[Q] How to disable very long press power button reboot on sgs3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm facing the problem of rebooting of phone due to very long press(5-7 sec) of power button. The power button just randomly get pressed and then the mobile reboots. I remapped the power button with volume buttons but still the power button long press cannot be remapped.
Any fix and thoughts please!

Flash a rom which has advanced power menu then select reboot after pressing power button. (most roms have this)
Or there is an app called quick boot or fast boot something like that. You can reboot using that as well.

a million thanks, that's what I was looking for.
I have tried it. The phone was off but it never boot again. Just stay off. Am I making any mistake? Whenever I press and hold the power button, on the screen will appear several choices, one of them is the power off. But I just ignored it and keep pressing the power button.

+1, the phone does not reboot, just switches off. Need to power up again!
Push and HOLD all together: Volume up, on/off and Menu Key.
After some seconds it reboots (still hold the keys) and it runs in a selection menu. Here you can select " Warmstart" or clear cache before and then do a Warmstart.
Nothing will be destroyed, because its NOT a Factory reset (Coldstart).
???? Some crazy suggestions here.
Anyway, get SwitchPro widget (from the Market). There's a reboot button in it that pops up a menu for reboot, download or recovery.
It needs root to work. Any software method of rebooting your device will need root.

Okay, in that case, you need to use the power menu that you have to turn the phone off, and turn it back on again.

Which phone are these options on???
Warmstart ?? or do you just mean reboot which is the same as powering phone off and then on via power button and avoids recovery menu .

Screen Capture on ICS?

Does anyone know how to screen capture on ICS firmware? I've tried holding volume down+home screen but it doesnt work. Any ideas? :/
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Vol down + power for 3 secs should do the trick, if not download something for screenshots on the market, of course you must be rooted
I can confirm it's the volume down button + power for 3 seconds.

[Q] Bricked trying to install cm-10.1-M2 [SOLVED]

I tried to install cm-10.1-M2 using CWM, latest version. I selected to have it wipe everything and to back up the original ROM. It failed because it couldn't "find" the ZIP. Something to do with the obnoxious way Samsung treats internal memory as "sdcard" and the actual sdcard as "external_sd." I said ****it and copied the ZIPs over to the internal SD and tried again. Did not wipe the second time. Now it is stuck on the Cyanogenmod boot screen and will NOT boot into CWM for nothing. Am I just screwed? Is there something I'm missing?
Solved: I was using the wrong button combo for recovery mode (it's power, volume up, AND volume down) and you have to do the factory reset/wipe AFTER flashing the ROM, not before. Thanks to everyone! I may feel stupid but I have a working phone with sweet sweet 4.2.2 now. :good:

How are you trying to achieve booting onto recovery?

I've tried volume up + power + home plus a ton of variations. Everything I've found online says it should be volume up + power + home though.

Listen how new are you to this? I'm not being smart just wanna help are you pressing up the power and middle button once you feel the power come on it should vibrate then let go of the power while remaining to hold the middle and volume. If you hold them all it never worked for me just a tip.

I've got to wonder what we are working on here. My I717 has neither a home or middle button. Op ... Do you have the Note or the Note 2. Also wondering if you flash the proper rom for your phone.

Power off your device. Then press the power button again and immediately hold both the volume up and volume down buttons until after the Samsung logo disappears. It should be really fast.

Thanks for working with me. On my phone, home is not a physical "clicky" button, it's one of the soft buttons along the bottom of the front to the left of the back buttom . I tried to link to a photo but I'm too new to be allowed to post outside links. If volume up + power +home isn't it, how do you boot it into recovery?
It's definitely a Note 1 AT&T and an I717. As for the ROM, I used the latest quincyatt from get.cm
Re: [Q] Bircked trying to install cm-10.1-M2
Hold down the volume button in between the up and down so you are pressing both and power. Once you feel the vibration release the power button. Another user in this thread had mentioned this but it seems it was over looked

I could have sworn I had tried that but... well, it worked. I feel stupid but I am grateful. I neglected the factory reset/wipe step after flashing the ROM. It's working now. Thank you very much.

its bit tricky and even i could not do for some times before. You need to press VolumeDown and Power buttons quickly together at exact time and keep pressing both together for 1/2 seconds and you will see a shot image going back to save. Dont press power for longer time else phone will switch off.

Mega hard reset/fastboot

After quite a bit of research and key pressing along with multiple boots, I finally found the hard reset key sequence for the Galaxy Mega. SGH-I527
Press Pwr + +Vol + Home key.
When the Samsung Galaxy Mega screen pops up you will also see in the top left corner "Recovery Booting..." in blue. You can now release the keys and let the phone boot into recovery mode.
Happy Hacking

on my SGH-I527 Galaxy Mega all three keys are required to boot into recovery mode.
I tried the two key method and the phone just booted up normally..
and with my infuse it takes PWR + +vol + -vol so three keys required on that phone as well.
go figure i always get the odd balls
