock Bell ROM, and since it's unlocked, I can't get the foreign SIM error to come up to enable me to put in my purchased unlock code.
If anyone has any insights, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
-Luke
You should ask questions about a specific device in its own Q&A. (unless it doesn't have one). Cuz people there have the same phone and will know exactly what to do.
LIFE! IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF IT!
Will do, thanks for the tip!

Possible solution unlocking international I9300 - Missing Samsung Service Mode menus

Hi guys/girls,
Well I had some issues last week with attempting to unlock an I9300T (same as I9300 only it picks up the 2400hz band from the Telstra service provider) anyway, eveyone was mentioning 'Just flash back to ICS to downgrade the bootloader, unlock and flash back again' or something along those lines. Needless to say the first thing I did was root the phone to back up the EFS/IMEI and in the process of rooting via Odin with CF-Root....the task in it's self bungled the EFS anyway. So corrupt EFS, no signal and IMEI displaying as 0049. On a side note I discovered a new and much easier way of recovering your EFS should anyone run into those sorts of issues.
It was told following tutorials from various sources that the Service Mode menu input for simlock works on international SGS3 models???? Well apparently it DOESN'T....so all my effort was wasted I guess? Flashing the phone and bricking it several times. Anyway my point I wanted to make was that there is quite a difference the Service modes available for Australian/International I9300 devices.
I am curious to know (if possible?) transplanting the serviceModeApp.apk from a device where Network unlock can be performed by simply pinning in the service code via the dialer....to un-sim-lock the device??
Would somebody who has successfully unlocked their I9300 via this method be willing to share their serviceModeApp.apk for me to be able to test this theory??
EDIT: Needs to be Android 4.1.1 from what I have just read now?
Oh and just for clarification, I would be needing the serviceModeApp.apk from the version of Android that you were running when you unlocked your device, not the one you are running now if you have updated firmware versions since then? So most likely I would be asking someone to dig through one of their Nandroid backups to extract the serviceModeApp.apk from that particular firmware...EDIT From reading I believe I'll specifically need Android 4.1.1 (Not 4.0.4 or 4.1.2)
The reason I request this is mainly due to the fact that older firmware versions are becoming difficult to come by since the collapse of most of the major online file-storage providers such as Hotfile. Seems like an awful lot of work for me to go through for one apk also ....then to learn that the one I choose for what ever reason was NOT the correct one for unlocking because of the region and/or service provider the firmware was from or any other long list of unknown variables.
So yeah if someone that unlocked during ICS can fish out that APK for me that would be really appreciated, not only that but if it proves to be successful we will have a lot less people bricking their phones
Many many thanks in advance!:good:

[Q] Phone settings say g900f but odin says g900t

Hi Guys,
2 months ago I bought a Samsung s5 in Hong Kong.
While travelling through South East Asia this device worked fine.
While traveling through New Zealand (Old home) this phone worked fine.
While traveling through America (New Home) this phone worked fine for the first 2 weeks (on the metroPCS network).
The problem:
Randomly after 2 weeks the s5 stopped connecting to the metroPCS mobile network even though the network was available (btw metroPCS uses the T-Mobile network). It gives errors such as network not available or cannot register with network.
Things I have tried:
-Im sure the APN settings of the phone have not changed and I have double checked to see if they are correct.
-replacing the sim card with another does not fix the issue
-soft and hard reset of the phone does not fix the issue
-Getting metroPCS to refresh the service on this number does not fix the issue
Other important info:
-This phone was purchased in hong kong but it is from the Philippians according to Kies's firmware information (XTC is the country code)
-It is running a custom allianceROM that must have been installed by someone in hongkong
-The device is rooted (superuser app installed)
-the model number as shown in settings is g900f BUT when attempting to flash with odin the phone displays g900t and fails to flash the latest Philippians verison of kit-kat
I have 2 questions:
1. Any ideas why my network connection has suddenly self destructed (and how to fix)?
2. Would flashing a stock ROM to my s5 help? and if so why is there conflicting information on which model I own (g900t/g900f)?
Please help. I do have some know how on flashing android devices but i've really hit the wall on this one guys!
Cheers,
Yetti.:cyclops:
It's not uncommon for the model # to be different with a custom rom as that is a very easy thing to edit in the build.prop. It should tell you under the battery which one it is. As far as the network issues, check to see if the baseband and IMEI are still there and not listed as unknown or incorrectly. It's possible you could get away with flashing the appropriate modem that matches with your update and that might work better in this region vs the previous one.
Please list the Alliance rom version and baseband version here in case it's relevant to your issue.
More info
Im not sure if this helps but looking through the build.prop file in the system folder my ro.product.local.region=GB
When in recovery mode the region is set to XTC (Philippians) using mutli-csc.
Also my IMEI number seems ok and is NOT blocked.
Cheers. Yetti :cyclops:
Baseband and rom etc
Thankls for your reply!
Sorry when you say "under the battery symbol" do you mean in /odins boot script on the device/ or /in settings on the phone/?
Baseband is g900TUVU1ANCH
Build Num: AllianceROM_G900F_XXU1ANCF
If the "no network" issue can be solved with the current firmware that would be the most desirable solution but going through the flashing process may be a good idea for my learning process, and will help with future updates.
Do you think getting back to a stock rom would help me?
tHANKS AGAIN!:cyclops:
Model confirmed to be g900t
Sorry i didn't understand the "under the battery" thing. I was lost in software world. The sticker under the physical battery says SM-900T so i guess that confirms that it is a t-moble verison (and the baseband is therefore correct).
I will try to flash the T-Mobile stock image to the phone and see if that works.
Also i will try to flash a modem (after i work out which one i need).
Cheers, Yetti :cyclops:
Current status.
Flashed the stock T-Mobile firmware to the phone. No success.
Flashed new modem to the phone. No success.
Will go to the T-Mobile store tomorrow to see if they can help (I doubt it but i have to exhaust all the options).
Any more help would be appreciated...
cheers, yetti:cyclops:
By under the battery I mean like to take off the battery cover of the phone and pull the battery out and look at the sticker found there.
G900t.

Yep it says g900t (see above)
As per flashing a modem. I have heard that it is possible to flash any modem for any version of the s5 to the phone. Some work well and others not so much. I have tried 2 T-Mobile modems (baseband) the G900TU1ANCH and the G900TUVU1BNG3 with no success. Do you have any recommendations for a modem to try (or even a custom ROM that might help?)
Cheers,
Yetti :cyclops:
I know that you mentioned they refreshed the service for your number, but do they have the correct IMEI in the system for your account? Metro makes a big deal about that now and you can't just take your SIM from another phone and pop it in a new one and go like you can with pretty much every other service (Cricket is like this too now).

QPST Help

First off, thanks for tolerating this somewhat noobish post, but I've searched through almost the whole internet trying to find answers.
Alright, so here's the dealio.
Sprint Galaxy Note 3. UICC unlocked via idoneapp, then used on domestic T-Mobile through GCF settings. I want to enable more bands as described in the following links: here and here.
I get as far as Step 9 in the second link. Then, I go to select a port, and it's not there. OK, so I uncheck the "diagnostic port only" check box, and select COM12 which is what my phone is on. No big deal, right? So I go to read/backup my NV and I start it; it only gets to 12% and says "Could not Communicate in Diagnostic Mode"
That's it. I've tried different USB ports, different USB cables, other USB modes on the phone, I even have a custom kernel. I really hope it's something obvious that I'm doing wrong instead of something that's a niche error.
Thanks, guys.
I ended up being able to read the LTE bands with DFS and write them with QXDM. The only thing is that there is no LTE/GSM/UMTS mode on the phone, so it's either LTE/CDMA or GSM/UMTS for now until I figure out if I can flash some other ROM to it to let it use the other bands, cause right now it only wants to look at band 25.
So I've been trying to flash the N900T MI7 modem/baseband on my N900P but I can never get it to flash in Odin. I've been able to put the modem and non-hlos in flash able zips and flash those but it never shows up. I've also tried to dd the files directly but that doesn't work either. Ideas?
I am impressed it's not bricked yet.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app

So basically what happened was I found a couple other tools to do what I wanted. First was DFS tool. This works well, because it can both read and write bands to the nv of the phone. I forget what the second was, but it could both read and write the raw value of any given value in the nvram. I'll have to dig through my stuff again if you want to know what the second program was. The fact of the matter is that I was never able to get it working right. The phone always looked at band 25 LTE no matter what bands I turned on/off of the phone.
another ?

I never did get QPST to connect to my phone. I think I was able to get it to see the phone at some point, but it would never read anything from it or write anything to it. The program always froze up or something when I tried that. If I could remember the second program I used, I'd share it with you all, but for the life of me, I can't think of it.
Edit: Oh hey, the two programs I used are RIGHT IN MY SECOND POST. lol. Yeah, use DFS tool to read the NV and QXDM to write the NV. It'll save you a whole lot of trouble over doing stuff with QPST.

Well, 3G will work fine without changing anything anyway. All of the bands are already enabled. 4G is the issue.

Yes 4G is the big pb, i found that DFS Tools write 3G bands but for LTE, the issue is in BC Config Div, need SPC code
i tried to find SPC /MSL code but no chance
I will install SPR-N900PVPUBMJ4 rom and after SPR-N900PVPUBMJ3 modem and use DSF tools to set it 000000
hope i will work

Flash the MI3 (that's emm eye three) modem and then use the app included in the zip file to find the MSL code. Here's a link to the zip file: http://bit.ly/1oZDO9t
I was not aware that you could change the MSL code with DFS tools. At least I have a Verizon Note 3 now, so I have a lot more LTE bands than the Sprint version does (although I don't care all that much; I think I may switch to the Nexus 6 soon). But yeah, try the stuff in the zip file from the link, and you should be able to
Find your MSL code
Unlock your phone internationally
Use hidden menus
Most of all, have fun! I know for sure this can be very very frustrating a lot of the time, but if you don't have fun, then I don't think there's much profit in trying stuff like this. Good luck!

I just did it with my Verizon Note 3 on Windows 10, so I know it's not a Windows 10 issue. Also, QPST seemed to work with my Verizon phone but not my Sprint phone. Weird. Make sure you're running QXDM as administrator. Also, I unlocked all of the LTE bands in this way but I can't seem to get LTE from my GSM sim card, even by going into the service mode and enabling all LTE bands.

Yes; for LTE i found in hiddn menu, that they use Tri Bands (25, 26 & 41), so for others bands will not work.
I don't know how i can disable this and force it to use bands 3, 7 20.

I honestly couldn't tell you, and I'm not sure how much help I'm going to be in general. I've tried it on both of my Note 3 phones but have had no confirmed success. Sprint especially is the one carrier that sticks out like a sore thumb, and by association, so do their phones. I've had plenty of frustration on that front, that's for sure.

Maybe. Really they have a method to do anything I would advise against trying to do that, although I'm not sure what harm it could do if you can still get back into download mode. I've tried flashing different versions' firmware to the N900P with no success.

How to find exact model of my Vodafone Smart Tab 4G without the label on the back

I have purchased a used Smart Tab 4G running 4.4.4, Kernel version 3.10.28+, Build Number 060FKG1 which I wish to unlock. It arrived without a label on the back.
It's not rooted.
I understand that there are 2 variants, Alcatel P323X and P353X, and to get the correct unlock key I need to know which it is.
How can I find this out.
Similarly I dont know the locked in provider but blieve it is Vodafone UK.
Finally I have tried several places to get ADB drivers to allo me to use adb, but so far have been unable to find them, so I cannot either backup or install or use terminal fromthe pc.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed - Getting unlocked is the immediate priority, followed by rooting.
Any help would be very helpful - I have happi;y rooted older phones (HTC desire, Transformer TF101) using instructions from xda-developers, but for the Tab 4G I am a bit stuck
a) by not being able to see it in ADB and
b) not knowing exactly the product I am using.
TIA
