Good day.
Emmm,I'll just go straight to the point;I mistakenly flashed my gionee p2 android with a custom ROM for another device, no surprise it got stuck on boot, I have previous nandroid backups and I have tried restoring them all,its still stock on boot,I tried flashing another ROM via cwm, still same result... now few hours ago I tried flashing a stock ROM I got from androidxda with splash tool also from that site, and everything goes fine no errors until I begin the flashing process and a get an error like " blablabla layout has changed"..then also "DA didn't receive data to flash tool"...sorry,can't remember the exact wordings of the error, but they sure sound like that..
Prior to the phone getting bricked I had ram expander and xposed frameworks installed on the phone, ram expander swap file was located in the emmc, still is...I used the xposed framework disabler zip file found in my SD root to remove all xposed stuff, could it be that I am encountering these errors because of the swap file on my emmc?.. because I also tried formatting that partition through cwm but keep getting errors too " error mounting emmc!"...
So please xda, what can I do to get my phone back...its just weeks old.... pleeeeease!!
ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED,THANK U.

I have SGP311 4.2.2 stock rooted with this kernel and regularly I am trying to install varius custom ROMS but I am always getting Error Status 7 and flashing stops. The only way to overcome this issue is to install first the boot.img from the ROM that I am going to install and then through the Recovery of the new boot.img I can install the custom ROM without errors.
I know this is not a normal behaviour and I am trying to figure out what's wrong. I tried to edit updater-script by removing all the getprop lines but then I got the same error when the set_perm command is executed.
Could you help me ?
Thanks!
i had the same issue

i had the same issue while i was flashing cyanogen mod 10.1.3 , any ways i kept trying, i still recieved an error
afterwards i tried to download the rom again and then i placed it into my internal sd storage, after soo many tries, i finally got it working
maybe its the issue with your zip file, try downloading it again, place it into your internal storage, not external, then flash it

Hi and thank you for the reply.
I tried to install from the internal flash though I didn't believe that the result would be different and I had the message (set_perm Error Status 7). It's very strange that no other users mentiong this problem. I am thinking maybe it's something with my stock ROM or some other setting.

i think you have mentioned that you flashed the boot.img before you tried flashing the rom, i would recommend to flash the right boot.img again from the rom, this is the most common issue when u get status 7 error,
other wise, backup all of your important data, return to stock by using flash tool / factory data reset, root again and then flash the boot.img and then flash the rom
thats what i do when im desperate for the rom
Hello,
I searched in many threads as I could and although I learned that mediatek phones were virtually "unbrikable", I'm afraid it keeps getting worse and won't do more without your expertise.
So a few days ago I was wiping my phone to install another rom and besides wiping data and cache, I also made the huge mistake of wiping SYSTEM... My phone now just boots into recovery and nothing else.
I have an Efox Smart e4, equals to no.1 s6 and hdc galaxy s4 according to other posts here. MTK 6589, 1gb internal, 1,84gb internal sd.
The first custom rom that i installed was Essefour no.1 s6 by iceman and also the touch recovery. The rom performed great but I wanted to solve the issue that the phone kept switching between sd external and internal randomly. Also, I wanted to merge the internal memory with the internal sd so I was gonna try another rom. With this problem, was even trying the stock rom but to no avail.
When I try to install the Smart e4 factory rom for cwm and I get status 7.
E:Resource type (image) failed to load
Installing /sdcard/SMART-E4_V1.0_V01_2013-10-29_CWM.zip

Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.

Other roms it just fails.
Right now, my computer windows 8.1 x64 can't identify correctly my phone, only access the sd. So can't do any adb push. In download mode it identifies as lenovo composite interface?? and cdc serial, the last I can't install. In other modes, I get gt-9500 but with the yellow triangle.
I would really really appreciate any help, thanks!
Might try to just edit the updater-script and remove the asserts.
Reference this for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762
But I think your issue is that since you wiped the system, there's no /tmp folder to store the boot.img. However, if the last rom and this rom can use the same kernel (boot.img) then removing the assert for the boot.img install might do it since wiping the system does not affect the kernel.
What happened to the other rom you know is working somewhat? Can you just reflash that?
Otherwise, you'll just have to find the official way to flash with the scatter file and all that.
I searched for that updater and there are no lines for assert on the stock rom. Also inside the main zip, there are zips for system, boot, recovery and logo...
I'm trying to install the stock rom to play it safe since it was the same that came with the phone. The previous rom I talked about, I deleted it and now the phone isn't recognized on the computer..
Since I don't know if they have the same kernels, is it safe to try and reinstall the custom rom?
As of using scatter and such, maybe I need other pc to get the drivers running again.
Will let you know
I got it!!
The zip from the stock rom wouldn't let me install the kernel (boot). Managed to install only the rom, and as you said the kernel wasn't the same.
Eventually I reinstalled the custom rom and afterwards flashed a completely different rom via spflash tools since it connected successfully to my computer this time.
As I'm already restoring apps and data, I think everything is working properly.
Once more, thank you very much
Hello guys, i'm new on the world of Android and i need a little help. I'm newbie but i learn fast.
I got a new phone with android 4.4.2 China honor 3 (fake), after uninstalling some China app the operation system started to stuck at logo at the start.
So to solve the problem i red that i could restore the old OS using ROM file. The factory where i bought the phone sent me the official ROM file for my phone.
Now i entered on Recovery mode, first i did "wipe data/factory reset", then with ADB i loaded the file .zip "adb sideload update.zip". But how the file is uploaded it says "Installation aborted", without any error.
So now i need your help how can i restore this system... I tried also to buy an SD card 8 gb and upload the file on the SD, but same error.
Thank you for your help!

the best place to go for any rom for china phones is needrom just google it. I had a jiake v8 phone and this was the only place where i was able to find rom for my phone. good luck ....
I face the same prob!
I have a canvas 2.2 a114 which I bought a few days back . I had been using it very smoothly(not rooted and is new). But suddenly it started to reboot and was stuck at the canvas logo. I have the rom file, but it simply says "Installaton aborted when I load the zip file. help plz! Thanx.
guys the best way to do this is to go to youtube. Find how to port rom to mtk devices or china phones there are plenty of videos. It will be much easier for you to do something when you see how someone is doing it and then you do it for yourself. I have a jiake v8 pphone and this is what i did is not that easy to explain much easier to see.
you can try reflashing the stock rom (You May not lose data) or you can install the stock recovery

Guys I finally figured out (I am new to the android family) that i should install a custom recoery inorder to flash roms. I cant flash roms in stock recovery.
Greetings,
I rooted and ran austom rom on my galaxy s4 for more than a month now and everything was running just fine till it got into a boot loop. i have tried reinstalling 2 new different marshmallow roms from gear and ressurection in cwm custom recovery 6 but cant seem to get to fix this and keep getting errors like "failed to mount dev block no such system or directory" or shows the process was completed 0.200000, /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 . I am new to all this and all the answers im getting are a little too difficult for me to grasp. i managed to install aroma fm to copy my files and roms to root folder of phone but to no avail, please help
Hi everyone I messed up my phone trying to root. Here is what happened,
I wanted my phone rooted to delete some useless app so I flash Supersu.zip to my phone with TWRP (bdw phone is 'Vestel VenĂ¼s v3 5010')
But it did not work and phone stuck at boot-loop than I flash stock rom but that wasn't same rom but it was compatible(Chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 MSM8909 so I used QFIL). Phone was working good but than a notification appeared it was update to nougat from marshmallow. Update ended up with error and I tried update manually I found the rom and update it.
It worked too but WiFi, Bluetooth, and Hotspot didn't work so I flashed old Rom but this time phone didn't open stuck at boot-loop. I tried all roms which compatible with this phone but only nougat one works.
I guess boot.img didn't work because internal storage has one file and it's name is TWRP
I tried wipe every partition in TWRP.
I can't use Nougat rom because system took lots of space
I installed drivers
I am trying to unbrick for 2 days and I am not sure what I tried.
I am out of idea please help.
Sorry if my language not good.
