Galaxy Note 2 & S3 Video player .apk? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have the GN2 and my wife has the S3. Her phone updated to the new 4.3 push from Verizon and I manually updated my GN2 using Beanstown's leaked firmware. Having done this, I'm now seeing Verizon saw fit to remove the ability to capture still images from playing video (like video I took myself using the phone). I realize that's probably not a feature a lot of people use, but we certainly do (did). Can anyone provide or link to the last version's video player .apk so I can roll it back? Or failing that, tell me if I'm missing the way to do it with this current version? Thanks all in advance.

[Q] Is there a dedicated video app in stock 3.1

I was wondering if there was a dedicated video app that come stock, that didn't require starting the movie first?
The app is Gallery.
Thanks Kevin, therefore its built into the gallery.
Touchwiz has a dedicated video app. You can install a 99% working version of TW now to try it, or wait for the official update to our Tab's from Samsung.
Don't feel like messing with a 3G version of touchwiz on my Tab, I'll wait for sammy to release it. Anyone know when it's supposed to be released?
My other question is: Is there any way to have movies show up as an icon or movie poster (similar to an iPad) in gallery? All of my movies start off with a black screen, so they all look the same and there is no title under it to distinguish. I know i can click the little info button to see the filename, but I'd like a cleaner approach.

I read somewhere, at some point July 19th was a target date at some point but I don't remember where I read it and if it still applies.
I use moboplayer. It's free, plays fullscreen, and can play avi files.

[Q] Stock Video Player missing

Hi everyone,
Just picked up a brand new Plum/Purple S5830 Ace for the wife and for some strange and bizarre reason it hasn't got a stock video player... is this right?!
I've tried loads of different FW's (up to 2.3.5) and it's still not there, even after a format/wipe etc..
Does anyone have the stock apk from/for the Ace please? Would be gratefully appreciated, thank you.
(I know there are others in the market, but I like the simplicity of the stock player)
Thanks again,
Thanks for looking, but guess this phone doesn't ship with a stock video player. Shame
We get only gallary not any specific video player app
so use gallary or any good from market

hi thanks iv already tried that, the problem with that is it force closes on me when i switch to the audio edit part and then try to go back to the video.. also it doest let you remove the sound from the origional video like the movie maker does in galaxy s2.
Just installed Andromedia Video Editor, but unistalled it straight away as it was picked up as a threat by TrustGo Security which advised that it could read your phone book, change your browser homepage and create shortcuts without your permission.
Have to say, I love the fact I can get free apps through the Play Store, but why do the app creators have to let themselves down by building crapware into the app? Stuff like that actually makes me want to pay,
there's video maker which is free in the Samsung more services app

Allshare Play

Is it or does the new version of Allshare app blows in comparison to the old one (S2)?
I'm assuming I'd have to root and deodex my phone in order to copy the old one?

Agreed.. I want the old AllShare back! I tried pushing the apk, but it only starts then FCs. :crying:
Here's a couple of the bad things I've noticed:
The new one is not backwords compatible with the PC version of the Allshare app, therefore installing another web based app
Any video I stream from the phone has to buffer every 10 seconds, unlike the old one, same video, is silky smooth with no hicups
I can't browse by folders!!!!!!!!!! I have scroll through hundreds of videos!!!!!!!!
How would Twonky compare for DLNA streaming?

I pulled the Dlna.apk (allshare) from my sgs2 and it seems to work fine. Only problem is its hard to see some of the fonts for some reason. Still usable though and am attaching it here in case anyone wants to try. Just copy it to system apps. No force closes for me and yeah you need to be rooted. I felt the same about new allshare so I use the old version
Oh and the other issue is your media server will see your device as i9100 since its from that device

They must have made changes from Epic to SGS2 if the epic apk didn't work.
Also, I just realized the other day that you can go into More Settings -> Nearby devices -> File Sharing. You can also share that way. However, playing with it I am not able to stream MKV container videos to my TV. Whereas with the Allshare App I attached above works no problem. You can stream MKVs without issue. The only issue is that allshare is hard to see because of the white theme and the thumbnails look a little pixelated. Its works fine though
Yeah, I miss original Allshare too. I can't seem to find my Onkyo Receiver to ouput to.

BBC News app

Has anyone gotten the current Market BBC News app to play videos? I'm running CM 10.2.1 and have both Flash and MX Player installed but if I select a video that accompanies a news story I get some kind of player with a "loading" circle on the screen--forever.
For a lark I thought to try an old version of the app that I use on my NST (although there is no sound on the NST....) and that version (1.3.4) brings up the MX Player and everything works fine, although I do think the still image resolution is not as good as on the current Market app.
Any solutions (other than continue to use the old version)?
Just in case someone comes across this thread later, I can confirm that version 2.5.3 WW (BBC Mobile News WW) works great on the NT running CM 10.2, videos included
Newer versions after July - No Video on CM
On my Verizon S3, the BBC News app version 3.4.0.43 GNL does not show videos on CM12.1 (nightly 10/30/15) nor has it worked since version 2.5.5 WW. After that, they dramatically changed the app with new features and display capacities. Video has never worked since.
HOWEVER, it works on another ROM, AICP, which has some CM in it, though I don't know what else it's blended with. I wish I could distinguish the issue here because the newer ones are way more interesting than the older version , one of which I have saved via TiBu and restore when I get sick of not being able to watch videos.
It' just occured to me to take a logcat when I try next time.
EDIT: well, I didn't realize I was on a nook thread, but the issue might be the same.

Yeah, I actually prefer the older version. Just don't like a lot of options to wade through and not being able to get rid of stuff I don't want to see. I just recently got an LG Optimus Zone 2 to replace my much-loved Insignia Pilot MP3 player that finally died. I let the BBC app update from the market and it worked fine (running KitKat) but I didn't like it as I said, so I replaced it with the older version, which also works just fine.
