Hi Leo Users,
I am considering buying this phone but I need to see how well it handles in android.
Can someone post a video using one of the most recent and more working roms? I want to get an idea of how well it goes.
1. What is currently not supported on the leo?
2. Does all of its ram get ported in android or does it use only a smaller part?
3. What about the camera? Is the camera app using the camera to it's full potential?
4. Video playback? Does it play hd?
5. Is a nand installation of android possible?
Thank you!

1. For each Android distro out there it says in its own topic what's working and what it is not. I know it can't record video in HD 720p.
2. As far as I know, Android uses all available RAM.
3. There are still some issues with the camera, mostly because improvements are still made to native Android phones. I doubt you will use the camera like that. I don't consider it a low point.
4. Video playback is really good and it also plays HD. I tried with some Youtube HD videos and they were ok. Haven't tried with a computer encoded fully fledged HD. I know that there are video players on Android Market that can play all Xvid encoded videos out of the box. Just copy it on the SD card and you are set.
5. At this moment, NAND installation is not possible. There were some major improvements done and I think it will be possible to be functional at some point.
6. I would add the fact that HD2 can run a lot of Android flavors because it can launch them from within WinMobile. This is something you can never achieve with a native Android phone.
7. Battery drainage is still heavy. Every day something new is discovered on how to improve battery life.
I see you own a Wildfire. HD2 is a lot better that it. I read it on a Romanian tech blog, an editor made a comparison between native Android phones and HD2.
I wanted to play YouTube videos on my A7HT v1 and found that version 1.3 works. But the videos do not play in fullscreen.some are small while others are large. .I also tried using Skyfire browser but the video quality is bad in it.
Then i switched to 2.1 beta 6 ROM(you can find it at archosfans forums) and noticed that the YouTube app in it displays videos in fullscreen but the videos cannot play on any ROM higher than 1.5.
Now i have decided to decompile the 2.1 apk, copy the properties that tell it to play in fullscreen and paste those into the 1.5 apk.So can any one guide me on this.
Thanks
Make sure that your browsers are up to date. Im not much of a youtube user but I think that they just started using HTML5 for the videos as opposed to flash. So if the app is working but the browser isnt, that could be why. Aside from that, try to empty the cache for your browser or the app? This might not be related directly to your ROM, I have heard a lot of people (running stock roms) complaining that youtube has been broken on their android phone. Does it work in your stock ROM?
Hope this helps, but I doubt it haha.
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if it's possible to make google's official youtube app to play every video in Non-HD mode on my samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (origianal)? Samsung released a crappy ICS update so video playback is horribly laggy especially HD ones, so I want to watch youtube videos in non-HD, but I have to keep pressing the video window, then tap the 'HD' icon and it reloads the video....and it just takes too long.
my tab is rooted, so I am willing to install a modded app IF it's available, but is there any way to set non-HD resolution as default?
Thanks!
Hello people
i noticed that the youtube app in the note 4 is limiting the video resolution to 720p insted of the 2k resolution that our note 4 is capable of..
do you have some idea on how we can watch youtube at 2k?

Open the video with chrome and set desktop view. Then choose 1440P resolution and watch your video of course only work if that videos have high resolution.

You still can't even watch 1080p with the YouTube app?
That crap really annoyed me on my Nexus 7 (2013) where you could only watch 720p at most. :-/
Use the previous update of YouTube and you will be able to watch 1440p just disable auto update from Google playstore ....

That's weird .... Because im using it right now ... and im able to watch 1440p videos .....
Working for me ... try it one more time ..... I know it works because people from the LG G3 thread said was working good ...
I downloaded the YouTube apk from your mediafire link and it worked for me.
It should be noted that I had to remove YouTube twice using System app remover (ROOT) (pro), firstly I removed from User Apps but then when I rebooted YouTube was still present and started updating automatically. I then removed another YouTube that was present in the System Apps section and so it was removed completely.
Installed the above apk and now can enjoy 2K YouTube videos :good:

Im using 5.10.3.5 and I get 1080p on videos that support it. Havent tried higher, because... well... my current device (Note 3) has a 1080p screen (soon to be a Note 4). According to google play, thats the last and latest version here in Scandinavia.

Root your device .... delete youtube from your system "Root Explorer Pro" redoot device ... make sure youtube is not in your system device . And know install the version that I posted ... and know you should be able to see 1440p resolution .....
Also make sure auto update is disable from your playstore
Ok, after some fiddling around, clearing cache, wiping data, removing, reinstalling etc i can now get the 1440p option to show... However when i select anything from the resolution selector nothing seems to happen. I click the cog again and the resolution is the same as it was before ...

It's not perfect, which is why I imagine it was removed from later updates.
On mine I noticed it would autoselect a lower (720p) resolution when I was far from my router but nearer it would stay on 1440p, we have fibre optic broadband but the router is pretty crap so it makes sense to me.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the reason - even if i select 480p it doesn't change anything...
I've gone back to the latest Youtube app at 720p for now - until Google get their **** sorted.
Ok. I was able to see 1440p videos after this was done. And just today i cant no longer been trying to view a video in 1440p and now it only shows on 720p
I deleted the youtube app clean cache . Tempe files etc restarted phone and installed again and i dont know what happened i no longer can see the 1440p again
Any other version Of youtube available or other way
did same as shown but the youtube you post is 13 version no 5 and its same 720p maximum why???

Works fine here. Model (3rd/4th gen), size (7/9 inch), ROM and other basic details are needed if you want further help.
It's a 3rd gen 7 inch tablet from 2013 I think

If still running FireOS v4 (7j years old) then YouTube app will likely fail. Sideload a standalone browser such as Opera and enjoy YouTube that way.

I am running v4.5.5.3 And by likely, you mean that it would Probrably not work on it?

FireOS v4.5 is a highly skinned Android 4.4 variant that is 5+ years old and does not natively support Google core apps. Nor is it easy to load Google Play Services which the YouTube app leverages. So yea, it will *probably* fail.
I've seen other people here have been able to get it working along with the THOUSANDS of youtube videos on the topic. These videos don't go in depth on say running a video and just show them installing the app. Are those other people running v5.1 or something?

Well, given there are "THOUSANDS" of instructional videos it should take you no time getting YouTube up and running. I'll just step out of the way a let the experts lead the way ...
Tip: look for videos specifically targeting 3rd gen HDX hardware (screen size doesn't matter) running stock FireOS. It's doable if you don't mind investing hours, dealing with an unstable device and possibly spinning up a 'soft brick' depending on the methodology employed.
Alternatively, root/unlock and install a custom ROM + GAaps
Alternatively, sideload a high quality browser like Opera and play vids there
Alternatively, use a different device running near AOSP such as the Onn 8
Choose your poison wisely. Good luck.
Use browser.
Youtube app sucks since 2018
Older version stopped working after api updates 1 year ago
With silk browser you can choose video quality and get dark mode (the trick to enable its simple, open youtube and switch to desktop version , open configuration menu and enable dark mode, after that switch to mobile version and there is , full darkmode youtube)
If you wanna youtube app, Skytube works fine, you can see your suscriptions videos/ trendings and see comments.
You cannot see live streamings and comment, but its ok for me.
I have tried side-loading Youtube Vanced and NewPipe on my stock HDX 3rd, neither work. Vanced does the weird glitchy playback like you describe, and NewPipe just errors out. As others have said, I imagine it's because of this old Fire OS we're running.
Browser playback works fine. There is an Amazon app store app called 'Video For Youtube' that also works well, it even allows you to sign into your Youtube/Google account. It's free (I'm not the dev.)
