So recently when I pulled out my phone it was randomly booting up. When it was done it gave me this screen:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, while being confused, I pressed Reset Phone. However nothing happened and it just booted up back to the same screen. I tried doing factory reset only to find out I now have a new error
.
HTML:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD: copy default media content failed
was the error I got when I tried to install a new ROM in Recovery.
I have gotten it back to Stock Rom 2.2 but it still says I have "Unavailable" memory.
I looked everywhere online to try to fix it but I couldn't find a solution that wouldn't require me to use external memory forever (I only have a 2GB memory card)
NOTE: I have a Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 Used to be rooted until now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Damn i was working on a fix for this before bricking my device. So you could use an ext sdcard workaround or you could send it to me as a guine pig board if you have another device to use for the time being

Sadly the only alternative is to use external memory. Unless you have another backup phone, I suggest you invest in a SanDisk Ultra 32GB micro SDHC or other class 10 micro SDHC card...
Out of curiosity, what ROM were you using when this error occurred?
Yeah in also wondering what rom. Was it ice cream sandwich?

^^That's what's at the root of my gtab's /sdcard.
Also, there used to be two folders in that that I had created and are no longer there.
Here's what I was doing immediately before I noticed this:
I'm currently using TnT Lite. I need to be able to access wifi at work but my company uses EAP encryption and TnT doesn't have a setting for EAP. I decided that rather than switching roms, I would just switch settings menus (using the files found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857939).
Stupid me, I downloaded them to /sdcard2 rather than /sdcard. I booted into clockworkmod and tried to install the zip from the sdcard but clockworkmod couldn't find anything. I realized my mistake and rebooted the gtab and hooked up the usb to my pc. That's when I noticed the file corruption.
Everything still seems to work as it did before, I just don't have access to any of the files that were in those folders.
In case it matters, one folder held the TnT Lite rom and the other held several videos.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?
Should I try to delete the corrupted files?
Any help with this is much appreciated.
I don't claim to know why this happens this is just what I did to fix my problem.
I noticed this on my gtab also, to the point my cal program wouldn't open. The only way I could fix it was to do an sd partition to it fix the issue. There are instructions on how to do that with cm8. This is from memory so please double check, go to the advanced options choose sd partition 2048/0. Please note that this wipes the sd card so back up prior.
I still get a few of those weird files buy not like before.
same thing happened to me but hasn't come back after
re-partitioning with cwm ... maybe that is the fix
I would *really* like to know why this happens (that and why
the sdcard2 gets wiped out sometimes).
Basically, you dare not trust android with any important data
and you never know if what's on it will disappear suddenly
Unfortunately, this makes the tablet just a toy
So is the best option really just to re-partition the sd card?
If I end up re-partitioning, will I have to flash the ROM over again? Or does partitioning just remove the user data?
Quote: will I have to flash the ROM over again?
No
I've read a few random Galaxy related topics on the SD card not mounting, but Im worried about using methods from other devices on this device.
In Rom manager premium, Flash ClockworkMod recovery was used, selected Vibrant, it said no official recovery, and asked if I had installed version 2 or 3 of CWM. I selected 2 and it said its using CWM with Rom Manager.
Well now anytime I reboot into recovery, or try to flash a rom from Rom Manager Premium it cannot mount the SD card.
I go into mounts and storage and try and mount the SD, nothing.
Is this something as simple as re-partitioning the SD? Or has something corrupted in my recovery?
BTW, XDA, you guys ROCK!! I dont post usually, cause I dont need to! Except this time
The guides and walk through here are so easy I usually never have troubles. Rooted and rom MANY different android models for work here All thanks to XDA!

were you able to solve this?
I was trying to port a ROM to my phone, but I can't get the SD card to mount properly.
It DOES mount but in a weird way.
The SD card shows up in Settings>Storage but it is divided up between internal storage and SD card.

The 32gb sd card is showing up as internal storage while the files on it are coming up under SD card. And as you can see, there is no option to unmount or format it but a greyed out option to mount it.
And if I take it out and put it back in, it doesn't mount even in this way until I restart the phone.
Apps like ROM Manager/Camera say that the SD Card is not mounted while apps like gallery and apollo can read my images and music off of it.
Could somebody please tell me what could be wrong and how could I possibly fix it.
Bump.
Please someone give some clue. I am also experiencing simillar problem while porting for my phone

Me too!
Except I can't even access the settings>storage because it FCs.
And when I plug in the phone to my computer, it doesn't give me connection options. It just charges.
Any help?
What worked for me was to put the 'storage_list.xml' file from the old framework-res.apk (BASE) to the new framework-res.apk (PORT).
What worked for me was leaving the ports vold.fstab there
Sent from my myTouch 4g using xda app-developers app
sadly none of it works for me

Problem with Storage
Do you have now the permanent fix with this problem?
i tried both the storage_list_xml and leaving the vold their.
but none works for me, I can't still change the default write disk to internal storage, and the size of the internal is not correct.
4gb is the built in memory but it says 16gb when porting roms.
thank you in advanced.
sd card not detected
I ported rom to my device...
The prob i m getting is that of 0 mb internal storage and no exterior sd card is shown
Neither gallery nor file manager is showing any thing.
I did everything lyk storage list replacement
Vold.stab replacement
But nothing worked
As i click storage option in sd card mobile reboots
Both the storage r shown in recovery
But not through usb or in device
Plz help me out dev....
First of all, this is not related to any unsuccessfull flash process, I got my S3 in 2012 and it worked like a charm after many flash processes. The last ROM is - was :'( - Blekota Note 4 Lite 5.2
The problem came when this morning, I plugged my phone to charge, it was 3% battery, I left it for 1 hour and when I came back, the back of the phone was very hot and the phone screen hanging on the first image of boot animation. I unplugged it and removed battery, once turned on, it did not leave the samsung logo. I suppose the chip simply fried...
I was looking for a solution and found something that may be for help, but the solution i found was for SGS-I9000, the process did not work for my S3 (this one with two others related to sgs1), I formatted the sd card with 16GB Ext 4 and 16GB Fat32.
As I am not familiar with scripts and linux commands, my question is simple:
Is there a way to install a ROM in external SD card ? my phone starts in download mode and I am able to flash TWRP (or any other recovery) via odin, this one shows me Internal SD card capacity as 0 when I try to install anything. See attachments below, the red messages appear also when trying to flash stock firmware , after the first reboot (I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5)

If you cant mount anything, its either your internal storage is burnt too or corrupted from being affected by the burn. Your s3 might be basically destroyed

That's the point of trying to install system in external SD
Unfortunately that is impossible. Sorry
Hey folks,
I think I briked my Phone last night but I dont give up on it.
What happened: I tried to flash a new ROM because my current Custom ROM didnt appeal to me at all. So I went into TWRP and made a normal wipe. Then I tried to install new new ROM.zip. The first odd thing was that I couldnt navigate to the download folder on my external sd card. The good thing was that the old ROM.zip was available for flashing so I decided to flash the old ROM anew. And then...nothing happened. I couldnt intall the ROM. Not even the Gapps.zip was able to be flashed.
Then I thought I could try it via Fastboot on the PC (I have a Motorola x Style/Pure) and googled how to do it. I found a command to install a .zip and tried it. But it didnt work: It said smth like 'Bootloader denied'. So that wasnt the ways to go for me.
After that I went back into TWRP and looked on the command line. And there was smth odd aswell. I said: "Failed to mount '/cache' (Invalid argument). The same with 'data'. The internet said I should format (not wipe) the storage in TWRP. I tried it and although it said that it was successfull nothing was...TWRP is still unable to mount cache and data.
I found out that it has smth to do with the encryption but idk.
So that is my problem: I cant install anything. I cant format anything.
Pls if you have any idea on this pls tell me. I already ordered a new phone but it would be nice if this phone didnt become a paperweight...
And thank you if you read till here. Aaaand sry for my bad english
