I have set up a cover page in ssLauncher to be a remote control for xbmc I'm already using xbmc's remote and yatse widgets and would like to find a (preferably vertical slider) widget to control volume, either through the web server or buttons to send ir frequencies.. One for each would be nice lol.
If such a thing exists(?) I haven't been able to find it. All I can find is widgets to control the devices various volume levels. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't be possible...
No ideas then?

Hello:
I use my XDAII for reading ebooks with, do we know of any way to be able to use the volume up/down slider on the side for turning pages with??
thanks
You do know that you can use the navigaion pad and press down and/or right to go to the next page and the up and/or left to go to the previous page, right?
Yep I know you can use the nav pad, but having to hold the right thumb over the nav pad makes grip a little uncomfortable.
If the volume slider could be used it makes for a more comfortable and natural grip on the unit whilst reading as your finger is already on top on the volume slider (if you hold it in your right hand)
I would like to be able to use this too. Also for web pages etc. I am used to it after using my P800. I found Settings->Buttons->Up/Down Control where you can set the repeat rate.
It's interesting it's called an "Up/Down Control" and not a volume button, this suggests you should be able to reassign it.
Up / Down Control
Ok I've done a little bit of investigation and found that pressing the control up generates a 0x76 (VK_F7) and down generates a 0x77 (VK_F8).
Doesn't seem to be any documentation on this in eMvc 4.
Haven't really got time to write the hook stuff for this now. But might get round to it sometime if no one else does!

I have to agree with icarusbop. I also read a lot of eBooks and would love to have the ability to use the slider to navigate between pages.
I don't know how to do it but it certain is possible to get the volume control slider to do thing other than control the volume.
Why - if I have an appointment reminder flash up I can use the slider to change the 'snooze' time. I don't know if this is standard within pocket outlook as I use Pocket Informant 5 it could be restricted to this only.
I would guess that someone with a bit of programming knowhow could write a program to enable the slider to change pages, but all I know is that I couldn't easily.
Very interesting observation, mate. Did you contact Alex Kac (CEO of WebIS) about it? He may be ab le to provide a clue how to programmatically access the sliders then...
use this hack to remove default mapping (changing sound volume) of side slider. And then try to map it in desired application (it must be able to handle hardware buttons with 0x75 and 0x76 vkey codes. Shurely works with Haali Reader on F6 & F7 buttons).
Support of mapping in probably any application as well as a mapping slider to launching applications, using default "buttons" control panel applet is in development and will be introduced in next version.
Id love to be able to control my android music player without having to switch out of the calendar or browser or whatever im working on. As of right now, to perform this multitasking, I hold the home button down for frequently-used applications, or pull down the notifications bars, and switch completely to the full music player before changing my song/volume and then returning back to what i was doing before. I suppose I could use a widget, but that would require going back to the homescreen.
Is there an implementation similar to the Apple iPhone that allows "pop-up" music controls in android? For those unfamiliar with iPhone OS, double tap the home button and a miniature control window pops up in front of what you are doing, letting you control very basic functions of the music player like volume and forward/reverse/play/pause. I'd love to have this functionality, as I am always listening to music when on my mobile.
Does this app exist? If not, this would be a great idea for the many devs who frequent this forum *wink-wink*
Not be rude, but if you added more into title then Does this app exist, more people would probly help you.
But your question, I wish they had something like that too i dont know of any.
I have always hoped that Android device would provide an extra button or extra gestures for which users would be able to assign arbitrary actions, actions menus or apps.
Hi guys, I was wondering if there's any app or mod that will let me control my music from the lock screen so it'll be easier to control while driving? The music co tell on the htc inspire is the perfect thing im talking about.
Thanks
Pred.
not aware of anything like that, but i know for a fact there is an app out there for it. but you could always move your music streaming to your home tab of your device and keep the device from sleeping and be able to control it that way too.
use doubleTwist and you can have the lock screen controls.
PowerAMP allows for lockscreen controls as well. I also believe there's at least one lockscreen substitute that allows you to use any homescreen widget(s)?
Widgetlocker will let u use any widget on the lockscreen, and if u ask me is an absolute must to have as the default lockscreen is soo bleh!!

Click to collapse
Poweramp is the perfect solution for me. Not only does it allow me to control the music from teh lock screen but it also lets me amp the music like crazy to get MUCH louder volume from my new bluetooth stereo headset!!!!!!
Thanks man!!
I am a recent switchover from iPhone 5 to a Galaxy s5 and need some clarification on how Bluetooth devices and their buttons work with applications both in focus and in background.
I use mapping programs like Waze in addition to Pandora, Spotify, ect and am finding that my car stereo's bluetooth controls don't seem to control the music in regards to play/pause/FF/RW unless the application is in the foreground. Is this the way it is supposed to function or is this a quirk with my S5?
From what I have read it seems like it is a limitation of the way Android handles the media controls, but I would like to know for sure.
I have also found the same to be true when using an LG Tone Pro with Chrome open. You can't control the music unless you either switch to the music app, or goto a menu function of Chrome and the media controls work again. For example, in Chrome open up bookmarks using the three little dots in top right and leave that window open and media controls work as long as this is in focus. Seems odd to me.
In Waze you get the same effect. If you click on the button in the lower left to bring up the menu, leave it open, you can use media controls as long as there is focus.. once you click away it goes away.
Hope somebody can tell me that I am missing something, because this is a real bummer.
Is there any way to get a 'media control pad' on the 2nd screen - like the LG Game Pad but to control Hulu or other video apps, or music apps - pause/play, rewind, etc.?
Was watching on one screen and would've liked to be able to use the other screen to control.
Thanks!
interesting idea. only thing I can think of is adding a widget to the dual screen for whatever particular media app you want to control, like Spotify.
