[Q] Help me install costume ROM - AT&T LG Optimus G

So A few days ago tried to install costume ROM on my LG Optimus G. And guess what I bricked it. Now it I do it one more time I am left with on phone. So now I came up with what I am going to do. Please if someone did this already warn me about any error that might occur and how to fix them. Mainly how to unlock the bootloader
1) Download app freeGee
2)install clockworkrecovery
2.1) try to boot into the phone if Fails try to flash LGNPST teeny beans.
2.2) cry and post on the forum for help( I know there is an other way but I hard brick it last time using that method )
3)download and save to SD card the PAC man mod (If there is a better one please tell me )
4)Erase the Internal Storage
5)Erase the cache
5) Flash the new ROM
6) Flash GApps
7) I hope I am done

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946
That's the method I used from stock software. I used the mako method to unlock boot loader via freegee app. Also I installed twrp instead of cwm.
Sent from my Optimus G using xda app-developers app

Simple an easy solution is :
1.Connect phone is download mode.
2.Load necessary files and drivers , prior to connecting.
3.Flash the AtlBins/TeenyBins on your phone.
4.Let it complete.
5.It'll either stuck in a bootloop with AT&T logo , or will Go straight to Recovery which was installed as an additional benefit of TeenyBins. If OriginalBins don't work then tr AltBins. Mine worked with AtlBins.
6.Goto recovery and wipe out everything : /System , /Data , /Cache. ( as per your requirements.)
7.Now place the Custom rom on your SDCard along with SUBinary and recommended GApps package.
8.Flash them in queue.
9.Reboot. ( Wipe cache/dalvik if necessary ).
Pretty easy.
THis should usually work.

[Q] Flashing Problems

Hi
I have just Rooted my Samsung GS2 everything was going OK. Then through ROM Manager Premium I tried to Install Cyanogen Mod 7.10 Stable but it keeps failing .
Has anyone any helpful Tips . I am a Newbie. Is Rom Manager not suitable for Samsung GS2 . Thanks in anticipation .
Its stated in the Q&A thread,
atinm said:
Q: How do I install this?
A:
Latest version: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2 (for when nightlies are working normally)
Check the md5sum if you want to be sure that the download worked (different OSes have different programs that do md5, on ubuntu it is md5sum that you run against the zip you download and compare to the md5sum number shown on the download website). ROMManager does this automatically for ROMs you download via ROMManager.
- First time flashing CM 7 to your Galaxy S2 (or coming from another ROM)?
Only for the International version of the Galaxy S2, US versions like the AT&T have their own device specific builds.
Note: sometimes you need to flash twice back to back without a reboot in the middle. The install should take a little time, if it happens very quickly, flash again.
Install via ClockworkMod (do not use ROMManager for initial install):
Make sure you're running a rooted device.
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693)
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) - do it for real.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Do not reboot! We mean it - do nothing except choose zip and continue next step (if you come back to us with permission issues in install, we will know you did not read the directions and will call you an idiot). If it just plain hangs, reboot directly back into ClockworkMod recovery and continue at the next step.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery, again (due to a bug in the install).
Reboot
Install the Google Addon through ROMManager which is easiest, but you can
download the gapps.zip and install via ClockworkMod recovery instead.

I had this same issue before, I had to go back to an older CWM version. I read somewhere that 5.8.4.8 doesn't support installing a zip from sd card.I will look to see what version is the latest that does support this, and if possible upload it for you!!
Agreed...
revert to older CWM versions, or use TWRP......g
Yeah. I have 5.0.2.7 I believe. Works great. P.s. great choice of ROMs!! Also check out the jelly beer or eclipse ROM!

[HELP] Attempted installing paranoid, resulted in always booting to CWM instead.

I tried following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580070
"INSTRUCTIONS" part:
* RECOVERY: FACTORY RESET IF YOU WERE USING ANOTHER ROM!
* RECOVERY: Install Rom: Download
* RECOVERY: Install Gapps, ALWAYS-EVEN FOR UPDATES: Download (find the latest one that carries the "jb" tag)
* RECOVERY: Wipe Cache Partition
* RECOVERY: Wipe Dalvik Cache
* Reboot and enjoy

did all the above, never forgot any of the 3 wipes/resets that were necessary.
used this rom file:
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/i9100g
(latest one)
for my Galaxy Samsung S II GT-i9100g.
I had CWM and also had a rooted android 2.3.
first boot it showed me the normal samsung boot screen, for 45 minutes....
so I restarted and the phone gave me the same behaviour..
so I removed the battery to turn off the phone, and attempted to reinstall the whole thing, going through this process again from scratch
not forgetting any of the wipes etc...
now every time I boot it, it leads me to CWM instead of the normal boot screen and the expected paranoid rom eventually...
I followed this path because CM 10 failed me because upgrading from 2.3 to 4.x requires going through something that is called "stock" or as I think it actually is - google's /manufacturer's original firmware/rom production line thingy
and after that it needs me to re-enable root on that stock rom all over again. And only then I may attempt to install CM10...
so I picked paranoid instead, because in it's instructions is showed me no such constraint. heck it can't give me that constraint because there is no "stock" of android 3.x for smartphones
but then this issue happened... so I need your help.
I found similar search results but couldn't figure out their solutions or how whatever triggered that same problem (which isn't mentioned in those threads) is related to what I did to my phone... (so that I will not repeat the same mistake)
your help is much appreciated as I need it so so much!
Huh?
Just flash a stock ROM, get back on your feet and go CM or paranoid.

by "flash"ing you mean the option "install from a zip file" in CWM in recovery mod?
if I have some rom, the only way for me to install another would always be by going through that middle step of also installing a 'stock' rom as well?
there is no way around it?
installing a 'stock' rom, wouldn't it make me loose my root I have on the phone and force me to root it all over again before I can continue install anything at all?
thats the reason I wanted to try out the paranoid way of doing this instead of the CM10, because I have no interest in rooting my already rooted phone and I hoped that paranoid does not need me to go to stock first....
Couple of things:
Stock: why, when in trouble, we suggest stock?
Stock is the original state of the phone.
Samsung write it for our device to work flawless, so, by flashing stock we can check if our device is fully functional.
Imagine you flash a custom ROM and you lose IMEI, you go "wtf?" right?
In order to check if your EFS folder is f&#cked up, you flash stock and check if your IMEI is still there.
We can always use stock to take a long breath "phew, we're fine" after a f*&k up.
You can flash stock via CWM (zip file), Odin (tar file, md5) and mobile Odin (tar, zip and md5).
CWM: custom recovery, you can get it by flashing a custom kernel or by flashing it via stock Recovery (generally comes with BusyBox and SuperUser app, which gives you Root).
Odin: Just download any version and follow directions.
Mobile Odin: Well, this is a hell of an app, you need Root to run it.
It does all that Odin does, plus it roots your ROM (only stock ROMs) while it's flashing it, all by itself. Costs 5 bucks, but it's damned worthwhile.
Wanna know the best scenario?
You get M.O Pro, you get a nandroid back up online app, you get CWM zip files (sitting on your SD).
With that line up, you can flash whatecer the hell you want and you will ALWAYS have root.

some questions
ONE QUICK IMPORTANT QUESTION BEFORE THE REST:
If I use mobile odin, will I be able to use it to install stock rom and also root it at the same time?
SECOND IMPORTANT QUESTION:
you said I could flash whatever I want and still have root, but my problem was not 'not having root', it was not having the flash process complete successfully... how do I attack that?
THIRD IMPORTANT... info... :
My "BUILD" version is "GINGERBREAD.XXKL5", isn't that a 'stock' one?
If you don't have a lot of time,
then the rest of this post is not as important as the 2 questions above...

the saddest part is that I couldn't figure out most of what you just said
what is 'nandroid'? 'flashing'? do you mean like dd in linux? copying to the entire flash storage device?
'IMEI'? huh..? O_O
at the moment I was able to 'get back on my feet', I restored everything back to normal with manual copying of important parts of the CWM corrupted backup from this week, and old stuff for a CWM backup made few months ago.
now that I am at a 'normal' state.. I want to install paranoid or CM10 on my GT-I9100g.
which one of those 2 does not force me going through installing stock?
I have this fear of installing stock that it will take away my root and that I will have to use adb from command line to re-enable root afterwards, which I have bad experience with.
I need to know a few things before I attempt to install stock via CWM,
will installing stock disable my root? will installing stock disable my ability to load recovery boot menu CWM?
is 'root' an attribute or state that belongs to the running rom itself after boot has been completed and to that only?
or does it also belong to the state the device is at while in the recovery boot menu CWM ?
I tried messing around with ADB in the past to see if I could root devices via that way but it wasn't very successful so thats why I'm afraid of having to attempt it again.
bumpitybump
even though a year later, I would still love some replies
resurrecting my motivation to do this once again.
copy paste from my other post;
before flashing, you will need these;
-stock rom (get it from Sammobile, sign in and select your country and phone model)
-blazing kernel for recovery (search in XDA)
-custom rom (CM, PA, Supernexus...your choice)
-backup your data
-GApps (get the latest one)
-you must know what are you doing and dont flame/blame other member if something wrong
how to flash;
-make sure you are on latest stock rom (mine is JellyBean 4.1.2), if not like the OP, flash the latest stock rom using Odin;
*reboot your phone in Download Mode
*open Odin and in PDA option select your stock rom and then Start
*if done it will display Done and disconnect your phone, it will boot up
*if bootloop, reboot into Recovery Mode, and then wipe data and cache, and then reboot normally
-after updating your phone to latest stock rom, copy your custom rom, GApps, and Blazing kernel into external SD card, then reboot into Recovery Mode
-choose "apply update from external storage" and choose Blazing kernel, wait for it to finish update
-reboot normally, and then reboot back to Recovery Mode. this time you will notice that your recovery is different from the previous one
-select install zip > choose from external storage/sdcard 1 > and then choose your custom rom. then wait for it to finish update
-repeat the above step to install GApps, and after that reboot normally
-if bootloop, reboot back to Recovery Mode and then wipe data, cache and dalvik and then reboot
-done, now you are running on custom rom

[Q] Downgrade Asus Padfone 2 Kitkat 4.4.2 to 4.1.1 Jellybean?

I have an Asus Padfone 2 A68 JP version upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 via asus.com :highfive:
I am unhappy with the upgrade :crying: to my personal experience, the ZenUI interface is not very appealing
1st, it is not user friendly looking for apps, customizing desktop apps and widgets are not that special :fingers-crossed:
2nd, battery drains a lot faster that it used to be
3rd, wifi is problematic, can't make my phone connect to Google Play Store when phone is connected to my laptop, it says no internet when in fact it is :crying:
Can anyone please advise how can a Padfone 2 upgraded to Kitkat be downgraded? I tried the normal way, copying the JP_PadFone2-user-10_4_17_7-UpdateLauncher.zip file on to sd folder Asus\Update, phone notification appears saying there is an update available, but installation fails, obviously because of newer system and read-only files existing.
My Padfone 2 Kitkat is towel-rooted. I only use stock recovery, no CWM or TWRP, not yet. I will try to be cautious this time  I just got back my A66 Padfone 1 from Taiwan for service repair, because it was bricked while I was installing CWM/TWRP.
Any expert advise is highly appreciated. Thanks
you still having a issue ?
try that method
Download original firmware asus webiste. (android 4.1)
unzip it once .
file called 10.............ota.user.zip (at least with ppadfone infinity)
put it on your sd card
if you done disconnect from computer
then it should be a triangle in notification bar upgrade found or something like that if not restart phone and then it should be there.
press ok and wait phone to upgrade/dowgrade.
I hope it wortks.
I have a WW ROM but basically facing the same problem. Still looking for help...
I've spent 2 days researching and trying stuff out until today. I have finally downgraded my Padfone 2 from Android 4.4.2 (KOT49H.WW_PadFone-11.8.4.12-20140804 te) to Android 4.1.1 (GuerillaROM-v1.6_OFFICIAL912014).
GuerillaROM looks just like PF2's stock 4.1.1 and it's awesome for me because 4.4.2 was... aesthetically unappealing.
Anyhow, this is my story, don't know if it will work for you, but it worked for me.
- in step 2 I accidentally erased my files, so... back your files up on a PC.
Don't hold me responsible for anything that happens to your phone, do stuff on your own risk. Guys who do this stuff (not me) have made these procedures as simple as they could, so that the end users (we) could **** our phones up as little as possible. These procedures have minimal risk, but the risk is still there.
1. UnLock (unlock Bootloader)
- got from Asus.com (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=PadFone+2&p=29&s=1)
(OS: Android --> Utilities --> "Unlock Device App: Unlock boot loader")
- worked now. Didn't work a year ago, don't know why
2. Followed directions from theunlockr.com (http://theunlockr.com/2013/06/09/how-to-root-the-asus-padfone-2/)
- has done me a factory reset (all data wiped) on 4.4.2 + installed SU
- Root Checker: Failed
- Root Checker is an app from Play Store
- stopped at step III 8 because Root Checker didn't verify
- don't know if matters, but I installed
drivers for bootloader from Asus.com (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=PadFone+2&p=29&s=1)
OS: Other --> USB
2a. I also downloaded adb (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
but turns out I didn't need it.
3. went to hexamob.com, found "Android Rooting Method: Towelroot"
- followed that
4. Made it ra1n b^.^d
5. Root Checker: Pass
6. Installed TWRP Manager
- from Play Store
7. Installed TWRP recovery 2.6.3.0
- the later ones didn't work
- the earlier ones messed with SU
- try for yourself
8. Got SuperSU (#) from Play Store
9. Updated it for TWRP/CWM
- (reboot - running open recovery script)
10. Installed GuerillaMOD
- followed from xda
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268613
11. White ASUS logo freeze (like xda said it could)
12. After 2 or 3 forced reboots
magically unfroze after awhile (~2mins)
- don't ask me how or why
- don't count on it magically unfreezing (there's a solution for that freeze on that thread (in the FAQ))

Hi! Sorry for my English, Russian I am writing to you through Google translator)))
problem as follows:
It was a piercing VVE 442? after about half a year longer to work on their own touch-sensitive keys below the screen (back, home, and applications).
to reset to the factory did not help, did hard reset did not help,
He rolled to vve411. everything worked, I decided to put back the WWE 442, okay flashed, but the buttons again have earned, had to revert to 411. 442 would be desirable but for some reason he is not working or rather not work touch-sensitive buttons, and tried to put other regions but to no avail. help vchem washes be the problem?
