[Q]Serial number 00000000000 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is that normal? is there any problem if i have that serial number? should i find a way to fix that? any fix to that serial number if that is a problem?.
i thank you in advance for your help.
i have s3 GT-19300

Restore back to 4.3 and youll have your imei back. Downgrading without reading any post here on xda is foolish. Use search next time

like i said in my first post i have my IMEI. my network is working. my wifi, text and calls. problem is my serial number is 00000000000. i would like to ask what is the use of serial number and is it ok to have that number.

Your imai shold be nummber thats located under your batery but if this doesnt bother you its ok. You messed your EFS cos on 4.3 and above is v2, and on 4.2.x and down is v1. Thats why you have 0000...
if helped press thanks

my imei doesn't bother me because my phone has it. how do you define a messed EFS?. a messed EFS doesn't have a IMEI and because of that they don't have network.. but i have. based on what i read in this site. mg4 and above has v2 that is why i choose a rom with mg4 modem and that is why i have a network and IMEI.
ill just ask this simple question. what is the use of Serial number?. compared to IMEI if you don't have your IMEI, automatically your phone will have no network. but in Serial number, if the phone's serial number is 00000000000 what will be the effect in the phone?. because if it doesn't have any side effect or bad effect then thats ok with me. and i don't want to use any patch to correct it like the ariza patch..

Have you tried connecting to Kies? I had a different serial number not the 00000 but in numbers and lower case alphabets and kies wn' connect other than that all other functions were ok. I suppose you would have a problem if you want to sell the phone, maybe, maybe not. Cheers

I had a problem same with yours a couple of days ago. I fixed it with a free tool. Samsung remote server. Google it. I got my serial number back for free.

thanks guys for your help but im back again at 4.3 jelly bean mk7 israel version hehehe. ^_^
and my serial number is back again.

I'm glad to hear that. Please backup your efs folder.

This same problem everywhere.. root your mobile and download XXEMG4 modem for s3 and apply that file from recovery mode.

Cm13 00000000000
Hey, i was running cyanogenmod on my s3 for awhile as a secondary device, but i needed to activate the thing and noticed that i couldnt. i did some digging in my device and found that my serial code was 00000000000 just like in this post. now i realized it was too late to revert back, i carelessly hadnt made any good backups of anything because i didnt think id really need the device. So i went to ifixit and ordered up a new motherboard, i installed it then made backups of everything, including the efs folder, the modem folders, all of it, then installed cm13. Still have 00000000000 as a serial number, i restored my efs and restored the modem files and what do ya know.... 00000000000 i dont know what this means for me, maybe all the other stuff is fine and i can activate like normal, but this is a huge pain in the ass and id like to know if anyone else has this problem and if theres help for me and hope for cm13.
SPH-L710 d2spr cm13
maybe its worthy to not this ones baseband is l710vpudoh1

Update:
Well, i downgraded to stock unrooted L710vpudnj2 and started over, not updating tp oh1. Then installed 12.1,everything works perfect right now, ill try cm13 regularly and update again when it works.

I have the same 0000 problem.
My device is international i9300. I corrupted i'ts imei and serial number 1 day after purchase. Today I take my device to a 3rd. party technician and he solve the imei problem but serial 000000 problem remains.
I wiped data and cache after I take it back. And I did a factory reset via android menu. But still the same 0000 serial.
I backed up my efs folder to several locations and make a backup with ktool too. So what is the next step?
Should I flash the latest samsung firmware via odin amd make a full wipe after that?
Or just flash some cm10 rom.
Sorry for bad english and thanx in advance.
Did you fix it?

Hi, don't worry about bad English mine isn't so good either. Were you able to get your serial number back? If so what did you do? I have the same problem it was gone after I flashed a new rom I had lost the network and the IMEI but thanks to this site and DocHoliday77 the phone is back in order except the serial number but it looks to me that it does not have an effect on the performance. so just may let it go before I do something dumb again. If you did get it back let me know how.

Hey man,
I read the post and tried using the MG4 modem but I still unable to connect to network. I would search for the network and select my service provider, a pop up would say "registered to network" but when I try to make a call a pop would appear and say "not registered to network".
Now in my notification bar i would see a hazard sign saying: "NO SERVICE selected network (bmobile) not available" any additional direction you could give me to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in advance!

[Q] S3 "not registered on network"

Hi guys,
i'm an italian boy that has a galaxy s3 with a problem: i can't call or send messages because on the screen there is "not registered on network"
i do nothing, my phone is genuine...i didn't try to change rom or to do something...the problem is appared suddenly.
How can i fix the problem? imei code is intact and my telephone operator didn't block my phone or imei...
i know that in this forum there are some topics about this problem, but it is very difficult for me find them...
help me please...i haven't assistance...
thank you
Look for the serial, if it starts with 00000 or something like that, you nees to use Ariza Patch.

...my wife had this problem last week. Phone was saying that it was not registered on Network. Looked around on the net, checked settings on phone and found that if you turn the phone off for a few minutes and back on, it re-registered to the network. Very basic, don't know why it did it, but it's now OK

This is the problem: imei code is ok but there is "not registered on network"
About the other solution, i'm going to try it but i don't think it will work for me..
Is there a final solution? It is impossible that we can't solve the problem..
Thank you all..

[Q] Thats not my Network Operator?

Hello
I've only just flashed my Samsung galaxy ace GT-S5830i with jellyblast 3.0.3. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976674 ) Everything went fairly smoothly and now I have an almost fully working jelly bean 4.1.1 install.
Unfortunately, I can't connect to my Network Operator which is Tesco Mobile in the UK.
If I go to " Settings > Wireless & network settings > Mobile networks > Network Oporators" jelly been searches for available networks and comes back with a few options, one being O2, which I think tesco uses. But when I select O2, the phone says that my sim card does not allow connection to the network.
So... my question is, how can I connect to Tesco mobile network if the option is not available in the options provided?

I thought the imei number was hard coded. meaning, part of the hardware. is that not the case?
What does loosing the imei mean?
Ok, so the imei number was stored in the EFS folder right? and if I haven't backed that up, then i guess i'm screwed?
If that is the case then I guess the only option is to take the phone back completely bricked?
Is there any other way I can correct this problem?
thanks

Lol. Thats a nice way to get rid of this phone...and buy a new one if you are out of your warranty period. You will get your imei number back....just flash any stock rom through odin again. Once you get back on stock...backup your imei number using galaxy toolbox app so that you dont think about crucifing your phone again. ( I wont be surprised even if you want to....because i usually feel like doing that.

I've actually just bought this phone with a new and very cheap contract (what a dooch). Flashing hadn't even crossed my mind 2 days ago when I got it. If only I'd known what I now know, I definitely wouldn't have got this particular phone, seems as though its a real pain for everyone.
Thanks for your tips by the way.
I've downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile.com for this phone, will the combination of restoring the imei, backing it up like you say and flashing with sammobile's rom be enough to restore the original setup?
If so, I might use the 14 day grace period to change my mind about this phone and get a slightly more flashable one.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
I sorted the phone by putting the stock firmware back on, deleting offending files and unrooting it. I then went back to the shop and swapped it for a Galaxy S II GT-I9100 (wohooo what a phone!)
I will be rooting it at some point but I have to be sure I can do it without problems.
Thanks again

[Q] Emergency Call Only After Flashing. IMEI, SN all normal. Help!

First of all, this is not my first time flashing a custom rom. I've been using different roms for months. Before this tragedy I was using MIUI as my primary rom and CM10.2 temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build - V10 as my secondary rom with Googy-Max Kernel 1.6.7 installed. Everything works perfectly fine. Yesterday I decided to install Resurrection Remix® v4.0.6 as my secondary rom. During the installation the installer asked me to choose one modem. And I randomly chose one of them. After that I rebooted my phone into secondary rom, but there was only black screen. Then I took out the battery, reboot it into my primary rom. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MOBILE SIGNAL WAS GONE. I tried to flash different modem/baseband and tried everything I can find on the internet. Now the signal shows" Emergency Call Only". I used Odin to restore my phone to stock rom, everything on my internal storage is gone BUT THE SIGNAL IS STILL "Emergency Call Only". The SN is normal (not all 00000000) but imei is wrong. Can someone tell me what the f*** is happening to my phone? Thank you so much! :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Update: I sent my phone to Samsung care. And they said some sort of chip on my phone is broken. And they charge me 200 dollar for replacement! Hell no! Any ideas??

...and the IMEI matches the sticker?
Maybe look on the internal and external sd card for an efs backup. Maybe a rom you flashed took one.

The stupid thing is I didn't know efs before this. And there is a backup. But nothing happened after I restored it. Another thing is the Titanium Backup on my phone became a free version. It should be a premium one. Does that mean I lost my efs? Then how come I still got the correct IMEI and SN?
Well if your imei is intact what's the fuss ? stick to the newer base bands

Okay..now I realize that my IMEI has been changed to 00499010640000 which is different from my sticker. But the S/N are the same. Is it fixable?

Ouch...
If you didn't have efs backup then visit to service centre was 'a must' move.. Although I have no idea how much they charge , 200 $ kinda seems too much /// @rootSU should know better

[Q] Imei on Back sticker is Different from Imei when dialled *#06# ??

here when i dial *#06# on my keypad it gets the following code 004999010640000/01
when i see my back cover it is showing like this 353743/05/116418/2
what makes it different??
yestereday i installed pardus rom and after getting error ""not registered on network"" i reverted back to omega..still the same error..(any one know the solution please tell me )

No need for a efs backup now .. Your efs is already modified to the new version .... Just flash the modem in cwm and you are good to go :highfive:

Hi guys i have a similar problem
I just flashed TEMASEK's CM 10.2 v14 now, and lost my network connection.
I still can connect to wifi though.
IMEI number is still there.
Baseband - I9300BUEMD1
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Did you read the above, follow the links or try the solution?
My apologies, I was a little nervous.
From what I now understood, all i have to do is flash the attached modem (modem_RIL_CWM_I9300DDEMG2.zip) , correct ?
Edit:
Weird, suddenly the signal is back. Any possible explanations?

If you read the thread, you will see all he had to do was flash a baseband.
