I'm trying to get unlock codes for a pair of HTC Titans, and to start the process you need to obtain the IMEI code. Unfortunately, I don't have AT&T simcards, only T-mobile simcards. Dialer won't let me dial *#06# to get the IMEI code because of this, saying I can only make emergency calls.
Is the IMEI found in the About screen or from under the battery not valid for unlocking the phones? Any recommendations regarding how to get past this roadblock?
There is only one IMEI number per phone. It could be printed on your box, show up in about screen and under the battery, all the same number.
In airplane mode *#06# brings up the IMEI just fine

On the box, area where your S/N is on the phone (where the battery is placed), and by dialing *#06# ....
I thought there would only be one IMEI number, and that it should be the same. It just seemed strange that every instruction for buying unlock codes asked for *#06#.

That one is the most trustworthy number if you don't know the full history of the phone. For mine, it was brand new in box and sealed so I was comfortable using the IMEI off the box.

Normally changing IMEI is a criminal violation in most of the countries. And normally IMEI is contained in the inaccessible first 256 kb of flash data (part of the phones) or even in separate chip.

Not usually or on its own, but an unscrupulous seller can change the IMEI, or give you a phone with a different IMEI and a box with a different IMEI.
*#06# works perfect with and without airplane mode on tablet 7" dual sims.

find iphone with imei
The guys from iphonetrace group on facebook can find stolen/lost iphones using IMEI
Dears,
I lost my phone yesterday, i'm about to issue a request to track the device i have the box with all the serial numbers .. etc but i was having a fake IMEI problem on my phone and did fix it my bad IMEI was 004999010640000 , will they be able to track it with the original IMEI which printed on the phone box?
Thx
Nope. If the phone is switched on, it will communicate with the network/be identified on the network by the IMEI it currently has (the generic one).
Given 1/10000 stolen mobile phones are recovered (in Australia at least), I'd rack that one up to experience, unfortunately.
I'm having problem with connecting my phone new phone (nexus 5 from some shop in China) to 3G. only the 2G is working.
I tried almost anything but still couldn't find the problem that cause it.
I suspect that my IMEI was repaired (I have 2 different IMEI numbers in the back of the case and inside of the back case)
I found that after repairing the IMEI with Octoplus they say that "3G network will become unavailable", How can I check that this is really the problem? And does it can be repaired?
Thank you!
Hi.
I have another problem with my Samsung galaxy s3
The back of the battery has an IMEI of ******03*******
While the *#06# says a different IMEI, which is ******05*******
Which one is real?
The second one is that currently assigned to your hardware, have you had a motherboard change.
Hello to forum and sorry for my English.
I recently bought an S9 Plus Dual Sim. The phone has a strange problem. It can only recognize the one of 2 sim cards ( sim number 1) and has signal but whenever i am going to make a call, gives me the error :“Not registered on network”.
The sim card in the second place of sim tray, is not reading by phone.
The phone has only one IMEI in the settings and when i dial the code *#06#.
The back cover of the phone has 2 IMEI and the one is the same as this i can read in the settings.
I installed the confirmation firmware and i dial up again the *#06# with the same results.
I made a call to official Samsung and the phone is clean and unlocked.
I am so comfused.
Can anyone expain me what is the problem ?
It's very strange... But you can try to send it to warranty service and hope that they will substitute it
