I have a problem with my proximity sensor (probably dust?) and I can't clean it. Now, every time I get a call on all roms I tried the screen shuts off (that is normal) but won't turn on (ie. if I have to press keys while talking or activate speaker)
The only way I have for now is flashing a very bright light on the sensor and it only works sometimes....
So my question is : is there and app, a dialer, an option, a way or whatever other trick to have the screen turned on while in a call?
Peek at this:

Supposed to be a free tmobile proximity sensor recalibrator here, but the page wouldn't load for me. Maybe it is available elsewhere.
Also, if your screen protector is covering it, maybe that is making a difference?
I couldn't find a way to disable the proximity sensor or change its sensitivity, however there might still be a way.
Good luck.

As we all know by now, "The HD2 includes a variety of sensors including a Proximity Sensor that is used to prevent false screen touches when the phone is picked up to answer or make a call. A Light Sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of the display..."
The subject matter of this thread is the Proximity Sensor, meaning, when you receive a call and put the phone to your ear, the screen supposed to turn off so you won't accidentally hang up or open other application by touching the screen with your face. The Proximity Sensor of my phone worked perfectly. However, couple of days ago the Proximity Sensor stopped functioning and I'm wonder what could have caused that. I'm picking up the phone, talk on the phone and the screen is fully lit. I remember that, one day, I calibrated the screen... Could that have been the cause?
Anyway, does anyone know how to turn the Proximity Sensor on or, if it is on, how to make it work properly?
Thank you.
Hello guys,
My proximity / light sensor is not behaving correctly for past few days. Now whenever i dial a call, the proximity sensor turns the LCD off and it does not turn it on until the call ends somehow. It seems to be that the sensor is unable to sense the incoming light. Also the little red LED of the sensor stays on for very long, even after the call.
Also, the screen's brightness does not change when i move from low light to high light areas (and vice versa).
I have jokersax's CM9 build 0.6.1 installed with the built in kernel. (Which is probably the CM9 kernel too).
I suspect the proximity sensor is faulty. And also that this is a hardware problem. Now the question I'd like to ask is does anyone know what parts do i need to replace in order to get it back working. What would I tell the repair part vendors to send me ?
Also, do you agree that this is a hardware problem??
OR do you think, it is the ROM may be or the way I've installed it??

If you have face unlock enabled then disable it and try it again.
Sent from my MB860 running Jokersax's CM9
Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the proximity sensor. It does not always dial when I raise the phone to my ear to make a call. It seems to only work occasionally. Any help is appreciated

Sorry if you're more technically inclined than this response credits you to be, but have you tried getting a can of compressed air and a microfiber cloth to clean out the top of your phone? Around the area where the sensor is?
On every phone I've had and seen people have this problem with, this has always been the solution.
Also the act of dialing out the phone call is not tied to the proximity sensor at all. That's all telephony. Unless you're talking about some kind of motion gesture, then that shouldn't matter.
There's a samsung ?motion? under settings
motion settings allow for quick dialing a contact on the screen by holding phone up to ear when they are displayed some combination of accelerometer, prox sensor, and contact on screen is supposed to dial.
Mine is stock, has the option enabled, but doesn't seem to autodial as expected or at all I guess.
Oddly, under AndroSensor app from play store, prox shows 3.1" or 0 but nothing else (almost binary) ... screen does turn off right away when I make a normal call and hold up to my ear.
Odd.
My gf broke her GSIII's screen but the touch and the lcd are OK, the problem is when she receives or make a call, the proximity doesnt work anymore because of the crack on the screen and everytime that the phone app starts the screen goes black and she cant use her phone until the other person hang up. Is there a way to deactivate the proximity sensor since it is useless now?
My device (a Samsung Galaxy pocket Plus) has no proximity sensor and therefore doesn't turn off the screen when I am talking. So I am searching for a way to turn off the sceen at the beginning of each call to avoid random input on the touchscreen.
I found a lot of similar questions in the forum, but I found none that applies to my situation. In most cases people have a crashed proximity sensor and use the app "proximity screen off" as workaround, but that app doesn't work if there is no sensor present.
Is there an app that turns screen off in the moment I or the other side accepts a call without the presence of a sensor? If not: Would it be a big deal to create one?
