how to install hyperdrive rls11 on mk2? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

OK so I'm brand new here and I've been reading for hours but haven't found what I'm looking for....I'm looking for a step by step of how to install the newest hyperdrive on my mk2 build. I've installed the newest safestrap and backed up my system. If someone could give me a step by step including everything as if I was a dumbass (although it's only half true ) I would be extremely grateful!!!

I just need to know if you can use the MJ7 modules with MK2. From what I read after SS is installed you install HD11 and the modules too. I'm pretty sure you need to install the modules or it wont work, except on hashcodes thread it says mk2 is coming soon, so either we can use MJ7 modules or have to wait.

so you rooted, have safestrap installed? ...you want to know how to install hyperdrive in a rom slot? have you created a rom slot yet? There are a couple videos out there on youtube that shows how to use safestrap

Hey, also fairly new around here. If you don't mind me asking, How did you manage to get safestrap on MK2? I was checking last night and it seemed like hashcode didn't finish getting safestrap working yet. Thanks!

No I think I can figure out how to make the slot....mostly I'm trying to figure out what files I have to flash after flashing main hyperdrive rom.

Just installed it like a regular apk. Search for the newest version 3.70, put it on your internal SD card and install!

if you are rooted and have safestrap 3.7 installed. On mk2 base you will need the mk2 kernel module and hyperdive 11 zip.....in safestrap you can install multiple zips so you selected the HD11 zip, follow by the mk2 module. The two have to be installed together with no reboot between
be good to go
a search in dev thread for mk2 module should turn up something
this is not the mk2 radio but a kernel module that safestrap needs for the base ROM to work especially the wifi portion

Just to confirm.
It states the compatibility for RLS11 is MDK Base phones or MJ7 Base using Safestrap. It should, however, work with an MK2 Base with the MK2 module, right?
Thanks.

Great. Thanks a bunch.

Can't post in development yet, but figured it's relevant. I followed directions in OP and hyper drive is working flawlessly. Thanks for the rom, and thanks to hash for the new mk2 SS!

You can't. I suggest you look at some of threads talking about boot loaders.... Safestrap . mj7 is fully locked down. Hash code is working on porting his safestrap to work on 4.3 bases

Sadly, this gets repeated over and over:
If you upgrade past MDK, you can't bypass the bootloader, which means you can't install custom recovery or custom kernels.
Once you install a release, you usually can't install any prior release (the only exception is that MK2 can be downgraded to MJ7).

Flashing roms on mj7/mdk safestrap

Is the only way right now to flash a rom is to delete all data in stock slot on ss then flash a compatible rom? I dont want to have to lose my data to do this.

Officially there is no way to flash a custom ROM on MJ7. Unofficially i have heard of some people doing this, but i HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND IT! This is because if you screw something up there is a high chance of bricking. For now i would advise you to wait until Hashcode has ported safestrap over to MJ7.

Well it's just that Safestrap for 4.3 is in beta right now. It is risky and unless you don't care if you brick the phone or are really experienced I would wait it out.

I agree...unless you don't need your phone or like to reflash and do Odin...its beta and hashcode does his development step by step. Loading Roms and having issues with a beta release won't speed the process. Pay attention to what hashcode wants...I'm just saying

MJ7
Safestrap 3.71 is working with safestrap and RLS 11& RLS12 is working flawlessly. I have it in slot 2 on my S4. I highly reccommend flashing only stock kernel with installer then installing MJ7 patch before initial boot then changing kernel if need be.
Let me know if this helps!

I just got done about 2 days ago with moving to mj7 via the non wipe Odin file, then OTA'd to mk2, rooted with the safe root process, installed safe strap 3.71, installed HD12 and moved it to the stock side.
I gotta say I'm definitely impressed with HD12 and how smooth it is.

[Q] MK2 SafeStrap Black Screen?

Hello all, so I have a question or two to ask. My VZW SGS4 is running MK2, Rooted, and has SafeStrap 3.70 B01.
I am trying to install GPE-VZW. But when I flash the ME7 Modules I get a blank screen on Rom boot.
I have read that after flashing the SafeStrap Compatible ROM you need to flash the corresponding Module zip.
Do I need to flash the module that the Rom im trying to install (ME7) is based off of, or do I need to flash the Kernel Modules that correspond to what my stock is running (MK2)?
Also I have tried to pull the dhd.ko and the scsi_wait_scan.ko from MK2 and flash those two on the GPE slot but I still get the blank screen every time.
Other than the blank screen the system seems to be operational, I can press the menu button and get haptic feedback and also UI Sounds...
Very confused
Thank you!

Thank you for the information. So with that being said, I have also attempted to install Hyperdrive 11. I get that same black screen issue.
Can you explain how the module files work? I need to flash the one that corresponds to the STOCK rom right? so if im running mk2 on stock, i flash the modules to the rom-slot-1 after HDRLS11. Will the MJ7 modules work?

The kernel module that is needed must match the base of your phone, in your case would be the mk2 kernel module. This is what I know that will not cause issues, you must flash the kernel module immediateky after the ROM install in safestrap without any reboot inbetween. Safestrap allows you to select multiple zips to install, so you would select HD11 zip, then select the kernel module zip and then hit install.
a search in dev thread should turn up the mk2 kernel module you need.
and yes you will have to reinstall HD11 unless someone else can verify you can flash the kernel module later

Depends, is phone a MK2 build or MDK? Many people get baseband and build number mixed up. They are not the same thing
If its MK2 build you can't load a recovery like TWRP or CWM as the bootloader, since MDK is fully lock down. You only option is safestrap and a handful of safestrap compatible ROMS.
plenty of info here that you need to know. Plenty of threads to digest
Mine is MK2 Build. It's already rooted with safestrap. So will any Safestrap ROM work? As long as I flash the MK2 add on?

Yes... And like he said there really are only a handful of safestrap ROMs... I'd suggest trying out hyper drive first and see how you like it.

thats correct. If a ROM is safestrap compatible and you flash the kernel module associated with your build.
Please note, that hyperdrive has a SPECIFIC safestrap ROM, don't download the other one. I have tried everyone to date and still go back to HD12

If you like the look of inverted, vanilla AOSP, look into Eclipse ROM. The developer, well known here, is nitroglycerine33. He is currently working on a Safestrap version of his Eclipse ROM so people like us with locked bootloaders can use his ROM. It has that beautiful AOSP look, and has really excellent battery life.
Cheers

[Q] Modules for safestrap?

Hi guys,
If I already have a mk2 verizon s4, would I still need to flash the mk2 modules after flashing a mk2 base rom (hyperdrive rls 14)? I have gotten both answers- Yes, flash and No, don't flash- and I am not sure which one is actually correct.

That would only be the case if you took the highly risky case of flashing over the stock ROM using Safestrap. If you flash to a non-stock slot, you must always flash the relevant kernel modules.
