Locked or unlocked bootloader....?
If locked, why dont you try download voodoo ota rootkeeper and protect root....after that unroot using it....then try update....
Im able to update that way after i got the same problem as yours and it work......worth a try..

Lock the bootloader, update to 290 and root again. Use your eyes and read. It's new year so don't expect any quality stuff from me.

here you go
yes you can . but the update is end off may/ begin june 2012
you need a pc and offical sony pc software from there web site
to update the the phone to ics 4.0
please bear in mind the update will wipe your root off
so if you downgrade back to 2.3.4 you have to root again

No, you don't have to unroot, but bootloader has to be locked.

If you have rooted .58, make update directly from your phone via 3G or WiFi to .62. Make sure bootloader is locked.

Here's an excellent tutorial.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559685
I had to install the generic .58 version from that tutorial in order to get the OTA update tho.
Good luck.

I never had a problem when rooted. The only problem that I had when rooted and doing OTA is that you lose root. Just make sure you get voodoo OTA rootkeeper to save root. You installed link2sd, busybox, deleted some apps that came with the phone, installed cwm or something that modified the system. Make a backup via cwm, then download a clean v20f here then wait for the update. Good Luck!!!

What do you mean?
no its not yet rootable (i think from what im aware of) without unlocking the bootloader first...
and no this is not with the root package added... its just the plain stock sony branded rom/firmware

What is this update?

I'm on Bell but have Niaboc's D6503 23.1.A.0.690 installed and my phone says there is a system update. Any idea what this would be?
Cheers

Why not flash one of the many prerooted 1.28 zips offered here on this forum. Search and you bound to find one
Or download the FTF of choice and use PRFcreator to make your own flashable pre-rooted zip.
