I could rooted and use Titanium Backup(need rooted) but cannot work any tethering applications(inc. Liquid tether).

I am now the proud owner of an Acer Stream, so let me share all the info I got
-> if your Stream is Android 2.1: get the official update from Acer http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
(select smartphone > Stream > Stream then in OS)
After it's 2.2 follow this procedure:

Get the file and copy it to your /sdcard folder
If you're afraid/ don't know how to use fastboot you can use this very good Recovery Manager coded by Sebastian404 (remember though that your phone has to be rooted)

Now reboot as recovery, you can backup all your data to your external card, and your phone is ready to welcome a custom rom... we just have to wait someone ports CM7 or some other eye candy to it...

I wanted to see if someone can help me. I have acer stream and try to delete some files in the root explorer. I made a mistake and selected all system files and delete them. Now my acer is a paperweight. I tried restarting and nothing. I can not start the phone is in the language selection screen. Someone has the original rom to load it again?, Or someone has a way to fix this? Thank you. : (
Good news! A first custom rom seems to be released. As I'm a new user, I'm apparently not allowed to post outside links, but you'll find the rom looking for "dark.Firmware Glacier (4.007.21) для Acer Stream".
I haven't tried it out yet, so I can't report on any experiences.

But, i say: I can't create AOSP, CM7, MIUI or 2.3\4.0 - just optimize device. Soon be a newer version of custom.
Thanks for commenting and all your efforts - I will probably try to install your rom after christmas. One question: Is it possible for you to change the size of the market cache? I can't install big apps (> 25MB) from the Android Market, even though there is enough memory left - I suppose it has to do with cache allocated to market downloads?

i've flashed my acer stream with the dark rom, it works pretty good! only bad thing is, i can't seem to change the ringtone :s
olso it is still android 2.2, it would be nice to see some roms with 2.3
I haven't installed it yet, as I'm going to travel for a few weeks soon and don't want to mess with my phone beforehand, but afterwards I'll try it for sure. By the way, there is a new release of the dark.Firmware Glacier.

the new version of the dark.Firmware doesn't work that well for me, i keep the old one.
The other link you posted seams to contain an corrupt 7z file, I can't open it anyway

The phone works fine,but the app store pre-installed in in chinese...so I installed googlplay, it installed fine, but when I click on it It does not open. Although I can install many of the application via 'apk installer' but its really pain to find to apps on 4shared and some local apps are only available on GooglePlay.
I emailed, antelife, and no help or reply from them. emailed THL W6, they replied "We only deal with china customers" So basically there is no support for this phone. and I come across xda developer, although there are many other models of chinese phones here are talked about, but I could not find THL W6 model.
I am afraid to brick it incase I installed wrong image or rooted it incorrectly. I have rooted/jailbroken android, iphones, ipads in the past, but this time I m bit worried this time.
I found another website 4pda.ru/forum/ index.php? showtopic= 400088 and found to be helpful to some extent, but the image and contents are in russian, so not much of help either.
Can any one please help me to root and run GooglePlay store or guide me to right direction.

I am not sure, did you root your phone already or not yet. but its certain you have to root it and install CWM ROM and then move gapps zip to memory of your phone, restart phone in recovery mode and install from SD card "yes" it will install google play and also will fix Location services and will remove other not needed files from phone(only if you want to)
I had made a detailed guide at gurufoxy.blogspot.ie and also a small video just giving some overview, that what is involved etc.

I think it depends from who you buy the phone, some chinese sellers sell the phone rooted and googstore apks pre installed, some even asks extra charges to do rooting etc for you and some even dnt bother doing anything, they only send you the phone as it is(as happened in my case and other previous poster).
I found out after I got the phone that GooglePlay store does not work in China and they have different Appmarket and search such as Biadu over there. So people should make sure this thing with the chinese seller before they placed the order or better asked for rooted and googlePlay store installed to escape all this hassle.:silly:
Can it be that your phone only supports 3 languages,english and simplified/ traditional chinese ?
Then we knew the difference why my app store works, have an multilingual version.

The phone was not rooted, but after searching MTK Droid Root & Tools helped.
That may the cause of googlePlay crash.
On my phone it shows different version ROM than yours, and it does not shows many languages and choices either..
Well, the phone is in great form, its still fast while running so many different apps in the background, but you can imagine it drains the battery fast, but if I turn off bunch of apps, battery life gets better.

No, just rooted and added clockwork recovery to mine. The standard rom is decent once you've removed the chinese stuff from the phone.

To my understanding, the 4 gig ROM has been divided into several areas, such as system files area, cache area, Internal storage area, phone storage area. When you install applications, it will be stored either in the Internal storage or phone storage area. The 2 gig area you mentioned is the phone storage. You can check the spaces left on your phone through "Setting-> Device-> Storage".
For the gps issue, I think this may help. My problem is regional restrictions in google play.
Cant download very important app for me.
Cracked market from Chelpus 3.10.10 helps with paid apps, but i still cant install some apps because of region.
Lucky patcher with its multi dpi patches doesnt help either.

Hello, I have an eGlide EGLXL102B and this tablet runs Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 and it's really DAMN SLOW! I've already rooted it.. but now I don't know how to put another rom into it I REALLY WANT TO DOWNGRADE IT or at least make it faster.. I can't even open 10+ mins videos on Youtube.. About year ago i bought Allwinner A13-tablet(Androra A713) from china and it has worked well(as childrens toy) but the stockROM is old and crappy(even kids dont like that). So i searched better rom from internet and finded it but theres few problems with it.
After installation/flashing, rom boot well but modules/drivers are wrong. I have readed lots of compiling tutorials and stuff but after hundreds of tries i still cant get those work! Im @ Computer Science education in University of Applied Sciences so im not totaly noob.
So please help me to do working flashable CM10 zip to my tablet. For some reason i cant upload files to XDA-forum and im new so i cant post external links so if you want to help me please post here and then sen an PM to me then i give link to files(boht are clean and safe!!!).

As far as custom ROMs go you are prob on a loser unless you want to learn all about it and try to write one yourself. As for rooting it try:
Motochoper or
Root many android by bin4ary
There are other "generic" rooting methods out there but I can't remember them just now.
Rooting is usually device specific so it you will just have to try all the generic options perhaps one will work but no guarantee.
Edit: I have looked into it a bit now. It would seem that you have an allwinner a23 chip set although any info on your ram, cpu speed etc would help to confirm that. As its a Chinese tablet unless either of the suggestions above work (I would try root many android) then there are other options however they are in Chinese. Vroot seems to work on that tablet or there is shuame which is a Chinese rooting and flashing tool. Obviously being written in Chinese care and common sense are required.

Thx for your post my friend .First of all, im not a noob in flashing diffrent roms (custom roms,etc) but i only do that on my samsung phone.
In my phone i change roms every week testing diffrents roms from xda so, i have moore then one ideear about the risk,that s way i ask for tablet because on tablet never flash a rom before.My big problem is that i cant find any info about it ,all i know so far is name,brand,and android version that use. Allwiner Polaris_a70h and run android 4.2.2 JB. that s all.
Im not even able to see her in ADB SHELL ,i try to find a way to install apps on sdcard because on internal is to low memory,that s way i wanna rooted or try somme rom with a2ds suport. But how cand i flash it ,if i dont have not even the tablet drivers for pc ,because i dont no from where to get if i dont find the producer website... so..... im in big truble has you see... ((

allwiner (maibe) ..a70h this is the device name they say...
Today i try it wihth shuame ...when i open the shuame he view my tablet as Samsung note i9200 or sommething.... and not as A70h tablet model.
But cant do anything because ti need the tablet drivers , that i dont have it (((( if i have the drivers and my tablet can be see it in adbshell maibe i can run the command with settinstalllocation to force install on sdcard ... an maibe rooted too... i dont have a clue what tot do... stuck here feeling idiot ((

Sincerly..i never try to boot it in recovery mode because im scare to not brik it... so i dont no if has or not. The onli thing i try is adb with adb devices comand... and list me nothing ( But that is because i dont have the tablet drivers install i think ???

It won't brick your device starting it i n recovery or fastboot mode that's what all the automated roots do. I'm afraid mootmetal does have a point the reason the more expensive tablets have roots is because there is a lot of developers using these devices. The allwinner tablets are a budget Chinese tablet as I'm sure you know and therefore don't have the same developer following. Theoretically there will be a way to root it but it will simply be a case of trial and error. Try things like super one click and root many android. Some people seem to have had success with vroot. Perhaps one of them will work. Sometimes it's just not possible I eventually gave up on cheap tablets and bought a second hand nexus 7 1st gen. If having root access is that important to you perhaps you need to consider buying a tablet with more developer support. Look for methods to root the allwinner a23 I think that is what the a70h model is. You could pop the back off it sometimes its written on the main chip what it is. For example it might say something like rk3066 then you would Google root rk3066 or whatever is printed on the main chip.
Otherwise just enjoy the tablet for what it is and accept that it may not be possible to root it.

no offense my freind at least u can affroad a cheap tablet but me i just cant, as u said not everyone is rich .... but at least u could do some research befor buying it ... but if i decide to buy i will aleady know that i cant do much with it ... good luck anyway

No probl bro .... usuale i do an research before buy anything but this tablet is my wife tablet and she came home with this crap .Maibe she has an chinesse boyfriend who want to .......her ..and he doublecross her,offering to her an " very expensive gift" )))))))) deh....blonde girls... ))))

Thx alot for advices, i discover in setings clock mode recovery so is not a risck so far, i will boot in recovery mode to see what optiones i have there but the probl remain,where i can get the drivers for this model...and customs roms for it ...
I remember on xda it was a post with an app that can force install all apps to sd card but i dont remember the name ,maibe this type of apk can solve me the probl to not change the rom .superoneclick is universal or is particular depending of type of device you want to root it ??
Ok...i just successe to root this piece of crap with VROOT soft ...it s working,i have root now!!!

a2sd scripts will work on tablet the same has in phones devices???
The ADB SHELL still dont see the tablet device so i cant run the commands gen: settinstalllocation_2 etc,but i presume i must use a script for a2sd or an apk ,any one with good advice for me pls pls pls????!?!
Root uninstaller is good for removing bloatware app2sd will let you move installed apps onto your SD card. Custom ROMs just don't exist for this tablet as no one has written any. Glad to see you got it rooted though. I would recommend adaway you can't get it on the play store any more as Google removed it but its a root app that stops in app advertising on tablets and phones. Its available on xda

I have root cleaner pro ,frezee apps or uninstal sistem apps ,quarantine pro do the same thing etc. for block advertising i use addfree or somme, is a good apps i use in the phone too and it do good job..Till now my tablet is ok,today i sucesse to brick the rom trying som experiment but i restore back from factory reset AND it works as a new rom .Now i have a rooted rom but i tell you what i observe :
1- The tablet has 2 partition of internal memory,in first partition say 500 mega ..seccond 1 giga but those two are WITHOUT my memory card insert it,if i put mt card on it, it make it 3 partition (2 partition for internal 1 partition my card) . Ok..in this point, if i instal ann apps let s say facebook,the app is instaled in 1 partition (500mega) but afther instal in settings i have option to move apk to sd card. If you move facebook on sd card it goes in 2 partition(1 giga same internal) not in my REAL sdcard partition.So it born the problem ,after maximum 10 aplication instaled,my 500 mg partition say fullmemory,pls uninstal apps to get space. But the 1 giga partition it has allot of space,not sayng the memory card partition wich is totaly free 4 giga. My plan is to move apps on 4 giga partition(real sdcard) not in 1 giga partition wich is the same INTERNAL partition.... im verry confuse who thnik this partition metod it was a stupid move..
So ... if you say there are not any custom roms for this,an not any script for it, maibe can sugest me an app2sd who can move the hole apk to REAL SDCARD with data and chace not only the apk... i thinking at Link2Sd apk but i m afraid it move the apps in the 2 partition (in internal) not to real partition on sd card.... pffffff...confused again....
