So I recently got a nexus 5and I'm giving my old ZTE Skate to my dad. So I wiped all user data, formatted system, flashed a jenkins CM 10.2 rom (the 2nd or 3rd newest build as of posting this.I flashed a stripped gapps found here. And now whenever I start the phone it successfully boots but Setup Wizard crashes whenI tap on next on tzhe language select screen. I figured thet I used a bad gapps but I thought it would work, since it worked with an earlier cm 10.2 jenkins build. Sure I would just reflash but for some reason if I boot into cwm recovery (5.5.0.4, don't remember where I got it) from a turned off state (power+volume down) the buttons doesn't work in it. I always had to boot into it with the extended power options. But setup wizard crashes everytime I don't have access to the settings app so i can't enable advanced boot options. so I basicly can't do anything woth recovery. and I can't do anything with fastboot and adb either because i can't enable usb debugging
any help on how to restore it would be appreciated

I have a problem with one of my Lenovo A830 phones.
I bought it from Etotalk, so it came rooted, and with their custom version of the Lenovo Stock ROM and their custom version of CWM 5.5 installed.
I tried formatting my SD card and then doing a factory data reset from within the operating system. (I was intending to install MIUI V5 after rebooting into recovery).
However, on rebooting, the device is now caught in an infinite boot loop, and I am not able to boot into recovery mode (by holding down power and both volume keys). It loads the initial splash screen, then shows a few seconds of the Android character and some whirring cogs before rebooting.
I am able to boot into Factory mode (power and volume up) or Meta mode (power and volume down). Factory mode has a number of options, but they are all in Chinese characters, which I am unfortunately not able to read.
I did notice that my SD card seemed to be write protected when I tried to format it in my computer and to copy on the new ROM - I solved this by putting it in a different phone and reformatting it. I wonder whether the factory reset process has write protected something it shouldn't have?
Does anyone know how I might best proceed? I've been digging around on the forums, and tried a few things, but there's nothing which seems to provide a coherent solution for this problem.
I've got the latest Android SDK Tools, MTK Droid Tools 2.4.8, SP Flash Tool 3.1312, some additional ADB drivers (120827 v3.7) that I'm not sure how to install, the latest MIUI V5 ROM (3.8.16), and the latest stock Lenovo ROM (S118 from Need A ROM, just in case I need it).
Maybe different SP Flash Tools version?
I had trouble using SP Flash Tools v3.1312 with A830. Once I switched to v3.1304.0.119 I was able to flash both the original ROM and the custom MIUI one without serious issues. I'm unable to post the download link but google it.
One other thing is that when connecting the phone, it usually loads the something something Preloader driver, which is no good (even if it gives you Download OK). When attempting to flash either ROM, try pressing both the power and volume up buttons while connecting the phone (after pressing Download), only way it worked for me.
Good luck!
I managed to sort this out quite simply in the end!
On the Lenovo A830 (and presumably other Lenovo Android phones?), you enter recovery by pressing power and then pressing volume up / down together after a short pause. The short 1 - 2 second pause is important, because if you try and press them at the same time or in quick succession it doesn't seem to work.
I then installed MIUI V5 from the SD card followed by Google Apps after a reboot. In order to get MIUI to install, I had to remove the assert check at the top of the update script, because this seems to erroneously check for the A820 (even though there isn't currently a port for this device?). It's working excellently with two exceptions - I am unable to select the SD card as a storage device, and Google Play store is not searchable (it causes a Force Close).

Hi I had similar "reboot loop" problem this morning after a phone factory reset.
I have no idea how I solved that but the following was the steps I tried:
1. Install the MTK6589_PdaNET_ADB_VCOM_Drivers. Skip the USB connection during setup. Start the PdaNET after setup finished.
2. Insert battery inside the phone and connect the phone with the computer by USB
In my case, the phone reboot loop once, and the lenovo screen appeared in the second restart. The phone hanged. I unplugged the cable, took out the battery, insert the battery again and start the phone normally again and it is working now.
I recommend installing the recovery rom after you have fixed the phone.
Goodluck
Hey everyone. Sorry if this is redundant, but I have to ask. I rooted my device perfectly, setup all my apps and homescreen. Last app installed was Rom Toolbox PRO. After installing, I open it. It immediately freezes device and reboots. I can't get past Samsung boot logo. Tried volume down and power and get into download mode perfectly. Then I try volume up, and power to get to recovery to wipe cache, but it will not boot into recovery. Always goes back to Samsung boot screen. All I want to do is get my device booted and remove Rom Toolbox so I can be back to normal. Any ideas? I'm away from my computer due to being out of town. I just want it to work again!

I'm not 100% certain why this would happen, but if you made a NAND backup after you rooted you can restore to that. Otherwise do a factory wipe and restart from scratch. You can also try to wipe the apk for ROM ToolBox from your system if you are running on a recovery that allows you explore your app directory.
When i first installed MultiROM on Cyanogenmod, I would have to go through the bootloader to get anything but a black screen. From there, I could select Start, and then usually it would work. A pain, but it worked.
I just used MultiROM to install Android L preview and when it told me to restart, I got the same black screen I had gotten before. No biggie - I've been here before. When I went through the bootloader, I just went straight back to the black screen. I repeated the process a few times before I gave up.
I can still load into the MultiROM recovery menu, but the phone just wont show up in Android File Transfer or ADB.
If possible, I'd like to keep the pictures that are on the phone, but if not, it's fine. I can't flash a new ROM because the phone wont show up in ADB.
It seems that there is a factory reset on the MultiROM recovery menu - does this work like a regular factory reset where it would reset to a version of cyanogenmod?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
Stuck on Oneplus One logo while trying to access recovery
Hi,
First of all please forgive my english, it's not my native language
So, when i try to access recovery mode on my oneplus one, it gets stuck on oneplus logo
I rooted my phone some weeks ago and installed without troubles paranoid android. I wanted to go back
to CyanogenMod so I flashed it, but I forgot to flash gapps. Cyanogen is working fine, but it's kinda useless
without google package.
Problem is, I cannot access the recovery mode anymore, because it gets stuck on the oneplus logo. I tried
to unlock the phone and install twrp again but it has no notable effect. I also waited an hour, it won't pass
the logo.
I can boot on cyanogen and on fastboot, but recovery is what i need...
The cyanogen version a flashed is cm-13.0-20160107-NIGHTLY-bacon nightly. I performed a regular wipe
with twrp and flashed.
Thanks for reading, any help is greatly appreciated.
EDIT : I noticed odd things. The musics I've put before wiping and flashing cyanogen are still on my phone,
which means the wipe did not work ( right ? ). Also, I can't access anymore to the files of my phone while being
on Media Transfer Protocol, but I can see my images if I set Pictures transfer protocol ( USB configuration in developer
settings ).

It worked ! thanks a lot : ) !
Hello everyone,
I’m actually not an android developer but managed to maneuver myself in a quite tricky situation. I think I need some help from someone how has deep insights in the that topic.
Right now, I’ve got the problem that only TWRP would start if I press the power button of my Ulefone Armor 6. The Stock ROM won’t. My original goal was to restore pictures I deleted by using a recovery tool on my pc. For that reason, I tried to root the phone by using TWRP and Magisk. I performed the following steps:
- Unlocked the bootloader in the developer options and by using the command “fastboot oem unlock” on my pc.
- Installed TWRP 3.3.1 for my Phone by using the command “fastboot flash twrp.img”
- Rebooted the system in recovery mode. TWRP was installed and asking for a PW. Decryption didn’t work with the set PIN. I couldn’t find any files (installation file ) in the filesystem after clicking “Install”
- Restarted the phone in “normal mode”. The system was now in factory settings without performing anything like this on purpose. I couldn’t find any files like pictures. I thought: ****, I ****ed up! I made my situation even worse than before…
- Every time I booted the stock ROM, TWRP was gone afterwords. I could only open the stock recovery. For that reason, I installed TWRP a couple of times. When y restarted in recovery mode directly after installing TWRP it stayed.
- Then I removed the PIN in Android without any result. TWRP was still asking for a PW.
- I pressed Wipe and Format Data in TWRP. After that the PW request was gone.
- I installed Magisk V20.4 from my SD-Card by using the install button in TWRP. No error occurred.
- After rebooting, a pop up from TWRP appeared with something like: “corrupt data: you need to perform a factory reset” without any other options. So I did it.
- On the next normal reboot, no android appeared, but only TWRP by asking for a pw again.
- I pressed format data again. TWRP was not asking for the PW again.
- Now I did a backup with TWRP for the first time…
The current state is:
When I press the power button only TWRP starts. I can also use the fastboot mode. But I can not switch off the phone by pressing the power button or using the Power off command in TWRP. It will always restart.
Now my first goal is to restore a many files as I can by using any rooted ROM. Later I would like install the stock ROM again. In the process I would like not to brick my phone which is actually the one of my girlfriend… So please, what can I do?
Many thank for reading everything and for the help
If someone needs the logfile from TWRP, I can send it via PM I guess.
yo...
if your fone is like mine, and you cant take the battery out, you cant power off. you need to have the usb lead out of your machine in order to shut down, and that's in the os, if usb is plugged in, fone will reboot. By pressing power off switch, you only reset, because you are not in the os which has the turn off function. Hope this makes sense
