Hi all,
I need help badly. I recently bought a Samsung galaxy s4, rooted it on the mj7 build, there was an ota mk2 I did. After I was done updating root was broken. I am sending the phone back and needed to remove root and the custom boot logo. I did a factory reset on the device, I downloaded Odin and tried numerous m5 files to flash back to stock. It keeps failing. Now the phone won't boot normally. Someone please help

If you're going to return the phone, flash the emergency recovery MJ7 ROM in the Android Development thread.
Hopefully you didn't trip the Knox Warranty Void flag with your serial flashing.

Hi, thanks for replying. I was able to successfully restore to mk2, I don't see the boot screen that says Samsung custom, and I don't see supersu either. I don't know what knox is, and how would I check to see if something happened to that?

Boot your phone into bootloader mode and read the REALLY TINY text. One line will read "Knox Warranty Void" and either 0x0 (warranty OK) or 0x1 (warranty void).
Get into bootloader mode by powering off, then holding volume down, home, then power. Release when the phone vibrates.

Hey guys..I rooted my sii using CF-root...so my questions are...how to get rid of the yellow triangle and binary count?(are these the only things samsung uses to check if the device is rooted or not..?)if yes i'd use a jig or else what to do..??
i want my phone to be rooted...but also need my warranty...!!
android version:-2.3.3
baseband version:-I9100XXKH3
kERNEL VERSION:[email protected] #2
Build number:-GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
if you want to get rid of binary count, only way is to use the usb jig, though I've heard there's a 2nd counter embedded.
however I've never had any problems with my warranty even after rooting, and have sent in my phone 3 times for various reasons.
just be sure NOT to send it in with a custom rom installed
from what i heard.. all u need to do is unroot ur phone and flash back secure kernel and delete all root apps and voila u get ur warranty back
and btw the yellow triangle is from unsecured kernel that u used to flash into sgs2 to get it rooted u can get rid of that without unrooting ur sgs2 by simply flashing back secure kernel
NO way to get back your warranty.

No, as you've unlocked your bootloader, it'll always show RELOCKED even if you revert to the stock ROM. You can't factory lock the bootloader, i.e., you can't get the warranty back till you don't meet a person who's a noob.
Why revive a 7 mth old thread
It's not possible to have both root and warranty on your phone at the same time.
If there's something wrong in your phone and you can't fix it yourself, you only need to unroot it (if you have a CF-root you only need to flash your stock firmware back and use USB Jig (OR before unrooting using TriangleAway app) to clear your flash counter) and take it to the shop where you bought the phone.

is there no way to get my cell completely locked and unrooted ie. saying locked on the boot loader screen
OK so here is the story and I was debating if this is the right place to post but I do feel it is more on the developing side. I originally rooted and unlocked my bootloader following Casuals method and everything was just fine. I had an option to sell the phone in preparation for buying the GS4 so I used the return to stock method posted in the forums to return my device completely to stock. After doing so everything was also fine. I received an update to LL4 and that went OK straight from Verizon but last night when the VRAMC3 update was pushed to my phone it soft bricked it. It ultimately was stock on the splash screen stating Samsung Note 2. After trying to ODIN back to stock with multiple FAILS I was able to get it back to the Root66 MR Robinson by using the pit file but every time I try to update and or root/unlock bootloader it soft bricks again. I am assuming that the update that was pushed updated my bootloader and as of now I am stuck till there is a new bootloader Jailbreak. If not I would love some instruction on how to get my phone rooted with an unlocked bootloader or a flashable ODIN file that will at least get me to the latest VRAMC3 fully stock ROM. Thank you for the HELP.
want relocked BL running newest stock via odin flash without tripping flash counter
Edit; I never did manage to relock the bootloader. However, Verizon still accepted the device since it appeared close enough to stock. I used the alternative restore and triangle away to bring it 95 percent to stock. So I can safely say from my experience that if this is your problem you will probably be fine. It's been a few months and still no new charges on my bill for out of warranty device but YMMV

I am in a similar situation. I am sending the device back for warranty service since the screen must have burnt out or something. The digitizer catches a touch but there is no light emanating from the screen and since the device was purchased March 28th it is completely under warranty. As it is obvious the root modifications did not cause the screen issue, I do not wish to get a new device via insurance claim and so I am getting another sent.
but my issue is after managing to run triangle away via screencast/adb, how the hell does one relock the device if it's been upgraded to vramc3? from what I have searched, and trust me I have been searching the past two days, which led me here and a few other threads btw, it appears that once the device is on vramc3 it cannot odin back to anything else or it will fail on sboot.bin. And I am not finding any stock odin packages for vramc3, so how the hell does a person take this bad boy back to stock and relock the bootloader for sending to vzw for service? not only that but I can no longer activate recovery since I wouldnt have access to screencast and there is absolutely no way I am sending this device back with even the most minute amount of data in tact so it can be sold to the highest bidder or handed over via an illegal court order for mass search and seizure. anybody have experience with this? i am at the point where i think the only thing I can do is flash the alternate restore for vral but wouldnt that trip my flash counter, and then when they check the device it would probably OTA and softbrick, which I do not want them to have to deal with.
Today I was trying to root my Galaxy Note 2 SCH-I605 to install a custom rom. After I got root access on my device I got overly excited to install my rom, I first downloaded rom manager to install CWM Recovery, I then go to reboot and I get this message,
"System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help."
Instantly I realized I forgot to unlock the bootloader.
Can anyone help me to get my phone back into working order? I've already tried going through odin and installing the stock rom. I think it didn't work because it wasn't the rom that made this message come up but instead it was clockwork mod recovery. I've been looking around online for about 4 hours now with no success. Any help is appreciated
Also I'm sorry if this post is out of place.

? is are you on the latest MJ9 firmware? If you accepted the OTA and you are on MJ9 there is no unlocking methods as of yet.. If you were on 4.1.2 you need to boot into Download Mode (Volume Down+Home+Power) and then flash RAMC3 with the pit file (RAMC3 goes in PDA slot.. Pit goes in pit slot) After this goes through then you need to re root and unlock your phone.. Post here if you have any issues..:good:

Thanks for your reply, originally I was on 4.3, I somehow managed to downgrade to 4.1.2, I should've stopped there because after that I immediately tried to unlock the boot loader and ended up bricking it 5 minutes after resolving the issue in this post. after much trouble and time I was able to get it working again by flashing stock MJ9 again. Still not rooted and unlocked but it's working.
You can root but can't unlock the bootloader. Downgrading to 4.1.2 doesn't replace the bootloader.

Thanks for this message I'll keep my eyes open for whenever the bootloader can be unlocked. :good:
My mega installed cwm and rooted fine without a problem. I got it unlocked though. it is a carrier version but the guy unlocked it before selling to me.
I try doing the same to my friend's mega who's a locked rogers carrier version and not only did cwm recovery refuse to install, root would not work, and i kept getting some yellow message at the top right called "warranty bit: kernel"
I tried flashing the stock rom via odin and did a full factory reset. wifi will not switch on..it just stays in the off position.
does this have something to do with knox? How come my mega rooted no problem and i never had these problems with my mega yet my friend's mega is basically locked out? Do I need to unlock his phone before rooting? Is this because the bootloader is locked due to the fact that it's a locked phone?
Help please
Thanks.
EDIT
I was able to flash cwm philz touch version and rooted successfully. I still get the Warranty Bit Kernel message at the top and the phone boots a lot slower than it should I also downloaded wifi fixer and it states my wifi is "stuck".

It's the same sgh-i527. I figured out the problem. Newer Megas plus all future Samsung devices will come with with a permanent knox bootloader. Once the knox kernel goes 0x01, not only is your warranty void but it ****s your stock Rom up.
My first mega was a older version without the knox crap on it. Solution is to go custom Rom, I installed pacrom on my friends mega and all is working again.
We must boycott Samsung as they are taking the apple route.

I had my Verizon Galaxy S4 rooted. I am looking to turn my phone in today for the Note 3. I went into SU and checked I wanted to unroot my phone. My phone is unrooted now, but I can't get the Custom Lock that appears when you first boot the phone. I can't upgrade the phone either. I did a hard reset and that didn't work. I tried everything, and I can't get rid of that Custom Lock that appears, and I am afraid that I won't be able to turn my phone it. Can anyone help me?
Thank you,

You need to Odin it back to stock. I'll get you the link

To remove the "Custom" flag, you've got to return the phone to stock. If you haven't done anything but rooted it, then run the "unroot" script in the Saferoot thread (which means you'll need to re-root, unfortunately). After a reboot, the custom flag will reset.
However, many people have reported that having Custom hasn't caused them to have warranty claims denied.
