[Q] [KERNEL DEVELOPMENT] Kernel reports only 249MB RAM instead 289MB - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
So, I'm creating custom kernel based on Rafael.Baugis source. After some time of adding additions my kernel reports only 249MB of RAM when after jumping to Rafael kernel it reports 289MB again.

Compiled kernel with problem in attachment (I'm using it to daily use, so don't worry about **** outs [CM7 beta, RFS not tested, EXT4 100% ok]).
There is kernel source:
https://github.com/devloz/Ace-I-Kernel
Thanks very much.
PS: I'll commit after reboot to Ubuntu (10-15 minutes delay) [already commited].
PSS: Even on stock I've CyanogenMod-like upper screen glitch when scrolling horizontally (Related to modded graphics driver).

Could you write properly how to install? And what download for cm7?
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda premium

If testing compiled:
- Download EXT4, RFS, or CM7.
- Download modules.
- Install EDITION.
- Install modules.
If testing source:
- Clone git or examine my last commit on GitHub (this about issue [some hours ago[)
- Tell me what is wrong.
NOTE:
- CM7 still have not working things ie. bluetooth (wifi works well and upper screen glitch is more upper so dont disturbing as earlier).
- RFS never tested to boot (Will boot to recovery of course but not sure if will mount rfs partitions on boot).
- EXT4 will boot 100% on STOCK based ROMS (have better 3D).
++ REMEMBER it's question, not release.

Is this project stopped? seemed promising

RAM Optimisation (Script)

Hi there,
I found a RAM optimisation script which makes the phone smoother and faster, but it can only be used with custom kernels which support init.d
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/the-best-ram-optimisation-script-for-android/
I'm currently on the 2.6.29-Zdzihu-mod3.51, [email protected] #1`Mon Jun 13 22:15:22 JST 2011. So my question is, does this kernel support init.d?
Edit: I think this topic can also be used to discuss and talk about the script and to report problems and the solutions

I've been using this script for about a week now.
I haven't seen much of a difference but it doesn't hurt either.
I am using Cob's GB MIUI, with Goro's 360mod kernel.
I am fairly certain though that even stock SE kernel supports init.d.
To see if your ROM/kernel supports init.d, get Root Explorer
and navigate to /system/etc. If a folder named init.d is there, you're good to go.

Included in my ROM since like 2 Months but with different Values Very nice tweaks
vm settings could be applied by sysctl.conf, which its supported even by stock kernel, and minfree settings applies by third party app - so there is no need for extra features from kernel side.

[TWEAK] Pimp my ROM v3.3.1

Do you want your blazingly fast DNA to run faster??? Of course you do. Pimp your phone with Pimp my ROM.

***NOTE*** I claim no credit for the development of this tweaker. All props to Androguide.fr. His original thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269. I also claim no responsibility for any damage for using this application.
That being said, I've been using PmR since its infancy on my GNex and then my SGS3. As the post above states, it works on any device, any ROM. The difference with the DNA is you have to use one of dsb's system write enabled kernels in order for the app to work. It makes many changes to init.d and build.prop, so do a backup prior to messing with this.
If you don't want to use the app version/install the custom kernel, I have uploaded the very last version the Aroma installer he made (v2.1.2 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/68066384/PIMP_MY_ROM-v2.1.2-by-Androguide.fr-XHDPI.zip, 32.41MB.) Do a dalvik cache and cache wipe in recovery then flash the .zip.
Like I said, I've been using it quite a while. Now that we have system write in Android, we can use the latest version which you SHOULD/MUST download from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.pimp.my.rom&hl=en
First tip- If you're using the app version, immediately go to Universal Init.d Support. Hit the Activate button. Reboot. Come back into the app after reboot and click the Verify button. Once verified, tweak away

Nice work, works a treat!
How easy is it to build? I've been desperately wanting a kernel with kvm virtualization builtin (CONFIG_KVM, CONFIG_KVM_INTEL, CONFIG_VHOST_NET, CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET, CONFIG_KVM_DEVICE_ASSIGNMENT etc not as modules but builtin) - I don't suppose you've got time to do a rebuild?

U can rebuild it by yourself, it`s pretty easy. Sources are full, go ahead.
is this work for 4.2.1?

After working with one Qualcomm device, I decided to jump on another device, primarily on older one. My intentions are basic and simple - make a stable, fast, light product, which would actually do wonders with quality modifications.
Some notes, why this kernel will be exclusive:
- It's going to be compiled using Krait optimized Linaro toolchain (from past experience, this one has the best performance/battery ratio)
- MSM8974 specific optimization flags, kernel cleaning
- Kernel version bump to 3.4.11
- No major additions to it, like OC, UV and etc. I want to keep this kernel as barebone as possible.
- Anykernel method, of course.
- Sources will be on my github, of course, when I manage to compile a first kernel build.
Link to my github: https://github.com/airidosas252/android_kernel_samsung_klte
First kernel build will appear today. It will be close to stock CM13 kernel with some additional magic for now. Better to start from start updates rather from radical changes, which might decrease it's stability.
Nice! Add and fast charge .

Sure thing, sorry for the hold up, had a pretty difficult week, so kernel builds went on hold.
@airidosas252
Nice to see new kernel here
Good luck with this project.

Description (important)
Spoiler: Description
No, it's not PHH-based (although it does inherit a bunch of critical fixes from @phhusson - thank him all the same). Rather, inspired by @ c03d1, this is an effort to "start over" from the AOSP generic target gsi_ * and add in the minimum amount of fixes needed for my own devices, shaking off much of the legacy burden in the process.
Due to this radical change in direction, this will likely not work on pre-A10 devices anymore, and won't work as well as PHH-based GSIs that you've come to love either. For example, FOD and VoLTE are missing and I might never add them. That's all intentional on my side.
There's no A-only, no VNDKLite, and no GAPPS / secure at the moment - all I offer for test right now is a "personal" flavor, vanilla, PHH-SU'd image.
