Hi All,
Help would be much appreciated on this. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to the whole Rooting / Custom ROM thing, so if I sound stupid or something doesn't make sense then just let me know and I'll try to explain better.
I bought a Sumvision Cyclone Voyager BT 10.1 back in June running Android 4.1.
Sumvision then released a firmware update to move to Android 4.2 which I flashed to my device in August/September I think (not important).
Anywhoo, the SkyGo app has now been made available on the Play Store, so I downloaded, and looked to put a bit of Sport on, but it says it doesn't work on Rooted devices.
I don't think I have a rooted device, but after searching the internet a little it appears that SkyGo won't work if you have a Custom ROM either (which I'm guessing this update is?!).
What would be the best option here to get SkyGo working? I'm happy to go back to Android 4.1 - but I'm not sure if flashing this to my device will still show as a Custom ROM?
I'm also wondering if actually Rooting my device and then using one of those 'Hide My Root' apps to fool SkyGo would also work?
Any advice greatly appreciated - the easiest solution (other than buying a different device) would be best for a simpleton like me.

That's the thing, I don't think my device is rooted. It has a custom ROM, which is why I don't think SkyGo works, but it's not rooted, so the 'Hide my Root' app won't work.
Would actually Rooting my device work then? Just so I can use that app?

Any suggestions? Should I root it and use the root hider app? Does that hide the fact you're using a custom ROM? Does anyone use them?

Used SuperOneClick which says it has worked however none of the Root checkers say it is and the Super user apps can't update their binaries, anyone know how to properly root these tablets?
I too have purchased this tablet from ALDI, I am very happy with it. Would love to be able to root it... you know what I mean

I have successfully rooted it following the instructions from http://whrl.pl/RdvMXo
However I had to do some things a little different, (after reading the guide you'll understand my next bit)
after I clicked the restore data and it doing the restore it's meant to reboot the tablet although mine didn't so after trying this several times I rebooted it manually to which it actually worked.
My only anger towards this tablet is that it was advertised as 1.2GHz CPU when in fact it's 1GHz.
Champion! Worked for me, Only took 10min.
Now that the device is rooted, what would you suggest next?
Im not well versed on the apps, roms or other things to run on a tablet. So any ideas would be great.
My phone is rooted with Clockwork Mod and a custom rom, is this possible with the tablet?
And once again, thanks for the help

See now I haven't done anything ROM wise with my tablet as of yet because there are no ROMs that I can find for our little chinese made no name brand tablet, I'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for any ROMs I can find or ones that people have tested, I'm just not keen to test one of them myself and brick my tablet.
Hi, I need someone's help in testing a new version of my Online Nandroid script. It has built-in support for MTK based devices such as yours. If anyone would like to try the beta, please send me a PM.
Well I have recently rooted my android Huawei M290 and the version is Gingerbread 2.3.6
So far all I have enjoyed in rooting is the fact that I can take screenshots.
Is there anything else that I can do on my rooted android that I couldn't do before?
Thank you in advance.

there's quite alot you can do with rooting. if you haven't already you might want to get CWM or a custom recovery onto your device so you backup everything. i cant find any specs for your phone so i wouldn't be able to tell you if its good for gaming, you are able to use a wireless ps3 controller now (rooted only) for games or emulators you can also use a wii remote which does not require root. there's a app on the play store that installs beats sound drivers to make your audio sound better, i tried this on my droid incredible but didn't see a difference you might brick your device if you use this app thought so be warned. say you don't like the normal ui that huawei gives you on your phone, you are able to flash roms and themes to get a higher version of android or possibly if your phone has it a port of another phone. your service provider also could have put a bunch of crap bloatware onto your phone so you are able to remove most of them. be careful you can brick your phone by uninstalling the wrong apps. if ya want some other stuff you can check out this guide (Guide) (Beginners) You have rooted your phone, now what can you do
Thanks
Thanks for the help.

theres no root, recovery so definately no custom roms. i dont think theres that much interest in the phone for anyone to take the time to develop for it. i got one given to mess around with and yulong/vodafone have crippled the phone , its got the most basic stock recovery without even sideload option and fastboot is useless, all it says is fastboot mode with no options to do anything, also the bootloader is locked tight and firmware is cpb, it would take someone special to crack this phone.
Just to clarify if your running android 4.4.2 it can be rooted but 4.4.4 doesnt root on this phone or the 890n version.
I have android 4.4.2 and I want to update it to 4.4.4. Is there any way to do that?
Sent from my Vodafone Smart 4 turbo using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe reading here

First of all hello to everyone now down to the point i messed up an 890n vodafone smart 4 turbo 4.4.4 and i cannot find the stock firmware anywhere can anybody help me with this i also notice that the bootloader is nice and tighty so if i found the stock firmware how could i introduce it into the device please help me thank very much
=o}
Just to confirm Kingoroot app works on 4.4.4 . The SU app also gives option now to delete ALL system apps, so do your homework.
Doing a (' site:qualcomm.com ' ) search for any of their apps is very illuminating.
I installed a root file explorer and have took out Bloatware & stuff I don't use...basically turned it into an ipod without Music functionallity, LOL.
Coolpad apps are getting themselves a bad name for surveillance & malware type actions, so beware.

Okay so um, im not exactly what you would call "good" when it comes to rooting android, and ive had the Vodafone 890N that came stock with a KitKat 4.4.4 Rom and Ive had the phone for 11 months and Just recently tried to root it, most ways i tried failed miserably but my friend got the same phone and found this exe file that he said worked for him... but it didnt, but he sent it to me and it worked for me 1st try so now i have a Vodafone 890N running 4.4.4 and its rooted. The name of the app i used is "RootGenius_v2.3.0.exe" and its in asain. So if you do it with that, and it stops and comes up with asain writing, click the blank white button... Another way i got to work was with Kingoroot... which wasnt working 5 months ago so they must've either updated it or i just got lucky
re.root
Noticed Kingo used the wifi quite a bit during the root.
They're basically tagging onto the gmscore playstore app to gain SU now.
Hi guys, can you upload de files to upgrade my Smart 4 Turbo to 4.4.4 Custom Google Rom? I've tried to use the links in the androidpt website but they are all down.
I've found a way to flash zips on to the 890N. Use KingRoot to root it. Get SuperSume from the Play Store (or internet for KingRoot 4.x) and use it. Then, download FlashFire, and use that to flash stuff

Hi. what kind of things did you flash. Was there a lollipop rom available? Thank you.
Alright dunno if everyones heard already or not but Kingroot ver 4.0.1+ can root Samsung Verizon S4's running Lollipop. Thats right, Model ICH-I545 Build LRX22C.I545VRUGOC1 Android ver 5.0.1 is rootable with Kingroot 4.0.1+, The actual version of kingroot I dLd was 4.0.703 I believe but when you use it it automatically updated I believe to a 4.5.? version?
Anyway the Super-Sume app from GooglePlay store can replace & erase the Kingroot & associated apps, just takes awhile & seems like it doesn't work at first gotta pay attention because it askes for Super user access & there's a timer but I got it down.
So now I have a rooted Verizon s4 on lollipop, messin around with Torbot & the ES apps which are cooler with root & I was wondering if theres gonna be an easy way to get Cyanogen on my phone now..
I've never installed a custom rom before but this is the 3rd device I've rooted.
From what I understand the installation of Cyanogen is very device & software specific and everyone kinda gave up on the verizon s4's cause no root before.
Sooo I guess my question is does anyone know how to install a cyanogen rom on a rooted Verizon s4 running Lollipop?
I believe the issue is that the bootloader is still locked, even though the phone is rooted. So until Verizon/Samsung unlocks the bootloader, or some awesome dev can figure out a work around, there is no way that I know of to install CM or other custom roms.
If anyone knows better, please correct me.

Ah see this is why I ask, the only stupid question is the one ya don't ask!
So the bootloader ia a whole nuther can of beans..
Man that sux..
Well at least I can do transparent proxying & delete bloat ware now!
Kinda chicken about diving into the roms anyway.. I'll try it on my Kindle fire hd 8.9 first that looks way easier & the path is established.
Guys, I've been reading and reading through thread after thread and can't seem to find a definite and safe method for rooting my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (U.S.) with 2.3.6. -I read about superoneclick and framaroot and it sounds like these methods work on devices running 2.3.5 but not the one I have. I want to use voodoo sound - that is really the primary and only reason I am trying to go through the trouble of rooting. I'm just tired of reading and searching now - could someone tell me what method works to root my device described above? thanks.
I used iroot worked first time out of the box

I just used Kingo Root - worked fine on 2.3.6. Now I am trying to figure out the next step - creating a nandroid before I go any further. It's proving to be a bit confusing. CWM seems popular but the app page for ROM Manager (I assume I need this to use it?) says I need a kernel that is compatible - where do I get that? I don't want to install a special kernel yet because I want to back up my current system which is working fine right now so I can go back to it. Does the kernel even matter in the back up process? I just don't understand it all quite yet. Should I use TWRP instead? Maybe with that one I don't need a compatible kernel? Help....
