ive noticed that the evo 3d supports HID when i connected my bluetooth keyboard and mouse to my phone last night.
I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can confirm if a bluetooth gamepad, such as the MSI BGP100 will work on the Evo 3D.
Also, does anyone know of a bluetooth controller that has the same type of buttons as a playstation 1 controller that also works with the Evo 3D?
it does support HID!? YES!!! I was holding off checking because I didn't want it to sour the whole experience!!! HAHA YES!

I can confirm that the Freedom Bluetooth Keyboard works - it's a folding keyboard that you can fit in a big pocket. Also - I used the HID option on the Freedom keyboard and connected absolutely painlessly. I was also able to connect a ThinkOutside bluetooth mouse without needing any drivers.
I also own the MSI BGP100 gamepad. I can get the Evo 3D to see it as a "GAMEPAD" and I can pair them, but can't get it to "connect". No matter what I do - I see "Paired but not Connected".
If anyone has any ideas or drivers I could try - I'd be happy to report back.
Edit: I just downloaded the "bluez" gamepad driver from the market - and I'll report back on it later tonight when I get home from work.
I can now confirm that the MSI bluetooth gamepad works a treat with the bluez IME drivers you can download off of the market for free. The drivers will work for the most common bluetooth gamepads available for phones it seems.
The process is not so clear. First you pair as I stated above, just using the regular phone's bluetooth settings. Using the touchscreen keyboard, I typed 0000 to connect to my MSI gamepad.
After that, I opened up "settings" "Language and Keyboard, enabled bluez ime. Then I went into bluez IME settings on the same page. I activated bluetooth. Selected the "gamepad" I had most recently paired to. I selected the proper device driver ie "MSI Chainpus BGP 100". I selected IME, specifically ticking on the Bluez IME keyboard. This disables the touchscreen keyboard by the way. Then I configured keymapping for each of the gamepad's buttons - matching them to a standard keyboard.
After that, I went into the emulator (in this case GENSOID) - went into settings, other settings and enabled "use input method". Finaly I went into "Input Settings" and changed the key mappings for each of the emulator's buttons. At this point, the inputs should be responding to the bluetooth device's keypresses - that's how you know you've succeeded.
So far - I'm very impressed. I'd only used this bluetooth gamepad with my HTC Touch Pro (Windows Mobile 6.1). With these drivers I notice next to no lag. I played about a half hour and got no disconnections either - the signal seems strong - unlike my experience with the Touch Pro back in the day. I haven't played extensively - but it did get me through two levels of "Altered Beast" and one level of "Golden Axe".

try the phonejoy gamepad
http://www.phonejoy.net/index.html
Sweet im getting one ASAP.
If it supports HID, which it sounds like it does then the Phonejoy will work - heres my demo with the HTC Sensation (forward to 3:30):
More info here including stuff on the new Phonejoy version with analog sticks!
Has someone tested the Wiimote with the 3D. I have one laying around somewhere and I'd rather not buy a new controller if I don't have to.
I could not get wiimote to work. I read somewhere it has something to do with the new bluetooth 3.0 not being compatible or something. In any even it would not work for me.
It's not BT 3.0, its HTC's non-stock BT stack that is the problem.
Wiimote doesnt work, however I.done remember where but someone was saying that other bluetooth gamepads have worked on the e3d!! Ill try to look and see if I can find it again

The one in my video on the first page of this thread will work with the Evo 3D, as will the iControlPad and Zeemote (Zeemote doesn't have enough buttons to be particularly useful however).
I have done some research and found that the only Bluetooth controller that works with the Evo 3d is the Gamestop wireless Bluetooth gamepad for tablets. I have been trying to get a hold of one but they're always in short supply or the only way you can get one is to buy a tablet and they give you a free gamepad with your purchase.

The Wiimote definitely works, but only on an AOSP gingerbread rom, like CM7. I have a backup of cm7 and everytime I want to play a game with a gamepad, I switch to that rom and connect. Works everytime. Been doing this since I had the OG evo.
Also, using a Sony Dualshock controller, the one that Sony makes, not a knock off, and using the app sixaxispairtool works flawlessly on an AOSP rom. I used to use the wiimote and the classic controller but it was just too much. Two controllers and a wire (wii) compared to just a wireless ps3 controller, the ps3 way is just easier.

BT KeyBoard as Game Controller?
I have a GearHead KT-1282 BT Keyboard... On the 3vo running ICS Stock-Rooted, it Pairs & Connects fine, as does my Logitech RCQ142 BT Mouse. I've been trying to get the BT KB to function as a Game Controller while I play Mass Effect: Infiltrator... I Need HELP...
I've gotten BluezIME, Game Keyboard, & Sixaxis Controller from the play store, and have been screwin with the configurations of each of these for a while...
Using Game Keyboard as default IME, I've gotten the KB Keys mapped to certain GamePad buttons, enabled "Perform touchscreen action with physical key", etc... and that, nor any other attempt has yielded any results within the game...
Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks in advance...

Ok. When you connect the ps3 controller to the computer and open Motionjoy and click BluetoothPair, does it say "Have paired to:" then the bluetooth adress next to it? Since it does say "Client Connected" once, then I think you got the setup right though.
Did you try to connect the ps3 controller to the prime using USB and pressing the home botton? Are you able to use the controller with USB? If that works, then I would try sixaxis again and make sure wifi is turned off. If it still disconnects, then I would try connecting another bluetooth device to the prime, to check if that is the problem. Also, if you haven't, try to reboot. If it still doesn't work, then you might have to use the USB cable.

THE CONTROLLER PS3 is not ORIGINAL , do you think thats the Problem ?
some one how can help PLS ?
WTF ;( ?
Try this and tell me if it works:
1. Plug controller in with USB port connected.
2. Play around with it to make sure it works for a bit.
3. Push the Playstation button and unplug it from the USB at the same time.
Weird, but it works for me, lol.
If you bought a cheap ps3 controller off ebay it might be the problem, yes. It should be super easy you see, so there might be something wrong with the controller. I'm assuming you don't have the dock, so you are not able to test if it works on the prime using usb?
When you are pairing it, this is how it should look like:
I don't have Sixaxis installed, it's unrooted, and it works fine with bluetooth. I don't know why you're going through the trouble of using Sixaxis at all.

Tried 7 times, doesn't work for me when I turn off bluetooth. If it works for some with it off, then it's just a glitch probably.
I'm guessing it's a glitch, they fixed it in the update that I got I bet. Now it shows up in the actual bluetooth controllers in bluetooth settings, Woot! It caused reboots and i'm sure it was linked to that.
You conecct it without an app? If i want to pair manual it dont works .i have to do any settings in sixaxis ? Profil or anything?

ok, first i had to wat da hell?
The knockoff PS3 controllers like the one you got from ebay DO NOT WORK. i learned that the hard way too. Something with how they authenticate, it works for a PS3 but barely, i can connect it to my computer and use it as a controller for that, but for sixaxis controller on my tablet, no way.
Spend the money, buy a real controller. Used game places, pawn shops, i found one with the old packaging at my local TheSource store (TheSource.ca) for like, 15% off. I bought it, it works awesome.
As far as apps go, sixaxis controller is the way to go. Pay the couple of bucks, its worth it. Actively updated, new features seemingly every other week. just do it. you wont be sorry.
As far as getting the controller to connect:
Get this app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&hl=en
Go to here and download the sixaxis pair tool:
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
Other apps can do the same thing, i have used the one in the screenshots previous, however it reverses the mac address. Just use the one i linked, it works with no hassle.
Plug in sixaxis controller to your computer, use the tool to change the mac address.
Start the app on your tablet, it will turn off bluetooth if its on so no need to worry about that. start your sixaxis controller, it should connect pretty much no problem (as long as its genuine, if its a knockoff good luck)
The latest version of the app has a USB pair ability, you can connect your controller via USB and that, for whatever reason, worked on my knockoff controller. weird.
Hope this helps, i know its not the news your looking for. As of yet i cant find anything to get my cheap controller connected, aparently it uses nonstandard meathods for connecting to the PS3 so theres no definate way to make it work 100%.
Thanks for that i buy one and test it later.
I have to change the controller settings game by game ? Also for GTA one and other for shadowgun? Do you can send me your settings if i need it.
Thanks guys for your help

Hello,
i just want to ask if its possible to pair wiimote with stock ICS rom for SGSII, as in previous versions of roms this was unable due TouchWiz, what is mentioned in wiimote applications on Google play.
I tested it by myself and result is :
Phone itself detect Wii mote and display it as Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 with game controller icon, but when i try to pair device it asks for PIN which is empty, Wiimote doesnt need PIN when pairing with PC, its just Android problem that device withould PIN cannot be paired. There is probably no way to skip PIN enter dialog.
I also tried WiimoteController and RWiimote from Google play, none of them worked.
RWiimote detects controller but show same pairing dialog to enter PIN
WiimoteController doesnt detect controller at all
For example i tried my Logitech DiNovo Edge bluetooth keyboard and it worked well, device paired withould any problems.

Kudos for testing it yourself.
Probably still has the same issue with the Samsung bluetooth stack in ICS that Gingerbread had. Sounds like Samsung didn't change this between Gingerbread and ICS.
I don't have ICS installed yet, so I can't say for sure if it will work for ICS, but SixAxis works on stock Samsung GB firmwares. The SixAxis app was updated late 2011 to work with the Samsung bluetooth stack using a tunneling protocol workaround.
I've tested and gamed plenty of SNES and PSX games using my PS3 controller on my phone, plugged into my TV via MHL.
Im do not own PS3 and its controller and im not planning to buy one in near future.
Anyway i still have no luck with wiimote, tested FoxHound ICS rom and same behaviour as with stock rom, phone keeps asking for pin when pairing wiimote.

Isn't Fox Hound based on stock? If so, then it will use the same bluetooth stack, and have the same issue.
As of now your only hope for WiiMote to work is to go with an AOSP ROM, like CM9. Or any other AOSP based ROM.
Or, buy a ps3 controller for $30-40 and use SixAxis.
With CM9 nightlies getting cleaner and cleaner, is it possible that this is soon work?

Hello!
I recently bought a playstation 3 controller to use with my PC and emulators on my Tablet. I discovered that without root i wasn't able to fully utilize the controller on my tablet.
I got to work and rooted my tablet, bought sixaxis controller and set it up. I am now able to connect with the app and bind keys in the emulator with the app. However when i exit the key-binding menu and begin to play a game the emulator suddenly doesn't recognize any of my button presses made with the app.
I made a touch profile so that i could play but i really want to be able to play without this touch profile.
I've googled with no results for days and i now ask you, what do you think is wrong? And how can i fix it?
Which emulators are you using this with? With some of them you have to set up the bindings in the emulator app.
If you bought a cheap ps3 controller on ebay it will not work. If you buy a legit PS3 controller it will work. Common problem, aftermarket controllers have a slightly different bluetooth profile that its kind of goofy...
If you have a legit controller then it must be other settings!
Lets start from the beginning.
FIRST TIME! If its your first time pairing the controller to the tablet you need to get a USB cable and plug it into the dock.
Start up the app
press the "pair controller" button. This tells the controller which address to connect to. If you dont do this then the controller is looking for a PS3 which your tablet obviously is not.
If it is NOT your first time, or you have used the PC utility to manually change the bluetooth address on the controller
Start up the app
Press Start
Turn on the controller
Remember, you must change the IME (input) from whatever keyboard you have to sixaxis.
Once you see the message in the window say you are paired press the up down left right buttons on the ps3 controller, you SHOULD see things happen on the screen. If not you did something wrong.
If you want to use touch profiles select it from the box
If the above does not work check with the PC utility that your controller is trying to pair to the correct bluetooth address. Note sometimes the sequence is reversed - 12:23:34:45:56:67 can sometimes be 67:56:45:34:32:12. Different applications on the PC work differently.
Make sure you are using the latest LEGIT copy. If you are pirating this software it likely wont work. Check on the market you are updated to the latest version.
If all else fails, contact the developer or check the developers website. I know it works with the prime im running it on mine, works great!
Good luck!
EDIT
Re-reading OP i'd say it sounds like you forgot to change the IME. Maybe check that first

It's a real controller and i did change the IME.
I am primarily using the N64 emulator. When i map the keys without sexaxis controller installed most of the keys are named <unknow>. When i start sixaxis controller i get "DPAD_START" or something similar when i map the keys. (after enabeling the IME).
So the connecting and mapping goes perfect. But somehow when i exit the settings and start to play it wont detect the keys anymore.
It's quite late now, i will test everything again tomorrow to make sure the problem is still there. But i truly don't know what to do.
I don't know about the emulator you're using, but in NESoid, and SNESoid etc to use sixaxis with it, theres an option in menu>settings>Other settings>"Use Input Method" Enable special input device eg bluetooth gamepad - This needs checked for the controller to work see if this is enabled on yours

Ya its kind of annoying because with sixaxis you can have it set for controller input, emulate keyboard, or sort of a hybrid (like the experia play does with its keys), different apps deal with these things differently, its just a matter of finding a method that works best for the app your using.
Glad to hear you got it working!
Thank you
I only rooted to use the controller, I was getting frustrated

Basically the title. I'm wondering what wireless controller you've guys gotten to work with the Pixel. I don't really won't to get anything expensive because I'm probably won't end up using it much. I wouldn't mind getting one that holds the phone though. I'll mainly be using it for emulators and such.
Also, has anyone successfully gotten the Sony Dualshock 4 controller to work with it? It seems to pair just fine but I can't get any buttons to work with it. It'd be awesome if I could get it work because I already own one.
Thanks in advance friends!
I believe with a PlayStation controller you need a way to map the buttons like Sixaxis Controller (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller).

I haven't tried Sixaxis yet with my Pixel, but it worked pretty well for my previous phone. It does require root.
Good news, I got Sony Playstation DualShock DS3/DS4 controllers to work on Google Pixel.
I have a pixel, rooted, with SixAxis Controller app installed.
Wired USB:
dmesg for ds3/4 show the devices connecting via USB, but does not create a hid/dev input device. sad, this worked perfectly on Galaxy S3 on Cyanogenmod
Wireless (Bluetooth):
- Program the master address using SixPairTool on Windows (use phone's Bluetooth MAC address)
- DS4: pair natively as "Wireless Controller" in Android, holding PS+Share. Buttons will not work at this point.
- DS4: Start SixAxis app, and touch start. it 'just works' now, tested in JohnSNES and DosBox, NO LATENCY! Zelda / CommanderKeen
- DS4: Touchpad/Sticks/Buttons works natively in android, sweet. No need to switch to SixAxis IME
- DS3: No native bluetooth pairing. Start SixAxis app, touch start.
- DS3: Hold PS button to start pairing mode, phone will popup with request (0000/1234)
- DS3: Latency seems good, but didn't play that long (JohnSNES).
- DS3+4: XY/AB buttons seem to be swapped, but easy fix in SixAxis settings.
So ROOT is needed for both controllers and wired support is broken.
I got an ouya controller to work. For what it's worth. Of course I wouldn't recommend spending $50 to get one if you do that have it already
I prefer to use the USB a to c doohickey and plug an Xbox controller right in. Works perfectly. Noted for future research though, thanks.
My SteelSeries XL works very well with my Pixel. It's easily the nicest looking controller I've seen that is meant for use with a phone.
At the moment I am using it with DraStic NDS emulator but it likely to work with any game that supports external controllers.
