I was playing a game and had to pause it since I had to go somewhere so I pressed the power button to turn off the screen and put it in my pocket. 20 minutes later, I try to turn it on again but the screen won't turn on. I try holding the power button but it still won't work. I come home and try to charge it but when I plug it in, the charging battery icon doesn't show on screen. The charger does indeed work since the after 2 hours of charging, the back of the samsung player feels warm. The samsung player itself isn't damaged at all in the exterior.
Can someone please tell me what's wrong and/or how to possibly fix this?

Could you please add some information about which ROM is installed on your device?
You could search "battery" in the forum too.
I remember someone replaced his Player's motherboard (did some research, looks like it is @iJimaniac, for a Player 4.0)

I had that problem too, some days ago, so I contacted a friend of mine who is working at Samsung.
He said that's often a problem with the bootloader (Samsung SBL 1.0) which is used in the Galaxy Player line (except the 5.8), an often solution is:
1. Put the battery out of the device
2. Press the power button for 10 seconds
3. Reput the battery into your device - DON'T TURN THE DEVICE ON!
4. Charge your device (not via your PC), the original charger from Samsung is requested!
5. Charge it for 4 hours
6. Power it on while it is connected to the charger
I hope this will help you
More ideas?
I have the exact same problem as OP. Resurrector doesn't recognize the player. I tried the battery removal and waiting trick, but that didn't work either. (tried 3 times) Nothing has gotten this thing to respond at all except get hot. Do you have other suggestions? Thank you

The Galaxy tab usually can not be charged via USB ports due to too low voltage.
Try plugging your GT into the outlet and charging it.
(and yes no charging status lights are very annoying)
Had the same
I had the same problem about a week ago. We had storm and the power went out. My Tab somehow list voltage and went into deep sleep mode. So in the morning when I went to trun it on, it woulndt and I had to connect it to my PC to make it wake up.

Did you try to hold the power button longer then 10 seconds?
fixed (temporary??)
I was able to get it to work again...i visited the samsung website and it told me to charge it for one hour...and then unplug it and then hold the power for 15 seconds...but the same thing happened again after a couple hours of using...the same process works but i think i might send it in to samsung to fix
Hey, my GT10.1 is also behaving the same way. I am not sure what happened but now no matter which wall charger I use, it will not charge my GT10.1.
Even though it does not show the charging indication on the screen, I let it charge overnight. Now I try to turn it on with holding the power button down for like 30 seconds to 1 minute.. still no luck.
It seems like it has no battery and the charger would not charge.
What do I do now.. is there a way to force it into boot or bootloader or whatever?
Thanks!
Try pushing your thumb on the screen and holding power button for like 10-15 seconds. Happened twice to me and hasn't happened again.

I also have exactly the same problem. Have you got any solution? I tried all combinations. I heard this problem relates to the firmware???? Really hope it is not the hardware. Been stayed blank for 3 days now. HELP.......

Sigh, I guess the only solution is to send it to a samsung service center...
I got my UPS labels done, but before doing so, I would like to go back to Bestbuy (where I got my tablet) and see if I can just get a brand new replacement since I bought just about 2 months ago.

My SGS3 just using the stock ROM, rooted and use Titanium freezing some stock Samsung softwares. install couple of apps, no games.
today, my SGS3 notify there was 5% battery left, so I finish my job, plugin the charging cable, and make sure it been charging. then I start to watch some RMVB movies on my SDCARD (using vPlayer) with charging cable plugged in. after I watched 1 hours or so, screen freeze ...... all the hard buttons, soft touching buttons and screen are all no response. few minutes later, screen off, I pull out the battery and re fill in, SGS3 still quiet, I think it become a brick.
temperature during issue occur: normal, nothing special (pretty sure)
charging light when charging cable plugin: no sign, no light
connect to computer: no recognized (driver installed, and worked fine before that)
download mode: can't get in
10 secs or more power button pressing: no response.
is there any possible I can get it back alive? any suggest will help.

thanks for your reply Jarmezrocks
yes, it seems battery run out problem. after I do couple of things below, it has been shown the charging light, and my phone has been back!
I m not sure the order of how i did these, but I think one of these works.
pull out battery for 5 mins or longer..
push power button for a long time (tried both with battery and without it)
push volume up and down together as usb cable plugin in, then pull back in the battery. I try this couple of times.
using another stocked charger from my friend, to make sure that's not charger problem.
I do above as I ref the "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30415128#post30415128" this is very good guide to the bricked android phones to try.
now, my phone is back alive, with all the settings and data as well, thank god!

May I ask, what charger are you using to charge your phone?
I have a feeling that the wall chargers for S3s (especially LTE) and just plain crap!
If you can, see if you can borrow someones SGS2 or SGS1 charger for your phone. These look different they are not a USB cord plugged into a wall socket. they are a plain charger only with a box that has its own cord coming out of it.
Try plug it in and don't try turn it on at all. Leave it plugged in for a good hour or so and then come back, unplug it first (you must unplug it or the power button won't do ****! I think its a special fail safe embedded in the kernel so the device doesn't get a double shot 1 from the batter and one from the DC charger?) and then push the power button. Hold it in a few seconds, see if the device powers on?

it has been done by some tricks, not sure which is effect, but it has been unbricked. I put details on the OP. thank you.
Had and still have an issue today. While driving earlier yesterday, I was listening to music in my car with phone connected on headphone jack. It made a buzzing noise( that came through car audio) , I disconnected and removed battery. I replaced battery and phone will not turn back on at all, will only show both Samsung logo's then go black screen. The phone will only power up for a total of 7 seconds from initial power up vibration on any combination of buttons,or even using a JIG
which went right into download mode.
- If I plug into power source , phone will just vibrate.
- I removed battery and replace, both Samsung logo's will appear then turn off.
- If I hold volume down + power button and place battery in, it will go into download mode. In this mode I can hit volume down to restart but it will just stay on black screen. Also if I hold these buttons down and do nothing the screen will just go black after a few seconds.
- I can also put into download mode to hook up to ODIN using same method and pressing volume up, but will say downloading then shut off.
- I've tried holding down volume up+down and power and it will not go into recovery.
- Odin with recognize it for a second (say device plugged in) and start to download files then it will say device unplugged after a few seconds
I've been looking at unbricking and unrooting threads with no luck. Any help is appreciated.
I don't know about the buzzing sound, but the rest sounds like a dead battery. Are you sure it's charged or that your charger didn't die on you? I don't believe phones brick after the flash is up and running.

Yes I'm 1000% percent sure its not a dead battery and even had it at AT&T warranty center this morning having them look at it. I was trying my luck even though its out of warranty. This issue is like none I've heard, because of the fact that phone actually powers up and I can get into download mode within those 7 seconds, but will shut off after. I've timed it till it powers off.

Am having this same issue with my girlfriends phone just as of a couple hours ago. It's completely stock and just recently received an OTA update a few days ago, she showed me bragging how she can watch videos and do other things at the same time now knowing how much I want a Note lol, she's had zero issues with it other than the battery getting very hot while charging a week or so ago and seems to be very slightly bulging now that I've looked at it. Out of nowhere today as we're walking through a parking lot and she's carrying it in her hand, not even using it, she says something is wrong with her phone and hands it to me with it vibrating every couple of seconds and not reacting to any buttons. I take the battery out and when we get inside put it back in and without even pressing anything it goes to the Samsung logo, black, animated Samsung logo, then turns off and goes back to vibrating every couple seconds. I look up the button combination for recovery and download mode and all that, I try recovery and it does the same vibrate every couple of seconds but never goes to recovery, and if I take the battery out, hold down volume down, then put the battery in it comes up with the warning about installing ROMs and all that, weather I press volume down or do nothing it stays at that screen for maybe five seconds then turns off and the only way I can get to the download mode is to take the battery out then press volume down. I have the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G and the batteries aren't the same but are very similar, mine is just shorter and 1500mAh, hers is taller and 2500mAh. So for the heck of it I put hers in my phone and hold it enough to where it connects and turn on my phone without issue, it boots up and shows 70% on the battery, I now have it plugged in and charging the battery at the moment with no issues. I put my battery in her phone and held it till it connects and it does the same Samsung logo, goes black, Samsung animated logo, then turns off BUT no vibrating anymore. If I press ANY button though as long as it's being held it vibrates every couple of seconds and if I hold volume down while I connect the battery it goes to Download mode but can't do anything and it turns off after about five seconds same as before, still no recovery access either. Heard that there is a power button issue with this phone and for the heck of it I've wiggled and pressed the power button with no charger or battery connected for around half an hour just to see if I can make it better, but no luck.
Hope to hear a solution to this. I would take the back cover off and clean the power button but I'm not sure if that would void the AT&T insurance, not going to try till I know I can get away with it without them knowing because if I can't fix it it's getting sent off for repairs.
EDIT: And sort of following captemo's suggestion I took a metal box, laid a hoodie over it for a bit of padding, then moderately bounced the phone on its power button side (without letting the power button be pressed/pushed, by letting it hang over the edge of the box) for a minute or so as if thinking the power button was stuck pushed in and I was trying to knock it back out, then put its battery back in and what do you know it turns on fine now. Weirdest way I've ever had to fix a phone, but hey it works now so the girlfriend will be happy.

Sort of is about right, glad you got it going. Many will complain about the button still clicking even though button is actually stuck. Many have cited some very simple sounding instructions for cleaning power button contacts with minimal deconstruction of phone. Using swab and alcohol. Run a search in q&a, sure you will get something.

Hi All,
I was out a couple of days back and my battery died. No trouble, come back home and charge it up. Worth noting that in recent months battery performance has been poor with a full charge only lasting about 8hours or so. I put this down to a new ROM I flashed as well as natural deterioration (18 month old S3).
Plug into the wall, red charging LED comes on, but the battery splash screen does not. Tried another charger...same. Thinking nothing of it I go to bed and wake up next morning to be greeted by a green charging LED. However, still no battery splash screen. I try to boot...it doesn't. When I "power on" the bottom LED buttons do light up white and go off after a few seconds. When I press the hold button again, they also come on for a few seconds. If i press the hold button while the button LEDs are on, they go off.
This makes me think the screen has broken as both the hold button and the charging LED is doing what it would do...but without any screen activity. However, it was not dropped or put under any pressure in any way. I have opened it up and also made sure the ribbon is undamaged and connected properly. I have tried calling the phone to no avail. It also does not vibrate or make any noises. Perhaps the battery doesn't have enough juice? Its as if its on the battery splash screen, I just cant see it.
I should mention the screen is infact cracked from an incident about 6-8 months ago. It was however, fully functional. Presumably, this will unfortunately stop me from sending it in. It was also using a flashed rom (CM11) and a flashed kernal (Boeffla).
I used a multimeter and measured 3.96v across the battery so that's fine. I can't test the current as I cant break into the S3 circuit and I dont have a resistor on hand to put some load on it.
Next steps?

Try to put it in odin mode (power+vol down+home then press vol up to agree that you are now in odin mode). You should see it in odin.
If you dont see it, your battery or energy system of your phone is broken. Otherwise your screen is probably broken?.

I've managed to get it into download mode and too show up in odin. I can also get it to show the files in Windows if i wait after holding the power button.
This all indicates it is in fact booting up and the screen is broken...
...BUT...no sound...no vibration...and no calls received
Its as if its only half on. Beginning to suspect a catastophic motherboard failure. Is it possible the battery is at fault? Its as if a whole power rail providing for the phone receiver, loudspeaker, vibrator and screen has gone.

Can you try this?
https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
and let it ring?
Yesterday somehow my S7+ completely discharged and I am unable to recharge it. I have left it on the stock charger for 12 hours with no result.
Pressing the power button and volume up button for two minutes results in nothing.
What else can I try to revivie my S7+?
Microburst charges.
This has happened to me as well. What works for me is quickly plugging and unplugging the charger. After about 10 minutes of doing this, try powering it up while plugged in. It may or may not start. If it does, turn the screen off immediately and dont touch it. If it doesnt turn on, keep trying.
This did not work either. I sent it to Samsung for repair today.
