looking for suggestions xt912 - Motorola Droid RAZR

hey folks. im an xt912 droid owner wanting some advice. currently im running stock everything aside from being rooted. im tired of the xt912 not getting updates anymore and want to try the roms i see here. 4.4 or whatever. i notice my phone feeling sluggish from time to time. mostly when gaming. are there any huge advantages in the 4.4's verses stock? if so what rom is rly stable and how to install them? i see roms but have to install jbx kernel or w/e. any suggestions or advice would greatly be appreciated. thankd

I have cm11 (20140101 nightly) and dhackers gapps on my xt912 and everything that I use is working fine. Earlier nightlies had some GPS and WiFi issues, but it appears that those problems have been resolved. I do not have the JBX kernel installed (I've never tried a new kernel and I'm hesitant to add more variables as possible source of problems) . I did recently switch back to launcher instead of the newer launcher3 (you will be asked which one to use during the initial setup; you can also switch this later) and that seems to be working better for me. I did do a complete wipe of my phone (including internal and external memory), I then used the jelly bean script to install the stock ROM and root the device. Next I installed safestrap 3.65 and created rom-slot2 with the default sizes. Then I flashed cm11 and the gapps zip files (in that order). Finally I rebooted and let all my apps reinstall which took awhile since I run a lot of apps. So far no problems have surfaced. Good luck.

I would post links to "DROID RAZR Utility XT912 Jellybean" and "SafeStrap 3.65", but I'm having trouble posting links. You should be able to find them using Google search.

whats the launcher/3? like nova and go launcher?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app

I'm no expert but my understanding is that launcher is the original launcher used in previous versions of cm and launcher3 is the new version of launcher. Not sure how they compare to nova and go launcher since I have never tried them. If you try launcher(3) please let us know if it is as good as nova and go launcher. Thanks

i use tsf shell myself. only seen nova so cant compare alot. how about the differences in cm11 and stock 4.1.2? anything rly different to mention in them?

Launcher3 is the replacement for the last cm launcher.

Best thing would be to try it for yourself.
Keep your stock slot and try the CM11. If you feel its right for you, continue to use it. If something ain't right, you can always go back to your stock slot.

Once you use a good ROM you won't go back to stock.

ok question. i'm rooted, downloaded all required files and installed safestrap 3.65 as suggested in cm11 thread. I click to install recovery and it says it's installed. when I click to reboot recovery it just reboots my phone, not into safestrap. what am I doing wrong?

is it because im on stock rom?

Try a couple of different ROMs. I love the Eclipse ROM, only big issue that I have is 3g isn't working. Other than that, if you get 4g where you live you might not mind. I, too, got tired of how sluggish my phone was getting. I had rooted my phone back in 2.3.6 and was not able to update. I was literally on that version up until under a month ago when I un-rooted and updated all the way back up to modern times. Then I was like, wth, I'll try out these new ROMs and I fell in love with the amount of customization. You will not be disappointed in what you are able to do now. And I don't really mind how the razr is "locked" because using safestrap allows you to boot into stock ROM in the event that your current ROM does mess up.

I'd be curious if your camera works now that you've switched to cm11. The stock camera routinely crashes on me with every single nightly even though I've heard this was fixed some time ago

[MOD] CM7 Beats Audio + ALSA + AudioFXwidget

First off this is not my mod all thanks go to Lovetz whose thread I will link and Rockodev and Contradictor who he credits there. Recently I went back to CM7 because of stability issues with the DX2 CM9 ROMS. Once back I started having problems with DSP Manager fc'ing just like I remember. Decided to look for a fix or alternative and found this... IT WORKS GREAT!!!! imho.
As always neither myself or anyone other than YOU are responsible should you mess up your phone, especially if you don't NANDROID BACKUP!!!!!!
1. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653140
2. Download the required files referred to in the OP.
3. I used File Explorer to rename DSPManger.apk to DSPManager.apk.old to disable it.
4. Boot into our recovery.
5. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH THE ZIP FILE!!!
6. Flash the zip file downloaded from the above link. (I did not do anything other than flash the zip, ie. mount system & mount data referred to in the OP instructions...I think our recovery does that by default)
7. Reboot... I did not wipe anything
8. Install the AudioFXwidget apk (to "open" the widget settings you must do so via the app draw even after installing the widget on a home page)
Enjoy...
I don't play music alot on my X2 but this MOD has made a vast improvement on my X2, clearer, virtually no skipping even with a browser open and surfing
Do you think this may work on the latest Paranoid Android for the DX2?

I wasn't really interested in the beats audio itself. It's just a brand name championed by guys who want to make money, including the creator who got famous for making music where sonic fidelity is the absolute last concern of all involved in production. /rant.
anyhow, I was more interested in the getting rid of audio skips effect of this mod. I hate messing with EQ's and the main benefit of this mod seems to be getting a working EQ/DSP onto ROMs where they aren't.
I'm of the opinion OP may have missed that his beats zip didn't install correctly and played with the EQ til he got sound he liked. This is only because I haven't seen anyone else reporting success on the DX2, which is a sufficiently different beast than the galaxy ace. I don't mean to imply that OP is incompetent or in any way a bad person.
not working
I have tried this on both CM7 and CM9. It is confirmed not working for both. I have sbf'd wiped everything and it doesn't install... Oh well!
The creator of the mod has an app on Google Play that does the work for you. Works fine on my X2 running the latest Eclipse, and it didn't break my DSP manager either.

[Q] Best GB to JB option for Galaxy SII which is easily rootable?

So I've tried stock ICS but it didn't do it for me do I reverted back to GB 2.3.5 just for simplicity and ease of use.
However, I am thinking of going to JB once it's fully stable. I am currently running a root kernel bit that's it.
So, 2 questions arise here:
What's the easiest way to save my data as one file in Titanium Backup so I can reinstall on a new build?
Which build is fully JB ready? By this, I mean that all functions run flawlessly. I don't want an absence of wifi, gps, sms etc.
I know this sounds like I'm asking a lot, but I'm overcomplicating my request. So tl;dr, need GB to JB upgrade whilst keeping app and data settings.
Oh yes, I am on the 3 UK network.
Thank you.

But,
For apps u can use titanium back up
SMS - SMS back up and restore
Call log - call log back up and restore
Photos stay
And the recommended JB ROMs are either root box or resurrection remix, all JB ROMs are stable and are fully functional in reference to calls SMS WiFi and gps

If you have the pro key (definitely worth it) you can do batch restore, and sort them into categories. Don't know if this will help but it'll save loads of time

Google Now on Stock Rom.

Alright, following This Guide I got Google now working.
To summarize what I did
1. Root phone using the Korean Root method
2. I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM using Project FreeGee
3. I booted into CWM and installed This zip.At the I was writing this guide, I freegee was on version 0.5
4. My phone restarted and froze up about twice before finally staying booted. It seems to have normalized now.
edit:Right now most things seem to work.
If anyone finds a better version of Google now, please let me know and post the how-to.
I didn't make the zips and all I have done is follow the instructions and write down my personal experience. I give full credit to the author of the original post for their instructions/work they did. However, since the LGOG doesn't need project Butter, Google Now is the main thing we are missing from 4.1 and it should help ease the wait for a stable AOSP ROM. If anyone has any issues let me know and I'll make a list.

THis is great news. Right now I'm pondering whether to get this phone or the Note II, and Google now (which I have on my Captivate running SlimBean 3.0) is the one thing I really cannot imagine giving up.
Question: when you say that Calendar/settings alamrs don't work, do you mean that they don't work at all, or that they don't show up in Google Now?
I was referring to not working in Google now. Although i did manage to set an alarm with it shortly after this post.

Uninstall stock voice search with titanium backup or you will get problems with android keyboard. It makes it try use them both for voice typing. I'd assume it may be the cause of any and all problems.

Mysterious File on SD

A mysterious file is always generated on my SD card no matter how many times I format it or delete the file. The file has an extension of "MOLOGIQ" and is usually named ".06ba141d-a652-464b-b7c2-0932d1a1402b.mologiq". I have a fear that it is a spyware application that's hidden in my phone. I really can't seem to get rid of it. Any help understanding this or getting rid of it is much appreciated. My phone is rooted, S-OFF, 4EXT. This occurs on any ROM/kernel and even with full wipes and formatting I can't seem to get rid of it.
Just from googleing it comes up as stealth mode start up advertising, which sounds like a load of crap, don't know how or where you got it but it don't sound good

If a full wipe doesn't fix it, all I could suggest is formatting SD again, through your PC, then run the ruu

I'm a flashaholic if that's how you spell it. v.v
It shows up on any ROM I use. Even on the ROMs that have full wipe aroma, I've even used ROMCleaner, and all the wipes in 4EXT, including SD. Thanks for the suggestion guys. If anyone else has anymore I can try, you're more than welcome.
Can I use a logcat to detect this app? Maybe format or delete the file and turn on the logcat and then wait until a it returns and find the item in the log?
