Hello everyone
I was looking for the answet yet I couldn't find it.
I have rooted HTC Desire X, S-ON, and stock rom (TMobile), Android 4.0, and I wanted to delete some system apps I found useless (facebook, twitter etc). Unfortunatelly, once I deleted them and rebooted my phone, everything came back to normal state (all apps were restored). I tried different apps to remove system ones, but every time it is the same. I cannot change my boot animation as well, cause it restores default one as well.
All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys

You need to have a custom kernel with 'htc write protection disabled'

it this kernel fine?

Yes.
after flashing this kernel phone booting stoped on white HTC screen and stoped reacting. I rebooted into fastboot and flashed another kernel and it is fine for now ( a little bit buggy I'd say and slower than stock one), but what to do to make the first kernel work?
EDIT:
Now I'm working with this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142286&page=2
still cannot remove system apps
Tried to flash 1st kernel once again, but it failed again, same as previously.

Did u flash infinity kernel v5? Or nexus kernel v3? Try & then report again.
Edit: the kernel with 1.4 ghz overclock that you flashed is for ics only! So try infinity kernel v5 or nexus kernel v3

Ohh...sorry.
Didn't pay attention on that!
Android 4.0.4 is ICS, right? then everything should work fine ;(
I installed v5 first, then boot failed>installed 1.4GHz, everything fine except I can't delete sys apps > then tried v5 again, boot failed again > now I'm on 1.4GHz again to keep phone working

It will always take time for a custom kernel to set up! So immediately after flashing,it will show some lags
U need to have patience that's it.
yep, I noticed that with these kernels I've flashed earlier, but this was extremely laggy
After flashing Prototype #13 it is lightspeed and removing apps works as well.
So thanks a lot
P.S.: I've also installed PurePerformances (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670) and it is great ;D

I also hate the fact that they're all in one..
I think im going back to lg original rom, where can i get it? or maybe void rom? i didnt do nand backup when i install megatron rom.
other question, i found that signedkernel.zip(lag when hold fix kernel) doesnt work on megatron rom. or is it just me?

This a more detailed version of how to return to stock including tips from other users who have done it before. I believe that they are grouped together since the ROM is ROOTED. So all custom ROMs will be the same. I think when I used stock rom and rooted my phone, they all came together again.
If you just want the categories feature of the launcher, switch back to LG Home (the stock launcher).

please tell me how to do that, im so desperate to separate my downloaded apps and preinstalled apps from together but still using megatron rom. i would be happy.
another question, if i uninstall the setcpu apps, will my processor back to default(600mhz)?
and the signedkernel.zip(lag when touch fix kernel) seems like doesnt work when i installed megatron rom. when i play pes it still lag when i move the player. but before installing the megatron rom, the kernel worked, its smooth when i play pes. so i thought maybe installing a new rom would delete the kernel, so install the kernel again. and still, the same result. if you guys can help me i would be the happiest man alive. lol

Everything else, no idea. AFAIK Megatron automatically overclocks your phone somewhere at 700MHz on boot, so yeah, it's still OC'ed.

owh i see, so i dont think i need setcpu anymore to oc my phone cos like u said megatron rom automatically oc our phone to 700mhz right. mine is running 800mhz using setcpu. so is that mean if i uninstall setcpu, my processor will be back to 700mhz right.
hmm is there anyway i can force all my downloaded apps and games especially gameloft to sdcard?
and one last question, how can i uninstall my current kernel? i want to confirm myself did the lag when hold fixed kernel(forgot the name) work or not when using megatron rom. or maybe itr just me.
anyway thanks so much and waiting for the next reply
Hello guys,
I installed CoolICS rom after I was on LeeDroid with Sense 3.0
After installation my phone started rebooting every 30 minutes. I restored LeeDroid one from nandroid backup.
Is it possible that this behaviour is caused by restore of some apps from Titanium Backup?
I was doing some debugging using the Android Monitor from tdk, but right before the reboot there was no error message.
I am running latest firmware and lates 4ext recovery.
I really want to go for ICS or Jelly Bean.
Thanks for your help!
actually it reboots after LeeDroid nandroid restore. Is it possible to be the new firmware?
You should try running Cool ICS for a while with only basic setup and no TB apps restored for while and see if the problem persists. I'm not familiar with the app you mentioned, but have you been able to pull a logcat after you have the reboots?

sounds like its your firmware dude. i had an issue like that as well. get a freeza all in one zip for radio and reflash your radio but find one that is for your setup. it looks like you are GSM is that correct?. just my opinion or if your using a modded kernel make sure your not going to far up on overclocking it can cause bootloops.

Hi man,
Thanks for answering.
I flashed the suggested firmware in the post for the ROM I am using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647674
I downloaded firmware from the link in Install section on post #1. I am running GSM indeed. I have installed only basic Sense stuff from the ROM without any AOSP functionality.
Since I am not really good in this, may you please advise which Firmware will be OK for me.
As for the kernel - it is the Stock one.

Hello,
So, I flashed latest Radio from following thread:

And all is OK now. No reboots . I had uptime of 12 hours and rebooted to perform nandroid backup. Now I am at 5:30 hours uptime.
Thanks for all your help!
Actually, any known issues with Radio 11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M
It was the one that made my phone reboot. I rollbacked to 10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M - Isn't this for Gingerbread (I am running ICS)

Hello,
I flashed 3 ROMs - the same with all of them. ROMs are Evolver 3D, KingCobra 3D (one that i am running now) and CoolICS 3D. With each, I flashed the kernel that came with it. My device was rebooting with all of them. It is only after I flashed 10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M . that my device stopped rebooting.
So starting yesterday my droid dna has been stuck in a boot loop. I just bought it about 5 days ago.
It was rooted and running supercharged HTC sense rom and stock kernal.
I tried everything I could find online.
I relocked bootloader and restored rom using the RUU exe that everyone links, I re-unlocked installed the rom again to see if that would work and it allowed maybe 2 full boots out of 100+ tries occasionally it booted up and had several crashes on the supercharged that included the custom AC!D sound mod adn the UI would lock up if I tried to make or answer a call. I tried re-restoring with the RUU. all fastboot commands worked fine with no error on restoring the bootloader and recovery etc.
NOTHING is working. Please help for the love of my brand new droid dna which has already boot looped...
Have you tried just restoring from your backup? The one you made before flashing the rom

You're supposed to use the kernel that's supplied with the rom, not the stock kernel.

There's a discussion in that thread about the developer including the kernel in the rom, doing that won't flash the kernel. It doesn't look like the instructions were updated to reflect that. Try Supercharged Hatka, made by the same developer along with Mustafa.
I managed to get it to boot up as stock with a 2nd relocking using fastboot oem lock and the RUU.exe. Haven't had any issues yet. I will see if anything goes wrong. Made a few calls and restored off gmail account.
Now that you got it running don't use that Rom this time, try Supercharged Hatka or Viper.

Maybe. There are so many boot.img files floating around things get mixed up and sometimes you forget what kernel you're running until you look at the About phone menu. It would be nice if they could be named appropriately.

Hi, just bought an og ,coming from HTC phone. There r some new things it looks like. What is a EFS ? Back up EFS partition ? I'm gonna used the my att og on straight talk , any things I should watch out for ? Should stay 100 % stock until service is activated? I'm looking for a near stock stable optimized rom, any to recommend ? Which kernel is good for it ? Htcs have hboot , it looks like lgs use different things , how do I go around flashing radios ? Excuse me for throwing out tons of noob questions , gonna start somewhere

Welcome. There is a zip file that you put on your external SD card somewhere in the optimus g forums that will backup your efs partition.
Edit: I found it for you if you haven't had any luck finding it. Also.. The efs supposedly holds your imei number and stuff.

Mystery's eg8 is based on 20j 4.1.2 stock with addons and enhancements. I think Houstonn's is a port from another OG that was released with jellybean before AT&T got the update.
Can you please clarify a bit? Do you mean stock LG or stock Google/Android.
Stock LG: Either go with MysteryEmotion's eg8 Or SnowJBLeaopard's SnowJB -almost forgot SlickRom, that is super debloated, but not really to my liking. (forgot who posted it)
Stock Google/Android: Either Shelnutt's Unofficial 10.1 Or houstonn's Vanilla Rootbox. The latter has a lot of "bells and whistles" while the former is basically stock. Also should mention TuxAttack's Beanstalk. Also a lot of bells and whistles though.

Personally I would go with dvhexers CM 10.1.2, and his included kernel is quite good. This is stock android/CM though, with a bit of searching and patience you can run LG Home on top of this, with the original weather/clock and calendar.
i.e.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198225
So then you have the best of both. Too many options for you not to get out there any try a few. But @dvhexers CM10.1 I think was perfectly stable.
I am using the JellyBean ROM. I have been on it for about a month now and haven't had any issues that wasn't caused by me
Though, other than that I suggest mysteryemotionz
okay, I'll probably go with ME eg8 and his V6.1 kernel for 4.1.2. just being on the safe side , should i flash a JB radio for this rom ? if yes, do i flash in RECOVERY ? i have found a radio called CWM-ATTJB-Radio, is this the right one ? Sorry, for some reason I called the ROM 'Beanstalk' Jellybean.
It was ported from the infuse 4G. I have tried just about every ROM and this one is my favorite.
Maybe it is just me, but again I haven't had any real issue with it. I did have a kernel crash from MysteryEmotionz kernel though. I then flashed Smoochas and all is good.
The crash occurred whenever I tried to run a QR code app. (any QR code app)

ME's eg8 is modified stock, it should come with his kernel already. Yes the radio's flash in CWM as zips, you can manually push with ADB/Fastboot commands, but why bother.
What are you referring to by "Flash image GUI" ? If you mean "clockwork mod recovery" or "TWRP" then yes. Once you download the freegee app from the market, it will give you the option for either, choose which ever you like more, personally I prefer CWM. Yes always wipe dalvik cache after you flash a kernel, so it can recreate the DEX files for that particular kernels methods of execution.

I'm not familiar with those apps, and don't recall seeing them mentioned here at all. FWIW, I personally avoid any apps that flash things. They may make things convenient, but I've seen too many issues caused on too many devices by apps that flash stuff.
Just read the relevant threads to learn about what you are doing, and flash manually from recovery. That way, you're in control of what you're doing. Less chance of snafus caused by incompatibilities...

You can't go back from a newer JB-firmware to ICS easily: it has another efs-format (makes loose IMEI) and needs another bootloader. Use search function to inform.
ICS isn't necessary for good battery life. Try NCS-ROM (JB) or Slim (KK or LP).

i will stick with NCS ROM, good ram management, very light rom.. KK is boring and not baterry friendly.. and lollipop is too laggy.. so ics isn't worth it on S3?
I used NCS for 1 year, but JB isn't safe anymore. So I'm on SlimLP. It runs fine, if you don't install elephants. As batteryfriendly as TW. ICS is out of area IMO and tricky to go back.
But if you have such strict opinions about various Androidversions, why do you ask?

You can go back to jb to ics. If you face imei lost problem, u can easily fix it by flashing modem.
Try this Ics custom rom. Epsilon Project - ICS - V3 and use older version of cwm recovery to flash this rom.
I tried this rom a month ago good battery life than other roms. But ics rom don't support more new apps
I suggest you to try Liquid smooth KK rom Use greenify and Amplify to get good battery life.

I tried this rom a month ago good battery life than other roms. But ics rom don't support more new apps
I suggest you to try Liquid smooth KK rom Use greenify and Amplify to get good battery life.
