[Q] 3-Part GB Firmware - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I get crazy while searching the original gingerbread firmware for the GT-I9100 including all parts (PDA, PHONE and CSC).
Since Hotfile is down I can't find a working link.
Can someone please provide a working link?
thanks in advance.
edit : when there would be a PIT file in the package I would be happy..
edit 2 :
what I want to do ist, repartition the whole device with stock GB firmware.
I want to do this because I got this phone from a friend and it has a bricked efs partition, now I have several ideas how to fix this but first I want to go back to stock.

Do you mean GB or JB?
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM

I mean GB, so I'm not sure but I think the first complete stock firmware was 2.3.3?

Ah OK.....just checking as I can link you to a 3 part JB firmware.....tbh I think you're unlikely to find a 3 part GB firmware......old news now.....
And a word of advice.......
Pit files.....ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT.....use ONLY for recovering a phone if ALL ELSE has failed.......
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM

I thinks an ICS firmware would also work.
When the device is only usable as a brick I think there's nothing to loose ^^
My think with the PIT file is when I completly repartition the phone and flash samsung efs.tar I maybe get a developer IMEI and not just <null>.

Search emmc brickbug ICS 4.0.4......
Could perma-superbrick ur phone.....
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM

thanks for the warnings, but the "phone" is not really a phone atm, it's more like a brick!
The efs partition is corrupted so no signal, wifi or bt. IMEI is just <null> so I have nothing to loose.
I found a 3 Part GB firmware but this one is buggy. So I still need a 3 Part ICS firmware.

OK......just in case....here's the link to the 3 part JB.....(for i9100 international ONLY)

[Q] Previous HTC Owner very lost - Firmware Kernel codes?

Hi Guys, I've been searching and searching for several days now, and trawling endless requests and information about what kernels are compatible with what, but [blank look] huh?
Being an HTC user for the last 5 years, this all seems overly confusing, just when I think I have the info I need, I read a contradiction, then the thread dies!
So my question, and I apologise so much if this has been (and I'm sure it has) asked before:
I have a KH2 orange branded SGS2. I've flashed a new kernel (KH3) CFRoot, didn't put the original one back on because I don't want to lose CWM - it was invaluable on the hero, g1 etc.
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9100BVKH1
Kernel: 2.6.35.-I9100XXKH3-CL479037 [email protected] #2
Build: GINGERBREAD BVKH2
But I still have the old Orange Firmware / Rom on the phone. I want to try some new unbranded ones, and check out how cyanogen works (and hunt out villainRom! My fave), but worried that if I use a rom with the wrong code (i.e based on XWKL1 or IML74K) I'm going to end up with an expensive (but very pretty) paperweight.
I see KH1, KH2 and KH3 in my phone info and I'm starting to get a little nervous that I messed up! lol
As far as I'm aware the code (XXKH3) (XWKL1) refers to the kernel?
The baseband would be the modem? If so, is this flashed with the rom/firmware?
How on earth do you decipher those codes?!
Thanks, and again, apologies if this is not a unique question but I'm sure the search feature is beginning to wear out now. If I had a touchscreen pc, there'd be a hole in the screen from pressing it so often!
The "codes" as you call them are just firmware version numbers
(Year)(Month)(rom number)
So KK5 would be a 2011 rom released in the 11th month and its the 5th rom built this month.
BVKH1
Bold: Country code
Underlined: Rom version
Baseband is the modem, you can mix/match any modem with any firmware (also our modem is almost unbrickable, had someone flash a i9000 modem and it was fixed by flashing a correct one ontop, but still be careful), there is no "best" modem, just find one that works for you.
Its best to keep your kernel and rom version the same, but it wont hurt to much if they dont match.
Recovery and kernel are fused together in samsung devices, so when you flash a kernel you flash recovery, so in order to get CWM you need a kernel with it (glad to see you worked this out!)
Dont worry about the base version, you can flash any i9100 rom on your i9100, the code is just a version+region code.
Also you dont need to worry about the region code, it doesnt have to match your region.
Also, this is a very good guide
ps make sure to backup your EFS asap, read that guide for more info!
Thank you very much!!
That's so much clearer And now I'm not terrified of turning my SGS2 into a plastic poptart let the fun begin!!

Its generally a hard phone to brick
A few notes
1) you dont need to put a pit into odin
2) dont repartition in odin

how to install ICS from 2.3.6

Hi all,
I am trying to use one of these new ICS ROM from my current 2.3.6 ROM and every time the install fails and aborts. The install instructions for these new ICS roms seems the same, you load Clockwork and install. I'm sure I'm missing something stupid so any help is appreciated
Considering your other posts appear to be in the SGH-I777 forum, and this is the I9100 forum, take a guess at what you might be doing wrong.
Well seeing as my current boot screen shows I9100 i thought this was appropriate

Brilliant logic, love it.
Do you indeed have an I777?
P.S. Sticking an Apple bootscreen on your device doesn't turn it into an iPhone.
if ur on gb then simply do a factory wipe and install any stock ics tro odin,an always remember to backup ur efs folder....

Is that a custom ICS flashed via CWM or stock Samsung ICS flashed via Odin .
What is the model code under the battery ,

the issue appears to be a signature verification error when i look closer at why the installation failed?
Putting a question mark a question does not make.
I'll ignore you since you ignored me.
Im not ignoring you i was driving to Cleveland for my sisters graduation. and Im trying to answer these all from my phone. should i give you priority so you can rip me again cuz i don't know as much about this stuff as you?
You know more than me, your model number for example.
oinkylicious is clearly asking you if you have a i9100 or a different device. If people with a different phone flashes a i9100 rom, it will either not boot or may be lucky to see a i9100 boot screen, but it does not indicate they have a i9100.
As said above check under the battery and see what it says. It would be best to do this, before you end up bricking your device due to flashing roms that will not work on your device.
By CWM it's very easy, but unhide your model before 9100 or 9100G
2.3.6 rooted ??
what is the SD-Ext size ?
yes it is an I777. It is rooted. It has an 8gig external card. I've had this rom on there for several months and it was starting to flake recently plus I have been waiting for more ICS roms to come out to avoid bug issues. As I had said earlier I only posted to this forum because the opening boot screen said I9100 which I attributed to the rom that was on there.

So you know you have an I777... well, I777 and I9100 are similar enough that firmwares won't completely brick your phone if you flash one meant for the other model, but they are different enough that things won't work right. Like the fact that the I777 has 4 capacitive keys, and the I9100 has 2 capacitive keys and 1 hardware key.
So I'm not sure why you thought flashing an I9100 firmware would work for you or solve whatever problem you were having... but it won't. You should be only flashing I777 ROMs and firmwares.

Noob Questions Ahoy!

Hi there guys I really need educating. I come from a Samsung Galaxy S to a Samsung Galaxy S 3. I know all about firmware flashing, kernels n stuff on the original Sammy G, but haven't a clue on the Samsung Galaxy S 3.
I have managed to root the bad boy (go me!) but am unsure how to carrier unlock and to flash the latest firmware. The Sammy G was carrier unlocked but my Sammy G S3 is locked to Vodafone
Can anyone point me to the files and maybe some guides so that I can procede? Also what is this business about a flash counter? I want to be able to return to original firmware if it all goes belly up! How do I backup my original firmware?
Many Thanks In Advance
Doozy,
P.S.
Who is the best Dev to follow for A) Rom and B) Kernel? I followed CyanogenMod on the Sammy G but the CM9 nightlies fpr the Samsung Galaxy S 3 seem a little immature for me at the moment.
Cheers once again
I think you don't have to backup your original firmware because you can download the stock firmwares again later, but you can do a nandroid backup (i never did this^^)
If something goes wrong, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
About unlocking i don't know, but i think the lock will be gone if you flash any rom (but can't give you warranty, since my phone was unlocked)
You can reset the flash counter, it's called triangle away : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
Im not able to say, whick rom / kernel is best, but why don't you check this thread and try some roms? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674286
The first CM9 releases had many bugs, but they seem to be ready for all day use now (but i missed the Sammy Camera App, which is very nice )
Thank You very much for taking the time to respond I will take a look at those links.
Thanks Very Much,
Doozy

keep looking all over internetr and dont know what to download. im on 02 but would like it unlocked.
i been having problems ever since i updated to 4.1.2 jellybean and i would like it back to stock firmware
thanks
I think its KI4 you need.
whats that?
Ive just flashed some ingerbrwad firmware on it now my phone wont boot up past the samsung logo.
i put on i9100uhlpo crclp3 found that on google aparantly GB
LP* looks ICS to me.Do wipes at your own risk, as god knows what youve flashed.
In your previous posts you were told to go to places like sammobile. So have you done that now to identify a proper GB rom for your phone etc.
And I see I wasted my time earlier.....

[Q] Galaxy S3, Android 4.04 ICS

I recently tried to downgrade my Galaxy S3 from Jelly Bean 4.1.2 to ICS 4.04 using Odin and a ROM file downloaded from Sammobile.
The installation was succesful and after doing a factory reset and clearing cache the phone booted up ok. It connected to my network provider for several seconds and then disconnected.
After several attempts at this process using different files, I noticed that the IMEI of my phone was no longer correct. At this point I thought I had bricked my phone by somehow corrupting the IMEI.
In an attempt to put it right, I reloaded Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and my phone now works fine again. Please can someone advise what I am doing wrong with this process and why the IMEI gets corrupted as this is obviously why the network rejects my phone when I install ICS.
If you would look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-galaxy-s3-modem-radio-collection-t1740061 you will found this link for ICS ROMs: https://www.wuala.com/UpInTheAir/SGS3/Modems/I9300/ICS/?key=n0KVwtIMZPE8 . From here, select CWM folder if you want to flash the modem via recovery, or the Odin one if you want to flash it with Odin. Choone one of the file, download it, and then flash it via the method you want.
QuickQuestion: Why would you wanna use ICS when it has been released 4.3 for our device, and 4.4 it is said to be released in the following weeks (Hope so! ). If you want, you can answer, if not, it'ss not a big problem
Thanks for the reply. Is this the reason my IMEI is corrupted when I flash a PDA from Sammobile? I am new to using Odin etc and followed the instructions on the website.
There are some features I liked in ICS that were removed in Jelly Bean, such as direct access to words in the custom dictionary and the 3 x 4 keypad that was removed in 4.3. I already downgraded from 4.3 to 4.1.2 but wanted to try ICS 4.04. So far I can install it but cannot get a network connection for more than a few seconds.
#EDIT: After further research this problem appears to be an issue with the phone's EFS data. I have now used EFS Professional to back up this important area. What I don't know is can I restore this backed up EFS data to correct the problem I'm having when I downgrade Jelly Bean 4.1.2 to ICS 4.04?

If you have a 16GB s3, u might want to keep JB, 16GB ICS S3 has the possibility for sudden death. But, i too am considering going back to ICS, Jellybean is a joke, it lags way more than ICS does. Trying to force the system to constantly render at 60FPS is hardware demanding and was probably a temporary approach. Its unfortunate that ICS ROMS are no longer available for download. Also, i doubt kitkat would be released for our phone.
My S3 is 16Gb and was originally shipped with Jelly Bean. I watched a Youtube video comparing ICS and Jelly Bean and ICS was faster responding in virtually every test, despite the guy doing it being pro Jelly Bean.
I don't know much about the 'sudden death' problem with ICS on 16Gb models but from what little I've read, I thought this was more of a hardware issue due to defective memory chips and/or main boards?
My S3 updated to Jelly Bean 4.3 last December and I wasn't happy because they had removed the 3x4 Samsung keypad that I like to use. I tried a number of different keypads from Play Store but in the end decided to downgrade to 4.1.2, which went without a hitch.
My attempts to do the same with ICS 4.04 did not go so well and I'm still not sure why the IMEI was corrupted or even more surprising, that it was corrected when I re flashed 4.1.2

Not sure exactly how the sudden death works, i just know it affects 16GB s3 variants. I know the video you are referring to, i watched the exact same one. I think most people got caught up in the hype of JB and forgot how good ICS was.

The Youtube video made me laugh as it was supposed to encourage you to want the Jelly Bean upgrade, when all it did was make me want to run ICS even more! I tried a friend's Galaxy S2 with ICS the other day and it was smoother and faster responding than my S3.
I hope to have another go at getting it working but also I am concerned I probably came close to bricking my handset last time because I do not know enough about the process. This wouldn't be good as I still have another year on my network contract to go.
Do post here if you succeed in downgrading to 4.0.4 as I am also looking for it but it's not working
And best of luck
Unless you have a backup of your efs folder, from before firmware EMG4 then you cannot downgrade.
EFS format was changed at EMG4 to v2, earlier roms are incompatible with v2 and later roms incompatible with v1 so IMEI will be corrupt.

Thanks for the info.
My S3 was shipped with EMG4, so unfortunately I don't have any efs data that I can use with earlier ICS firmwares. I was trying in vain to load BLG8 but it just resulted in a corrupted IMEI and no network.
Unless there is some way of converting saved v2 efs data to the earlier format, then I will have to stick with the Android version I have.
Why are you not trying 4.3 or custom rom mate? My god if your phone is giving u problem u should try to tame it. Very smooth, the nb6 firmware. Or at least let yourself try a custom rom for instance temasek.

I have tried the Official Samsung 4.3 release but didn't like that they removed the 3x4 Samsung Keypad, which I prefer to use. I've tried custom firmwares on my old phone (Galaxy Ace) but never had much success with installing them or getting things to work properly after.
My S3 is still under contract for another year and my skills in this area of modifying are beginner level at best, so I plan to do a lot more reading on here and a lot less messing around with the phone firmware until I know more about it.

Your phone lag is because of Samsung bloatwares, get rid of it and you would be fine. Temporarily suggestions would be hang on 4.12 and try greenify. U don't need root but root would give you he best out of it. Look up cf autoroot and begin your journey.
